+ 1 embracing my disease and my plan to weight gain with crohn's disease
ok heres my story........
at the age of 18 i was mid cycle test and deca (iknow low age but this thread is not about that) i got a great pain one night in my bowel stomach area didnt think too much of it so i went out for my friends birthday drinking, woke up the next morning in great pain!! gong to the toilet every 5 mins to release the pain a little after about 24 hours there was nothing else to come out thats when i noticed blood...with this i took 3 trips the the hospital and neally 36hours of pain for them to say i have crohns disease...i was given tablets by my doctor to take every day of my life,i used the tablets for about a month and stopped them thinking i new better than the doctors....fast forward a little to now 6 years later with no problems the blood has started again and extreme weight loss and the past 6 months just low energy and feeling all around shitting....so now been a little bit older im embracing my disease starting the proper protocol with my medication...ive also been able to put a little weight on each year but miss a meal and it falls straight back off...so now doing all this research on disease on the net and with my doctor i now know that i suffer from low absorption of nutrients and water.....so i have to get a lot more of these from food and supplements....so with this i have put togeather a high nutrition plan including 3 to 5 fruits a day and 5 veggies a day plus complex carbs and proteins with this my doctor tells me that just wont cut it so im going to take a double dose of a multivitamin a day plus digestive enzymes to brake down my foods for better absorption and some probiotics im also going to throw in a double serving of a mass gainer every day but a good one with low suger some thing like true mass obv this is a added expense so im going to drop creatine and pre workouts and aminos and focus on food supplements..
i pritty lucky i have a mild case of this disease i only have to go to the bathroom max twice a day with my medication....
height 6ft 3inch
current body weight is around 220lbs
looking to put around 15 pounds off mass in the next 20 weeks

alrite mate, sorry to hear about your chrons, I myself have an autoimmune inflammatory disease which is a bitch at times and has effected my training. I am having great success in treating my disease with RICK SIMPSON OIL and now have it in full remission. do some research for yourself on the oil a good place to start would be to watch the documentary RUN FROM THE CURE on youtube. briefly it goes over how certain medications are being supressed by global pharma companies as no application for a patent can be granted by something that is directly from nature and not synthesised in lab, therefor no money to be made. after all that's what its all about for them. good luck
snap.
cheers for the replies guys like i said i dont have it bad compared to some people.....i can remember neally two years ago when i was doing a dirty bulk up i was using the most dirty mass gainer ever lol crazy calories and i remember my strentgh and muscle gains...infact the strentgh gains was better than any steroid cycle i have done...if i can just find a clean way of doing it again i would be happy...worst thing is im very tall so my weight needs to be at least around 240lbs (now 220)...i will update weekly...im starting it all monday
68QI would try cooking food in a crock pot. Crock pot makes most stuff very tender. Then I would blend. I would try to get vitamins that dissolve under tongue. I would not eat anything unless it served a purpose. I would look at the time it takes the body to process what you eat. Example it takes longer to process steak than it does fish. I would search for a doctor that has a lot of experience with the disease and listen and follow their instruction.
I've got a similar auto immune disease, and have poor nutrient absorption as a result. I find that grains in general irritate my gut, and raise inflammation. I try to get less carbs from grains, and more from starches.. sweet potatoes, yams and white potatoes are easy on my gut and bring loads of carbs into my diet.
I'm glad you're trying to find a way the make this work instead of using it as an excuse on why you can't reach your goals. It is what it is man, and there's no point in doing anything other then trying to find out the best way around it as you can't change it. I get horrible migraines basically everyday and most of the time I just wanna shoot myself it's so painful. but then I realize that it could be worse and I could be dead. So just think of it like that, it can always be worse.
My suggestions is to find a good recipe for a homemade mass gainer with good complex carbs and good fats. I grind up a cup of oats, add some whole milk, 2 scoops of protein powder and 2 table spoons of natural peanut butter and right there you have a high calorie shake with all the good stuff in it without all the bullsshkt that's in the store brand mass gainers. And it's not filling like if you ate a 1200 calorie meal. But even myself, without the problems you have with your dijestive system feel like I don't absorb liquid meals as good as whole food. So try to get in as much whole food as possible. But I obviously don't have what you do so maybe liquid is better, I don't know. But good luck.
anyone with any advice please jump in.....
p.s i dont have any problem with any types of food that triggers my disease
