Body in Motion Must STAY in Motion
ad
Interesting data regarding what happens when we stop working out:
1 week = Cardio Endurance begins to suffer
2 weeks = Muscle Fibers start to dwindle & body begins to retain extra fluids
1 month = Less lean muscle mass, body fat increases
3+ months = Metabolism slows down, heart & lung function decreases
1 year = body fat % increases. Muscle mass & metabolism decrease further. Risk drastically increases for high BP, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes & depression
It's a lifestyle... use or lose it (and it doesn't take long to lose it).

Thank you
I take a week or two off every year during hunting season. But it is 2 weeks of cardio and reduced calories...
I am always going 100% in the gym day in a day out. Sometimes the best thing for me is to go on a vacation where I take a break from all weights and just eat whatever and whenever. I actually come back stronger and more energized and my workouts actually improve because of it. It is hard to take a break though, but I sure do seem to benefit from it.
Agreed Makwa, if you're going 100% all of the time... nobody can keep that pace. Even pro athletes have the off-season. I try to train in phases & adjust my intensity seasonally... but I'm always doing something active.
The problem is I have no off-season. It is either bulking season or prepping season. The only off-time I have is when my girlfriend "forces" me to take a break and go on a vacation with her. If it wasn't for her, I am sure I would be burned out.
Always exceptions to the rule... and pure beasts out there! Cheers bro! Wish I could sustain that level of intensity.
I believie that human body needs a break evey now and then. Especially if you are giving a 100% of yourself everyday. One of my friends, who used to compete, recomended to take a week or 2 break every year to give your body a rest and get that hunger for lifting thing. I don't follow his recomendation strictly, but I do take a week long breaks frontime to time if something doesn't feel right or a pain is not going away. It is all very personal but overall I agree that without any physical activity our bodies fell apart much faster.
No question. Nobody can go 100% all of the time. I firmly believe in seasonal training, and adjusting intensity & activity type.
If I take a week off I feel like crap no way I could go a year the would be like Chinese torture
