planet fitness wtf
ad
Okay seen this planet fitness commercial and there a big guy running a towel between his legs. All the while talking to this other guy that doesn't work out. So the big guy keeps saying did u get your burn on bros know when they get there burn on all in the locker room. The dude that never works out says that why I don't go to the gym. So the planet fitness guy says we are not a gym we are planet fitness. It follows by the screen saying NO GYMTIMIDATION,NO LUNKS.
This is the first time I have ever heard lunks. So guys that workout are lunks? Who in the Hell would ever go to this place?

My gym is over run with skinny crossfit fags and their fat girlfriends lately. Today a couple plopped down right in the middle of the free benches by the dumbbell racks and started slamming a medicine ball on the floor. Fucking annoying.
I like what cybrsage said below. There are different "levels" of gyms for sure. Some one who has never exercised and has a weight problem could get a start at a place like Planet Fitness and then move on.
Don't get me started on that place.

I know a lot of people whose self esteem is low they are seriously afraid to join a gym due to it...so they stay fat and unhealthy forever. Planet fitness, if used properly, can be a great starting point. It has enough equipment and dumbbells for a beginner to use.
Once the diet is fixed, and the person is regularly exercising at Planet Fitness, they will eventually outgrow it. By then, they will have gained enough confidence to go to a real gym.
I can see that as a great reason for Planet Fitness to exist. I have a membership at one for such a reason, a very overweight (45% body fat) friend of mine is slowly recovering his health and his self esteem is just to low to go anywhere but Planet Fitness. I am there to help him work himself to the point where he realizes he has outgrown it and moves to a real gym.
I totally agree with everything you have said. PF is a great resource for a particular subset of the population. In America, this is a huge subset, unfortunately. So at least they know their target market.
But, I think PF also takes advantage of their members. The first thing they ask when you sign up is "give us your bank account number". The best possible outcome for them is for you to stop coming, but still bill you and make it as big of a pain as possible to cancel. This could be said for many gyms, but it really stands out with PF.
Second, all that pizza wednesday business, what's up with that? They are basically saying "Great progress! Now take it all away with this pizza so you have to keep coming back".
So it still has its pitfalls even for casual members. Granted, you don't have to eat the pizza and you can probably pay a higher rate to avoid giving them your bank account, but it all just reeks of dishonesty. I know I wouldn't give them my money, but I'm also not who they are looking for as a customer. I hope your friend does well and graduates to that big boy gym soon. I'd design his split so he never goes on a Wednesday! lol
I agree, they do take advantage of their members if their members let them. I personally think most people want the mental relief that comes with saying they belong to a fitness center / gym. They can go at any time...though they actually are never going.
The Planet Fitness in my area does not have Pizza night. Not sure if I feel relieved or ripped off.
The best thing about Planet Fitness is all the hotties that go there!
Definitely. They pay and never go and don't even feel ripped off because then they can say they "have a gym membership" lol. But to each their own. Maybe that's worth it to them in some weird way but that's not how my brain works.
Man the PF I checked out was just a bunch of senior citizens and out of shape soccer moms. And my gym partner was a lesbian. Just got back from the doc and he said I have the worst case of desert dick he's ever seen. It's not looking good for me man!
The best time to find them, at least at my location, is between 4 and 6 PM. I have to say, it was great motivation to add a little more weight to everything my friend and I were doing.
Not just cardio bunnies, but there are women using the nautilus machines, dumbbells, and smith machines!
I try to go when there's more activity, because when it's just 2-3 other guys in the gym I can never get quite as much motivation. Deep down you know hardly anyone is looking, but when the place is buzzing you are convinced everyone is looking at you and knows you just lifted 10 more lbs than usual and got 2 extra reps. Strut: engaged!
LOL It is sad, but it is true at the same time!
@cybrsage, You have a great point. We all started somewhere, whether young or old, fit or fat. This place is marketing to potential customers who simply NEED TO START. Everyone of us here can agree, JUST START. Cross fit? Sure, START. Kettle bell workout? Good, START! Powerlifting routine? Whatever, GET GOING! Getting momentum is incredibly difficult for some. If this place can help peeps with that, good on them.
Many people are too afraid to simply start lifting iron because they think they are competing with other people in the gym. For some of us, it takes years to realize, a person should only focus on their own workout, not what other people are doing. Compete with yourself from last week, last month, last year, etc. When I got that breakthrough in my skull, it was like a weight was lifted from my own lifting. (I know, that's a dumb analogy, but you get the point.) Compete with yourself, not with the guy next to you! There's always someone bigger or smaller. They don't matter. Today's workout does.
@cybersage, good work helping your unhealthy brother out. We all gotta have each other's backs.
Found this little gem a few of Planet Fitness' best
They even attack yoga and zumba -_- really?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkKMs97HI1A
Can't say much here I've wanted to attack a few yoga and zumba girls myself lol
I would love to get all the big guys from every gym in a 30 mile radius and have us all descend upon planet fitness at the same time. Then, when they lunk alarm us or try to kick us out we simply RAMPAGE!
What if I'm the skinny guy but identify as the lunk?
When I was a kid I used to draw pictures of myself as a lunk.
Will Planet Fitness keep me out?
This guy just wants his gains, think they'd kick him out?

I never pay attention to how much weight a person is moving...unless it is heavy. Planet fitness is just capitalizing off an issue that doesnt exist. They even made up their own buzzword that nobody uses.
That was hilarious lmfao! People don't act like that in a real gym not even the monsters..lol. No matter your fitness level you shouldn't be intimidated by anyone get in there do what ya have to and get out the big guys don't care if your small or whatever the case except for a few douche bags. I've never even seen a planet fitness the closest one to me is about 150 miles away hell they don't even play the commercials here...lol
Hmmm you get your burn on hmmm lol
What day do they have pizza? I'd almost try to join for some dirty bulk. I can definitely kill more than $10 in pizza.
That whole concept is fucked up. And they're getting Rich off of it.
I dont drop weights, or grunt and scream. I still wouldn't work out there though.
We don't have them in the UK, but it's almost as if I designed my gym as the "Anti Planet Fitness"
Wish I could go there all the time. The motivation a good gym gives u is pricless
TronI was joking with powerpump about one of his self pics where I ask if he was at planet fitness..look at what he said about planet fitness.
actually told him he couldn't join!!!
@rolltide3, this forum is all about sharing experiences in helping people make better informed decisions in regards to their lifting & training. Your shared info here has simply helped me decide that, in the event I live in a town where Planet Fitness is an option, I simply assume I will not be a customer of theirs. Good on you for sharing this commercial, indeed.
Planet Fitness = Been a loser is fine, come join us
Go look at the link of the video. It's a a classic
Different strokes for different folks.
Goth got booted from the local planet fitness..
mikeyg4321I remember his story. Lmao the whole time reading it.
Guess I'm lucky I live in a small area. I'd say the closest planet fitness is Proly three hours away lol
mikeyg4321I couldnt wear a stringer shirt, or bring my gallon of water in. Like I really wanna make 20 trips to the water fountain. -_- I used to go there before I went to the darkside
Here's a link to the commercial you are referring to brother Rolltide! I couldn't have said it any better than brother Darth below! Theirs is a culture that embraces failure!
They can take their 10.00 membership fee and....... Lol
http://youtu.be/Rn5mzEAMAkY
That commercial is so messed up lmao. Thanks from the link
RustyhookerThey openly post their pizza fridays. Local planet fit - less opened and fliers about pizza and friendship.
Sounds a lot more like the liberal peace first spot. Love pizza and care bears. Lol
Thats the most unmotivated gym ive ever seen. Theyre against being swole, too cut, or in shape so I dont know how they get away with calling it a gym haha.
Bro the commercial that I just seen the planet fitness guy said that's s isn't a gym it's planet fitness lol. They don't even call themselves a gym. Hmmm u get your burn on bro. This big dude saying this all deep voice running a towel between his legs. Shit was fucked up
Gym for the weak and pudgy
TronHere's my experience at Planet Fitness.. wrote this a couple years ago.
https://www.eroids.com/forum/general/off-topic/a-planet-fitness-experien...
I just watched this lmao. Okay I'd be kicked out in the first ten minutes
TronYeah, there is a video on youtube somewhere where these big ass dudes troll planet fitness getting kicked out on purpose.. I'll post a link if I find it. It's funny as hell.. I still very vividly remember when that lady told me "we don't have scales at planet fitness because we are a judgement free zone" .. lol I didn't know how to respond.. I probably looked like a dear in headlights man.
@Tron, I'll comment here instead of on you original blog post. Dude, you're dead on. I agree with you, "to each their own," but I won't be a customer of a place that doesn't "allow" real iron, stinky sweat, or god forbid, dropping a dumbbell because your arms are dead. The gyms that get my money smell like sin, regret, and disinfectant cleaner (only occasionally).
TronWere you a member before? not at planet fitness but on eroids.
Well your experience goes right along with the commercial lol. Why would anybody go there? So if your getting into your workout breaking a sweat they stop u with the clunk lights lol
TronAnd if the lunk alarms don't work out they call the cops and get you arrested.. watch what happens to this guy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeBb-8nWANA
@Tron, that video just made me bummed. I feel for the guy, cuz damn, he just wants to lift. But I also feel for the establishment, because they're certainly trying to attract customers who don't train, they just "exercise." Which is totally fine, but this dude was simply in the wrong facility to train. Bummer, all the way around. Our sissy culture is a bummer, but the fact that this guy can't find a place where he truly belongs is a bummer too. I'm just glad this forum exists for guys and gals that want better info on their training choices. This info has taught me, "Planet Fitness is not the right place for Zeus." I digress. Thanks for the share on that link.
Planet fatness is one if those gyms that really isn't a gym. Here's why I hate them tho, they say that there is no pressure at their gym or any of that...
But their whole business model revolves around keeping people unfit by giving them pizza and bagels. Don't get me wrong from a business standpoint it's an excellent idea. Morally tho, I hate them.
You are a little late to the fight bro. They have been saying this shit for a couple years. They also talk shit about hot chicks. Their culture is one of embracing failure.
I have only been to one planet fitness been a few years ago. Have u seen this commercial it's unbelievable. What's there bad to say about hot chicks?
