+ 12 4 Weeks Cutting with Intermittent Fasting

ad

Been trying out this Intermittent Fasting when I heard it from a guy at the gym, thought I'd give it a shot. Loving the results so far. Doing 16 hour fast / 8 hour eating window.
Been able to keep carbs fairly high and no cardio is a plus; 300g carbs on rest days and 400g carbs on workout days and fat still seems to be melting off. Big meals while cutting also keeps my sanity!
I am tempted to try it on a bulk next year but not quite sure how it would go trying to cram 5000+ calories in an 8 hour feeding window.
Possibly also thinking of competing in the tall physique division in the IFBB comp next year in March down here in AUS.. Although I have no clue about contest prep!!

Hey dan,I've been doing the IF for almost 2 weeks now.I like it.I don't even get that hungry during the fast period. The last meal ends around 6pm and I fast until 10am.I have coffee in the morning. It works out good because I can get to the gym earlier.I used to have breakfast in the morning around 7am and then would have to wait until 10am to workout.I had to wait because I felt too full to workout.I don't feel tired or weak when I workout.I only need to eat between 3200 and 3800 a day,so I don't have it as hard as you do.I'm not noticing much yet in fat loss but it's only been 2 weeks.

Sweet, I'm starting this tomorrow since I fucking hate eating and I have no time to eat throughout the day anyway.

Looking great brother! Beautifully structured and shapely muscular physique! Tight, dense, lean and symmetrical! I would definitely go with the bulk cycle, you'd look amazing with the extra mass! Very, very nice work! +1
You know, old school bodybuilders, when cutting for a show, used to eat one meal a day for one hour. They just consumed what they could for that one hour. I am not advocating this approach but it appears to have worked well for them.

Damn I'm jealous buddy nice work it really shows. +1 And welcome to lvl 1

aussiedan's picture

Thanks! Means a lot to hear someone say they're jealous! I mean I'm still unhappy with what I've got as I still want to add 20lb on top of this physique. Next year I'm going all out bulk to try and pack on as much muscle as I can hopefully!

Nice bro! +1 Can you hit me up with some infos on that diet? Ty

aussiedan's picture

Kind of hard to give you a "diet" because mine is not a set diet. It changes every single day as I follow IIFYM - "If It Fits Your Macros".. So rest days I get 200g Protein, 50g Fat, 300g Carbs and workout days Protein and fat stay the same but carbs increase to 400g. I track all my food with myfitnesspal and as long as I hit those macros for the day I eat whatever I want. Best part is I'm still eating ice cream before bed every night and still waking up lighter Blum 3

Well done mate - the problem with IF is that people dont give it a chance and they let all the pscho babble about "losing strenght, feel drained etc" come in to play. It takes a good 10 days for the body to get used to the subtrate utilisation change and once the body understands that it will be fasting - it holds on to everything in an optimal way and then replenishes AND gets you bigger when you feed it. I am down to 20 / 4 so fast for 20 and eat my cals in 4 hours. I get bigger, stronger AND lose fat at the same time!

There are a couply of good write ups on Lean Bulking on IF over at rippedbody

I take in 3k in 4 hours with ease...

Nice! Good to see there actually others doing it on this forum. Over at gh15 lottts of guys advocate it. Yeah I've done a couple of days here and there doing 20/4. Did one today actually. Feel A LOT fuller, was kind of hard to get everything down but felt good.
And so true about your body adapting. People think "O no thats bad.. how can you train without any food etc". I train fasted every time and have even increased strength on most exercises.. go figure hey..

agree...its probably one of the most fundamental changes i made and ive been doing it for about 3 years now. The history of this eating habit is passed down from cave man as well tbh. But you can adapt it to the current generation with ease. Sadly many are still stuck in the 5-6 meals a day mentality and think it is the ONLY way......its not.

Yep like me i train totally fasted..in the 18-19th hour of the fast.....and I break my log book each time. No exuses of tired, no food etc etc. Alot of it is in the mind.

Yeah thats what I've been reading more and more. It gets seriously interesting and just makes sense!.
I'll send you a PM got some questions..

It's a guy thing.lol I have a picture of my boy when he was about 4 yo sleeping with his hand down his pants.

aussiedan's picture

Lol my son's just turned 2 and all he seems to do is play with his all day long. Walking around with his hands down his pants haha must have got it from me!

aussiedan's picture

Hahaha lmao what's wrong with a lil bit of play??. Nah I already said that to my mrs when she snapped it. I was moving my hand in different positions and she just happened to snap the pic as it was in front of my dick hahaha. I must just love to touch it ;)

I found and interesting article on IF after seeing your post. Here is a link http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html Your looking nice and lean bud.

aussiedan's picture

Yeah thats the guy I'm following his protocol. I'm still eating the exact same amount of food just within the 8 hour window. I quite like it! And thanks!

scoobydoo's picture

Is it hard to go 16 hours without eating?

aussiedan's picture

Without some sort of appetite suppressant, I can say it's sort of hard. More mental though. However, I must admit I use ephedrine but only 1 20mg tablet a day.. But small amount makes fasting a breeze!. All I do every is wake up around 7-8am have a coffee to the equivalent of 200mg caffeine, 100mg aspirin and take the 20mg ephedrine. That's all I need for the whole day. Then break my fast at 12-2pm and finishing eating around 8pm.

aussiedan's picture

Mind you though, the hunger pangs and lethargic feeling of spacing out my food amongst 6 small meals was WORSE than the fasting.

scoobydoo's picture

I'm going to try it.

DailyStruggle's picture

Nice separation thru your quads mate and pretty well balanced all round +1

aussiedan's picture

Wish I could get the seperation in my back but! I never seem to hold fat in my shoulders, arms or legs and yet it just seems to never budge from my lower back and abs :(

robb's picture

Yeah mate, definitely give the physique show a bash, your in top shape! Youve got time to learn some contest prep to get up on stage and show em what your made of. +1

In a promo × 1
aussiedan's picture

Yeah I've got a couple of guys at my gym that do contest prep but they all do INBA (natural shows) so not really sure how their concepts apply. Would be similar but due to water etc from anabolics I could imagine it would be trickier for us..
