I k ow this is an old thread but I can kind of relate. My uncle was a bodybuilder and owned a gym. He got throat cancer and deteriated down to nothing. He took his life I think because what he worked for his whole life was gone.
You know I hate to say this but 600 000 people per year die from liver cancer world wide, Of course there will bodybuilders among them,,.. AUTOMATICALLY on the few bodybuilders the burden goes to being a bodybuilder, so ridiculous how this assumption works
Same goes with heart attacks, kidney failer, suicides, etc,... list is endless
edit; just noticed some similar posts below
Heartbreaking, rip big homie.
Yes I have never heard anything good about those energy drinks.... But who know's?
very sad to see any man such condition in the after picture..must of been very stressful and hard for not just him, but also all his family, loved ones and friends.
even more so when someone takes such pride in there body.
rip.
AnonWithout knowing what he was taking and the amounts there's no way of knowing what happened here. For all we know he was pounding 150mg of dbol for months at a time and hitting the bottle. Was there a genetic factor? Any other medications?
That's not to lessen the impact of what happened here, it's awful and tragic. We all lost a brother in iron. As someone said previously, make sure you're healthy before starting, that is key.
Very sad, like everyone said so many things could be a factor. On another note is his girl taking a selfie next to her dying husband or what ever he is to her wtf.
AnonThere's so many outside factors that it's impossible to blame. The liver failing from caloric intake is highly, highly doubtful. Abusing pro-hormones and orals? Very, very likely. Not to mention genetics play a role and the fact that he could have just been on that path genetically with or without bodybuilding. If you took average Joe with a heart defect and he has a heart attack, nobody blinks an eye. Take the same guy, give him a bodybuilding history and a different physique and bam - sensationalized media story attacking steroids.
JarodFromSubwayMy thoughts exactly. I tell people that all the time.
Thank you!
Nobody knows what the reason might be but that poor guy and god. He could of been drinking half a bottle of vodka a night with a dozen pain killers for all we know. It's a shame either way but it will definitely get blown out of proportion because he was a bodybuilder.
RIP bro. Very sad story, I feel for his wife n kid.
41 year old who's good friend of a guy I train with just got liver cancer. From what my friend told me he was a heavy oral user. This is sad l, RIP
reminds me of this guy from ciggarette packets, all over the tv advert here as well, says he died from lung cancer ten weeks after diagnosis, turns out after people don a little digging, he actually had aids aswell.
im not saying this is the case here, but there could be more to the story.
sad either way. rip.
Baldur2630Nasty, horrid STEROIDS. for a man his size, 10,000 calories is BS. When I was 26, 1 weighed 110 kgs, I used to be VERY Active, Judo, Karate, Jiu Jitsu etc. I also did serious bodybuilding 4 days weekly and spent at least 2 hrs a day in the gym.
I ate 7 or 8 times daily, always high protein meals. I ate around 5-6,000 calories daily. I don't care how many steroids you pump into your body, ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT ON THAT KIND OF MUSCLE ON PIZZA AND BURGERS..
This story is typical media hype and bullshit. On 10,000 calories per day, it would have to be an extremely high fat diet and fat does not magically turn to muscle. Only protein can make muscle.
As an experiment, try eating 10,000 calories for just ONE day, but you would have to make certain that on that day you consumed AT LEAST 1.6 - 1.8 gm of protein per kg of your bodyweight. Less than that and you would NEVER gain that kind of muscle.
Serious Boldybuilders consume >2.00 gm protein / kg of bodyweight. A lot of that comes from protein shakes.
This story will probably go on and steroids will be the thing that gets blamed.
Huh must guys I know that compete drink very few protein drinks they get most what they need eating real food. Have no idea where u get that serious bodybuilders get most there protein from shakes is b.s..
Some guys metabolism is so fast that they wouldn't gain much mass without dirty bulking. There the lucky few that can eat and eat and eat whatever they want and not get fat. There's guys all natty that look great and eat shit all day but have out of this world genetics. If u dont believe guys eat that much your wrong Michel Phelps ate 10 ta 12,000 calories a day when training for the Olympics in swimming and he was tested all the time for ped and he was a fit smaller frame guy.
X2...i dropped my shakes and added food...started gaining better solid mass...and i feel it too....whey protein isolate is getting too expensive and it seems to be getting cut more and more with WPC....
I still do one shake post workout but like RT said, take it slow. Shakes should not be abused tho or as a food replacement , it is a supplement
x 2 bro, nothing wrong with a shake to fill dietary requirements when needed, especially straight after training, i use them, but like you said as a supplement, not a staple lol, i was at the supp shop a few weeks ago, i was actually having a try of a new shake that came into the store with the owner, this dude comes in, hes asking questions, the dude was a twig, hes like ive been training flat out for 3 years but im not gaining, what do use recommend? im like how much do you eat? he said i have 4 shakes a day and what ever mum cooks for dinner! lmfao, he does not consume any food what so ever untill dinner time, i said thats your problem, diet, he said but i use a pre work out as well, i dont understand, smfh! lol
That's the truth, I can consume the same amount of cals protein fats and carbs with 6 whole meals vs 3 whole meals and 3 shakes and the results with all whole meals is far superior. Even the amount of weight I gain is different. Shakes just don't seem to stick they kinda go right through you. Just my experience over the years
when i was up to 235. the biggest i ever was. i ate 4 meals and drank 3 shakes every day.
but those shakes had whole foods blended in them. im sure it slowed digestion down. tons of peanutbutter, yogart, milk, quick oats, banana. i went through up to 6 cups of quick oats a day.
i feel like the mistake people often make with shakes is they dont add any real calories to it. 2 scoops of whey isolate does not provide you with a "MEAL"s worth of calories. those heavy fats and complex carbs slow down digestion too.
My shakes consist of oats, quinoa, as the carb sources and egg whites and whey. For protein and some olive oil for fats. So they're pretty good shakes. I know it's is whole food and some of the best if not the best protein and carb sources. I think my problem was chugging them instead of slowly consuming it. Either way now I like to try and eat 5 whole meals and 1 shake post workout and maybe one of those shakes. Just seems to work better for me. I keep saying I need to add digestive enzymes to every meal also. Gotta get on that asap. I think that will help a lot with digestion and absorbion.
That is the ticket right there. When I make a shake there is a whole lot more in it than just whey and milk. Oatmeal, peanut butter, sweet potatoes, various fruits, nuts, whatever are always put in my shakes. I also make my green superfoods shakes which are good for you for a multitude of reasons.
My gf makes me green shakes also with spinach strawberrys bananas cottage cheese and some other veggies. I feel great when I drink one of those everyday.
The key to getting the most from your shakes is to sip it. Take 20 ta 30 mins and your body will absorb most of it. This was words of wisdom from the great vike lol. It does work better this way than chugging it
I believe you're 100% right, Viking even talked about this. Problem is after years of drinking them I'm so sick it I just get it down. I'm gonna try slow it down a bit and just suck it up.
Make them into smoothies. Then you have to drink them slow otherwise you get brainfreeze.
you reeber that guy a few weeks back? always saying shakes and creatine lol, i reckon this is him pretending hes a 74 year old man.
mosaku/ optikx
He's a troll bro lol
Baldur2630Fuck you. I eat chicken, fish, steak, liver and eggs. I'm no longer a serious bodybuilder. I was into that in the 1960's and in the country that I lived in, you couldn't gert protein shakes and steroids weren't around (at least not in the circles that I lived in) I was 1.96 m tall (6' 6") and weighed 110 kg. Measuring body fat wasn't around either, but I had very little and I was a lot bigger than the guy in the newspaper.
You can't hope to compare someone like Michael Phelps or any endurance / speed athlete with a bodybuilder, it's like comparing apples to bananas. Swimmers, runners, and the like need very little protein (in comparison), they eat huge amounts of energy giving foods and fat gives energy as does high carb diets.
If you really think that a bodybuilder whose main goal is to put on as much muscle as possible can gain muscle on fat, you need to visit a shrink, because there is something wrong with you!
When (or more like IF) you ever reach 74 and you have a pension to work with and you WANT to work but no-one wants to employ you because of your age, in spite of the fact that you are healthier and fitter than most of the young guys working there, try to work out which is the cheapest, a kg of chicken or fish or steak or that same amount of protein in a protein shake. GROW UP!
Anyone else find this to be the real definition of "ironic"??????
sure your 74 lol. Most 74 year olds I know have such a bad attitude like yours and start off with Fuck u lol. Btw I didn't compare Michel Phelps to a body builder dipshit. I gave him as an example some guys have such a fast metabolism that they have to eat unbelievable amounts of food. Your such a troll why don't u put up pics there 74 year old and have a piece of paper with your eriods name on.
how long you been around the forum bro? your typing reminds me of a recent member who is no longer around??
Baldur2630I joined here on July 23 and no I wasn't around before that.
Heartbreaking.
StevebPeople who live heal lifestyles get liver cancer.
This is very sad for sure. Are you making some kind of point in sharing this horror story with the AAS community? Just curious what the motivation is behind sharing such a sad story.
This is very sad indeed. Cancer is one of the worst ways to go.
The only point I think one[of us] could gather from this, is only cycle of you're healthy. Get checkups regularly, and don't play with orals and your liver.
