TRT & combatting infertility
ad
I have been on TRT for 20 months now. I have also done a few cycles as well.
My wife and I are wanting a child.
My natural test level was at 21 when I got tested.
We have been trying for over a year, using ovulation tests etc, but still not pregnant.
Honestly, I haven't had sperm counts done or anything, but I read on several sites that up to 90% of men on TRT have a 0 sperm count.
Has anyone here had experience with this, or have knowledge on the subject?
I have "heard" that adding HCG can make pregnancy possible even on TRT.
Any advice?

Last year my sperm count came back way below normal at like 3 mil. Started taking HCG while on TRT at 500iu eod. Two weeks later she was pregnant. Did the hcg have enough time to even make more sperm? Probably not honestly. Think I just got lucky. When she was in her ovulation phase, I literally just busted nuts inside my wife multiple times a day in hopes that a swimmer would catch. He did. My son was born March 10.
Not sure why nobody has mentioned this, but it seems like getting as much semen as possible inside your wife is ideal.
My TRT Doctor cycles me on and off HCG to keep the boys alive. Although I haven't been tested (sperm count) in theory it should works.
aromasin- 12.5-12.5-12.5-12.5
nolvadex- 60-40-40-40-40-40-40-40
clomid- 150-100-100-50-50-50
hcg blasted- 1500ius eod 1-9 then aromasin begins again for one week after hcg @ 12.5mgs a day
daa- 3000mgs am/ pm
diet must be healthy and clean, keep all your vitamins and minerals at peak levels daily and add in extra anti oxidants, drinking a super green shake in the morning upon rising will help, and make sure your hitting a minimum of 90 minutes cardio a week.
this protocol is for getting ya misses pregnant mate, best protocol going around and a couple of guys in your boat got their gals up the duff.
good luck................ps depending how you respond you may not need trt after protocol, good luck
I just met another urologist today about the same issue. He put me on 50mg clomid and 3,000iu EOD of hcg. That's 45,000iu a month... I thought that was a lot but whatever it takes.
I think this is a sound plan...is a good start at least. May take 6 months to 1 year before seeing good changes to the sperm count, and even then that obviously never guarantees pregnancy.
In a month I've gone from less than 1 million to 8 million just on 50mg clomid. So I've already seen changes through a semen analysis.
im 47 yrs of age and im TRT as well, i use eroids and its many different src's to self medicate. I recently got married again this one being my 3rd time. My new wife was very eager to have me a baby as ive never sired one before. after approximately 2 yrs of trying we both decided i should go have a semen anaylis, the results came back that i had zero spermazoa in my ejaculate. I tried a very severe pct regimen with no avail. Not trying to rain on your parade but quite the contrary, if any newbs dont believe that pct is critical while cycling AAS while having access to a forumn such as Eroids then their just fooling themselves. Anabolics are not recreational peeps!!!!
I was on the same boat. I got a sperm count done it wasn't good. Went to see a urologist he told me I get off test and start clomid and HCG. I've been off for about 6 weeks and thus far it has sucked.
I did try one of to "OTC" male fertility kits, it was positive. However, it only tests for a concentration of 20 million+. I does not guarantee the "health" of the sperm.
I am an AVM survivors, as such I'm missing 25% of my brain. I strongly believe my low T comes from some quack doctors that overmedicated me with psychotropic drugs as a teenager. The negative effects of the medicines were present literally over night. The doctors refused to take me off them, and I was stuck until I was no longer a minor.
Years later, my fault I know, I finally tried to check into it. I have always been a diy person through self education etc.
You've been through a lot of shit. Stay positive, and as best you can, put positive voices into your life. Eroids is an INCREDIBLE place to learn. Your story is unique, and your experiences may well help a lot of men in the future. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for being so candid.
Regarding your situation, keep learning and working on it! I'm rooting for you. Since I've become a father, my life has been flipped upside down. It is THE reason that I'm here on eroids. I want to be a stronger man so I can be a better husband and father. Without my kiddos in my life, I don't know if I'd have the same mindset. I was content to let life run over me before I was a dad. Now, no way. I'm in charge.
So if you're going to be a father at some point, you'll need all the strength, discipline, patience and empathy you can muster. There's no better time than the present to learn. Cheers brother!
@gottdrache, keep us posted with your discoveries. This could be a valuable thread to add to the eroids database for future men who come searching here.
You being on TRT now clouds the issue. If your test was only 21 when you began TRT, it's likely you were not "fertile" at that point as well. But was this because of a central (pituitary) issue, or a gonadal failure issue? We won't know unless you came off the trt and allowed things to return to "normal", which would make you feel like crap.
Did you have labs beforehand? FSH/LH? Were they super high? Did you ever give a semen analysis beforehand? If it's a testis failure issue this means you probably won't be able to get much out of the old testes even if they are stimulated with hormones.
if it is a pituitary issue, then HMG/HCG/Clomid, etc, over a WHILE, may help. TRT clouds the issue but it's obvious you need to be on it. This is going to be a long and probably expensive process for you if you pursue it.
The other thing you COULD do is simply get on clomid for awhile (like 25mg/day or 50eod), then give a semen sample and see what it shows. You could also do this and save up $$$ for a testis biopsy after the therapy to see if sperm can be found, then do cryopreservation. Of course, that would lead you down an expensive road of assisted reproduction.
Again, this all assumes your testes respond to FSH/LH, and assumes that all your piping is in the right order (IE, palpable vas deferens, normal SV's, normal prostate and ejaculatory ducts, no retrograde ejaculation, etc).
Lots of things to consider. Definitely need to get some insurance if you want to pursue this via a doc...and have lots of patience with it as well. Make sure your wife's on board and understands ALL of this, too. And make sure she has a proper fertility workup and has no issues there, otherwise it will get even more complicated.
I actually have some 50mg clomid tabs, and 15000iu of hcg. Would that cause issues while on cycle? (The clomid that is not hcg)
the clomid shouldn't cause too much of an issue. It's something that would need to be taken for a good long while. I would say 50 mg eod and check semen analysis at 3 then 6 months to see if improvements.
Would you use the hcg too?
I've been reading up on the hmg too, I was thinking of running the hcg until I was out then getting some hmg.
Thanks for all the advice.
That is an area I am less versed in, but I think there are studies on HCG being used while people are on TRT in order to maintain fertility, and they used like 250-500IU every other day. and no problem
I will be in this same boat one day as I am 36, on trt, but getting married in July. :-O
Congratulations on your marriage to be!
I had read on some fertility websites, and fertility clinic's sites that 250-500iu eod or in some cases ed had been used with great results.
Saw numerous men saying that they were able to successfully conceive after 2-6months of hcg therapy.
I haven't had the time lately to thoroughly investigate HMG,it does sound for lack of a better term "more potent" than hcg.
I will be trying to find case studies etc on it for fertility. I'll definitely share what I find.
I read for about 3 months, and even consulted a "doctor's advice" style website. Got 6 responses from fertility doctors that said that hcg is a very common, and effective way to maintain fertility or gain it back while on trt. They said on average 2-4 months turnaround time to regain fertility.
We all know, everyone's different etc. However, I was quite happy with the results I was hearing.
I'm very skeptical by nature, so I read, read, read some more.
dropdzzI have the same problem and have gone to fertility specialist.Havnt started yet but will start at the end of my next blast.Long term estrogen supression and hcg treatments.
Makes no sense. If you are on doctor prescribed trt why wouldn't you go to a doctor to figure out what the actual issue is instead of looking for guesses especially with something as important and potentially stressful as this?
I may not have worded my thread as well as I should have, I'm more interested in knowing if others have been in my situation and if so, did hcg or hmg help.
Unfortunately I think it's a very individual thing. I know someone who got his wife pregnant in the middle of a long heavy cycle, no hcg or any other support. I've also heard of guys on just trt that had to come completely off AND use hcg to get their fertility back. In your situation I think a lot hinges on just how fertile you were before trt. If you were fertile before, your chances are good to get that back although it may take some patience. Best of luck man.
Lost my insurance recently, and cannot afford the visits to the doctors.
But can afford a kid?
I'm not wanting to spend 1000's of dollars on Dr visits, referrals, lab tests etc if it's possible that I can use hcg, hmg, or another method. If a fertility specialist is going to give me the hcg, hmg, etc why not cut out the middle man? As I said, I have not had counts done I'm wondering if others here have been in this situation.
Doctors often do more harm than good in my personal experience, and at a huge price tag. I'd rather spend a few hundred dollars for a year or so on hcg, hmg etc and see if it helps before I she'll out that kind of money. Especially seeing as a lot of the treatment methods involve hcg.
Sorry but this answer was..........fantastic. plus 100 if I could
Thanks bros

I read this thinking the same shit! also no insurance but affords a fertility specialist to give him a sperm count?
I would look into hmg instead of hcg since hmg will have a greater impact on fsh than lh. You should go get tested though and see someone if you're serious about pregnancy
dropdzzWhat exactly is hmg?
Human menopausal gonadotropin. Do your research and go to a specialist. This is important and you shouldn't be looking for answers with the bros
Yes, HMG or HMG with HCG combined has worked for others. It increases volume and sperm count. Money shot! Lmfao
