No, it isn't. It's higher, invariably considerably higher in most cases.
Not sure if it's just lack of knowledge or people bullshitting to gain more credibility. Either way, if you're looking for helpful advice, at least spend ten minutes of your precious time looking at some of the links people have posted here to make a reasonable comparison.
Getting an accurate BF measurement actually requires some genuine skill in terms of the person with the calipers. I've had guys tell me they're at 4% BF, calculated by their coach, who are in reality twice that figure. Most people would never achieve that figure, (myself included). Asks anyone that competes, tearing yourself down to 5 or 6% is painful and requires a huge level of determination and discipline.
What I'm asking for here is to give the guys and girls that work the cycles section handing out free advice the best info you can. Don't fill out your stats with crap, it doesn't help and it makes you less credible and hence likely to receive help. You get nothing from claiming to have a lower BF, it's only the Internet.

Im up there with good rounded muscles but no ab lines to speak of. Kind of a powerlifter style physique which Im looking to change but will take time.

I love this post. There was an undergrad in one of my labs saying the same exact thing: my coach used calipers and measured me at 7%, I looked at him and was like nope not even 10. He was all broski about it so I put him on our most accurate BIA machine and he was twice that... the look on his face was priceless.
i would estimate i am around %14, my abs are visible, i dont train abs though, i never had any body fat or muscle, i was the skinny kid, at age 16 i was skin and bone, you could see my ribs and collar bones, i was 67 kgs at 6 foot 2 back then, skeletor, 14 years later im sitting 105kgs vascular, visible abs etc etc, the biggest i got was 116kgs and that would have been %20 body fat, my whole body was lean and vascular but i had a gut, i play aussie rules footy so where im at now is more practical.
I'm somewhere between 0-50%.
I'm pretty sure my bf number is lower than my age.

As far as comps are concerned, I'm just grabbing skin and I don't think the calipers are really helpful at all. Besides, the mirror at that point is the only thing that counts. I keep trying to find a place that does under water weighing but no such luck where I live in Florida. But, yeah, everyone is just about ready to walk on stage recently with just a little tuning up. 6-8%. Give me a fucking break! Then the next line is I want to gain 20 lbs. of LBM but I want to stay around 8% while doing it. What compounds should I run? This is delusional.

Looks real high tech - and expensive. Prolly second best thing to under water weighing seems like. I know the gyms around me don't have anything like that but I'm sure some kind of rejuvenation center or such has got one. Thanks. I'm happy when the A/C is working at my gym. LOL
You would be correct about bod pod being a 2nd best to hydrostatic weigh tanks. I had a question on an exam asking the percent error ranges for each and every conventional measure, but unfortunately I don't remember those numbers. Suffice to say all other measures are compared to the tank (gold standard). Only thing as accurate as the tank is a DEXA scanner... and those are really expensive.

I would also love to do a water test. I am personally confused as hell as to what my own number is. I still hold a little adipose fat but everything else is nicely striated and vascular. The adipose fat is slowly but surely leaving but damn does it take its sweet time...
That always seems like the last to go. My belly and legs is where the fat seems to hang on the longest.
I just keep reminding myself where I was and where I am and keep going. Most dudes would be thrilled to look like I do I suppose, I just have to stay motivated and watch the results happen. I do love seeing new striations come popping out.

Everyone's body fat is lower than reality recently. I honestly don't know where some of you get your numbers from.
4.8% right now. Hitting the stage in 3 days. I don't see how people can get much under 5%. It is sheer hell getting that low.
I got measured at that exact same percentage in my first year of undergrad... of course I was 150lbs soaking wet and playing soccer 30+ hrs a week, but it was a highly accurate model of BIA machine, so error range was less than +/- 4%.

You're one of the few guys that can get where you are. About 5.5% is my typical ceiling for comp.
How do you guys even measure that low at end of prep with such accuracy? I just look in the mirror. When the final fat comes off my butt and hamstrings, that's about it for me. 3 days out, I'm still holding some sub q water that I shed with a diuretic - that water would screw up any caliper test.
Hey I fluctuate from 2% Friday morning to 10% Sunday night every week! This is easily attainable eating donuts and cake every day!
