+ 3 Injection site infection
ad
ok fellas take a lesion from me.. MAKE SURE you properly clean the injection site and vial before injecting the oil. went to the doc today cause my left chest muscle is very swollen and red doc confirmed I had a abcess starting shot me full of antibiotics and gave me 2 persciptions for antibiotics and now I have to take off from the gym for a week per doc orders. been in the game for 9 years and all it takes is one slip up .. never skip any steps just because your in a hurry make sure you properly sterilize your skin and the top of the vial with an alcohol pad. Leasson learned and a good reminder to old and New members.

I'm pretty good at keeping everything clean... I wipe the vial down with alcohol, and my buttcheek... then the vial again, at this point I unwrap my syringe and fill it up, recap, then wipe vial 3rd time...put vial up... then wipe buttcheek again... pin.. wipe buttcheek yet again... following the pattern? alcohol is cheap..surgery not so much... I never pin in the bathroom to many airborne pathogens.. I like to stay in my master bedroom, right next to my juice draw... believe me you never wanna say, "I should have" when running AAS
AnonA lot of us probably shoot in the bathroom right? I pretty much always do. I practice very sterile technique and for the longest time was just at a complete loss as to how I actually got an infection considering I had already been using the gear and knew it was fine. So one time I happen to look up and notice the AC vent is directly above where I lean against when I hit my glutes and also was very dirty. I looked closely for a while and noticed a few small dust particles coming down here or there. In the 30 seconds or however long the cap was off I'm assuming a spec of dust had to land on the pin.... So anyways to this day I both turn off my AC a while before I'm going to pin and let the air throughout the house settle + I actually clean my damn vents.
I've actually had two infections total, but one was some dirty ass gear from a source I cannot fucking believe is still alive and well but anyways.... air flow can get ya too if you're extra lucky.
That dirty gear though.... After sitting for just 2 weeks an entire bacteria colony had already erupted inside. Threw out the entire order (obviously) I'm still bitter about that one lol.
there are so many mistakes in here its off the hook..
buy 18 gauge to draw with. swap needles. (WITH OUT TOUCHING THEM).Keeping the plastic cap
on the needle..screw on a 25/26 and inject all the way to the bottom of the pin, inject,
and withdraw... then THROW OUT THE NEEDLE and the barrel...
needles are cheap.. your health isnt..
lets add to this list..
YOU DO NOT SET A SYRINGE DOWN while preparing for injection. (once the syringe is out of the wrapper it is NO LONGER STERILE) Don't be an idiot like some nurses these days and set a syringe down as they wipe your injection site with a swab. I know because whenever i get vaccines they fucking do this.
YOU DONT BLOW ON THE AREA OF INJECTION after swabbing with alcohol. Let it air dry
DONT TAKE THE NEEDLE CAP OFF until you inject.
yes !!..
Sorry bro. Thanks for posting this. After 15 years, I'm confident but definitely not casual about pinning. This is also where u better know your lab. I don't by gear from little boutique shops out of downright fear of what one little microbe can do. Could we filter all our stuff. Sure. I'm a bit too lazy for the Whatman syringe filter routine. Rather buy from a bigger lab with GMP implemented in some form. The Lord was definitely looking out for you bro. Heal up! Best, GearHead
Thanks for the comment, my chest muscle is super hard and swollen.. And it moved up a lilt bit to my shoulder which leaves me to believe it could be a large part in in absorbed gear. Cause when the stuck me with a syringe yesterday it was a creamy fluid with a smell almost like chemically.. It reminded me of when I had same problem in my quad it became same way and it traveled down towards my knee cause very bad pain for a couple weeks . But I'm on 3 different antibiotics so I should be good
I've been lucky. Being a bit OCD. Helps. I keep a script of cephalexin on hand in case. My doc is really cool. I call in and tell him I stepped on a nail and he'll call in a script. Maybe because he's seen me for stepping on about 5 nails over the years, but I feel good having it on hand. Hopefully I never need it.
Good advice. I am so anal when it comes to keeping everything clean; I even wipe down the needle after taking it out of the package; and wipe it again after getting all the air out. I then wipe the injection again since it dried up while wiping down the needle. If I accidentally brush up the spot i rinse and repeat I wash my hands then alcohol again. I use 97% Isopropyl alcohol.
+1. Sterility is key. And if you think you may have an abscess or an infection. Get to the docs/ER asap. The quicker its treated the better the outcome.
lucky I think I caught mine in time according to the doc.. this ties right in with your post
Sure does, that pic is a hard one to shake outa my head. I had an episode last summer. Was developing an abscess. Went to some clown at the walk-in who lectured me, then shoved a harpoon looking needle in my arm and pulled out some ooze, gave me a broad spectrum antibiotic and sent me on my way. A few days later I start feeling sick, wake up soaked with a very high fever so I hit the ER. They took me right in, next thing you know Im getting antibiotics through an IV and had to stay for damn near 12 hours. Turned out it was an infection which was resistant to penicillin based antibiotics. Was quite the experience.
dams bro well at least you didn't have to get it lanced open. but your right that pic speaks a thousand words
get well bro, i had an infection this year, infections are no joke..
I forgot to swab the top of the vial once and nearly freaked out after I had realized it after I injected. Luckily no infection. Now I lay everything out ahead of time before I take a shower so I don't forget to do anything. Being in a hurry before injecting is not good thing. Nice to be reminded every once in a while.
Good post +3
Easy to get caught up in "auto-pilot", I skipped wiping a vial 2 wks ago and thought of it as I was pinning. There is no place for complacency in this game :(
thanks but lucky for me I went to the doc early he gave me 4 cc"s of rocephin and two other antibiotics to take for 20 days .. thanks for chiming in
Good reminder. What steps did you skip?
just hopped straight from the shower and was in a hurry and skipped all the steps did not use anything to sterilize.. my stupid mistake and my ignorance.
Very easy to do. Thanks again for the post and reminder. (Sorry for your pain though).
