Tuna is great but it contains large amounts of heavy metals incl. mercury so you want to eat in in moderation. Albacore (canned white) contains more mercury than canned light tuna. Chunk light is a smaller tuna so It usually lower in mercury content but the levels are still there.

Here's a link to show pic of the results.

The FDA has/had eating guidelines for fish/shellfish etc.

Here's a link to get the home test:

They also have tests for precisely mercury levels...

They say you are what you eat which would make me a boiled chicken beast. But whatever!!!

yeah i agree. i eat a metric fuckton of tuna, but i made the switch to wild planet tuna about a year ago. This tuna is caught using poll and troll methods, and is not packed in water or oil. its just plain fresh tuna. the mercury levels are also really low compared to other "brand name" tuna on the market. source follows

It's not just tuna that has high mercury levels, so does yellowtail (which is another type of tuna) and shark and swordfish. Basically any fish that is high up on the food chain, because of how mercury gradually compounds and accumulates in in the body.
