+ 1 HGH and Insulin Resistance ...my experience

ad

After being on HGH dosed at 2iu daily i recently went for my first blood work in 9 months and discovered my fasting blood sugar was at 115mg/dl which although not high are far from ideal.……my normal levels are about 85mg/dl

Looking back on the blood work i had done 3 months in in i noticed my blood blood sugar was 100mg/dl. This was never pointed out by my GP and i should have noticed the problem beginning then and backed off on my dosage to 1-1.5iu daily.

I have read many articles on HGH and insulin resistance. It seemed quite rare in doses below 2iu a day. I always thought it wouldn’t happen to me. I eat well and exercise daily and have no diabetes in my family.

So…..here comes the kicker. It turns out that insulin resistance is irreversible which i can confirm, as my fasting blood sugar is still at 110-115 one month after stopping completely.

I know that bodybuilders will use insulin to offset any insulin resistance at high doses. Metformin can also be used.I really miss the HGH and the benefits i got from it so i intend to start again at 1.5iu a day and monitor by blood sugar very closely.

I will also take a low daily dose of Metformin as it has also showed to have anti cancer and many other long term benefits.

I was hoping to hear of any other Eroid members that may have had a similar experience and maybe learn something new along the way.

Thanks for posting your experience. I too thought that using under 2 iu insulin sensitivity would be a non-issue. I have the same story as you. No diabetes in family, exercise and eat healthily, all my labs always come back perfect. Like perfect! So now I am about to begin gh I am doing quite a lot of reading and learning as I'd rather anticipate and avoid problems rather than resolve them after the fact.

Metformin is cheap and if it helps a problematic and avoidable condition, as well as offering the anti-cancer properties which as you say, it does, then seems sensible to use it. What dose are you taking? I have Metformin, but am having trouble working out what the dose should be....

(Here's a 3 year old article. I hope people don't mind my sharing this. http://www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2012/11/Metformin-Makes-Headline-N...)

*And yet again, I try to send "thumbs up" for posts I appreciate but the thumbs up thing never ever works for me. I can see the icons but if I click on them they never register my vote. I have tried 3 browsers and asked several times but have not found the reason for this annoying problem. I'd have voted you a "thumbs up" if I had been able. I did try.....

This is a very good post and something people do not take enough notice of.

I have also developed slight insulin resistance from the long term use of HGH.
