Experience with ruptured bicep
ad
Got my cast off on my way to getting back to the gym in around 6-8 weeks. Doc said surgery went great and I should be able to heal back to 100 percent in time. This is great news for me.

bigmurphI have posted a updated pic on my profile showing the scars from my ruptured bicep surgery. I'm a month out and healing well I have 90 percent of the motion back and the pain has subsided. I have started to walk to get some type of cardio in but have not been back to the gym yet but I believe that within a month I will be in the gym lifting very light to try and rehab my bicep I have lost a major amount of size in my right arm. Hoping I will be able to get the muscle size back in a decent amount of time. I know I still have a long way to go
I tore my distal bicep of the bone last year during a muay thai match up . The promoter only had one size arm bands for all the fighters and it was a medium and even after cutting weight to 86kg it took 2 people to tie it on , each jab was causing a hack saw effect and at some point the bicep severed. It wasnt till well after the fight when I was putting some equipment away that I looked down to see my left arm was flat and the bicep had recoiled under my armpit . Fast forward a week , had surgery and because the tendon had lost 2 inches they had to drill through the forearm to anchor the thing back in place , then the bicep went over the top. Believe it or not but I had no pain during the whole process. It took me around 8 months to get the confidence to lift heavy again but when I do I get a dull pain where the titanium anchor is, aside from that im back at full strength.
bigmurphYou're one tough mother fucker bro when my bicep tore i looked down and saw it was gone when I was younger I saw a buddy maxing on preacher curls and snap his bicep was gone so I recognize what had happened instantly and that shit was so fucking painful I actually full tore bicep tendon and the something in the bottom side of my forearm.I just had my surgery 8 days ago and the pain has toned down to really fucking uncomfortable. I don't know how you felt no pain but you fighters kick the shit out of each other for fun so im sure you got a good tolerance to pain. I was told I will get back to 100 but its going to be some time.im happy to hear you healed up good.
The wife has said to me many times now " no brain no pain " , but seriously i have broken my nose twice and ankle once and I have to say the ankle would have been the worse but still not extreme. The specialist says its something about my nerve endings being desensitized that is why my pain threshold is a little higher , im probably over simplifying it.
I have no doubt your surgeon would have told you already but I would recommend from here on out to really stretch out the arm each and every time before any push/pull workout . Like i mentioned above I was really hesitant of going heavy for quite a while for fear of it snapping again ( cant repair it twice apparently) but I slowly rehabbed it with smith machines and very light concentrated DB curls on the preacher bench and cable kick backs to tie in the triceps , sure enough I came right with total recovery of strength . Good luck bro , you'll be back in action in no time.
bigmurphCouldn't figure out how to post a pic for this post so i put the pic as my profile pic

bigmurphWow I could only make it half way through the video. I still have a long way to go but I was happy about the doc telling me that eventually I will be 100 percent. When it happened he said he wasn't sure if I would be able to get to 100 percent ever again.
Fkn gory or what!!.......... i can only imagine how the pain felt when it happened bro, you must take it steady for a good while bro............ i know another guy he is actually a British Pro BB who completely snapped a bicep tendon and they put it back together with a fish hook type set up.
bigmurphYeah when it happened it was without a doubt the most pain I have ever felt and I have broken bones been stabbed twice also blew out my knee when I used to play football none of that came close to this pain it was a complete tear my bicep became part of my shoulder it just was gone when it happened
I saw that happen with my own eyes last year with a young lad at the gym, he was doing seated preacher curls, not too heavy actually.. when this fkn scream let out and he fell to the deck holding his arm, he ran over and it was like slow motion watching the whole outer head slip up into his delt... unbelievable! i couldnt believe my eyes was so strange to watch...... he was screaming his bollocks off even while they put him in the ambulance.......... never seen him since.
Makes my umbilical hernia op yesterday feel like a zit!!....... lol
bigmurphI know hernia suck also but when this happened to me that's how I knew exactly what happened same experience was helping a guy who was maxing on preacher curls and snap his bicep was gone and he dropped the bar and just started freaking out
Do you need surgery for your hernia
yeah i had it done with mesh yesterday morning bro... i am alright with it, its just that dull ache now you what i mean bro...... get the stitches out in 9 days so its take it easy time for me too lol
bigmurphWe can both enjoy the rest I guess it's actually driving me crazy I'm not used to sitting at the house .I also get my stiches out in 10 days. Can't wait to get back to it and there is still a chance I can still run my cycle I was planning for some time around march-may
