+ 1 Leg day blaster for the brave!
This leg day routine is not for the beginner but for someone who has been lifting a few years and is dealing with "stubborn" legs that refuse to grow. I have tried this on myself and a few of my stronger clients and I can say that it is nothing short of phenomenal. Use this only 2-3 times a month depending on how often you hit legs hard and I would be shocked if you did not break some plateaus.
- Warm up for 5min on the stair master or other form of leg heavy cardio ie. Bike on high tension
- Take a weight that you can handle for 10-15 reps, then do 5 reps per leg, rotating legs for 5min non stop.
*First set should consist of a heavy compound movement, after that you should be ready to go for the rest of the routine. Target your weakest link first then go down the line doing your strongest movements last. Hamstrings and glutes tend to be common weak spots for many.
- Angled leg press or Hack sled (5min)
- Leg curl (5min)
- Glute machine (5min)
- Barbell/Dumbbell lunge (5min)
- Leg extension (5min)
- Super set inner / outer thigh machine (5min)
(8-10 reps per set for these) - Seated calf (5min)
- Donkey calf (5min)
If you have done this style of workout before you know the pain and results will be awesome. Pat yourself on the back as you crawl to your car and drive home after a crazy workout that lasted less than 1 hour! The key to making this work is taking very short breaks (much shorter than normal, just pause to sip water and briefly stretch).
Total workout time should be 45-50 min tops, hopefully no one will be hogging any of the machines you will need or it will not be the same. Enjoy, give it a shot and let me hear your feedback afterwards.
*Get creative with this style and use it for other muscle groups as well.

AnonI like it bro +2. Legs are always a both to train and I'm always looking for something new to challenge them.
Check this short video out of Phil Heath doing squats. This technique is killer and you will definitely get some DOMS from this. I add these to my leg routine every once in a while to pound them into submission.
Check it out:

wow those are some very limited rom squats by the mr o! 315 on squat is not heavy for a man of his size imho. im going to do half rom squats and see if i can do 20 with 315 next gym session lol. i managed 8 full rom with that weight just 3 days ago and im nowhere near that big lol
AnonThe constant tension is a bitch. I did 5 sets of it with 225 and damn it destroyed my legs. You start out strong but it catches up to you. Don't lock out at top. Just keep tension the whole time. Good doms after too in your tear drop and glutes. Rip it up man!!
Thanks brother, always looking for good tips to use on myself and my clients.
Thanks for sharing the leg day blaster, My legs I despise them they are so enormous and monster Lol. I have the BIGGEST calves ever and i truly need to thin them down and I'm short so this doesn't help much, and i know you have better target issue regions. there is my exercise schedule http://www.healthauthoreviews.com/fat-loss-4-idiots-review/
when it comes to legs I really think time under tension is the way to go, drop sets, strip sets, rest pause, all are good for legs imo, upper body I like to just hit it hard and heavy with maybe one drop set or total fatigue set every once in awhile
That is very true. Same applies to forearms, abs and shoulders, if you want to get them striations and cuts you need to dig deep and hang around in the pain zone a lot longer than most can bear. Its what separates the good from the great.
