+ 1 Making it more difficult to earn karma the higher it gets.
Here's an idea that I came up with that I think would be beneficial to the site overall.
While I do think it is good that people are always trying to get higher karma, I think that it should be harder to reach high karma.
Here's what I mean - I have nothing against people trying to get their karma up to 50 or 100, but HOW they earned it could be any way. If they are one of those people that post a pic daily of their 1000 tiny orders they make that's one way someone can earn karma. Or they could be the type of valuable members that sit in cycle logs and forums and give out quality advice. Usually those people need to spend lots of time typing up paragraphs of helpful information and usually about 1 out of every 10 posts they make might get a plus 1 from someone with above 50 karma.
So those are 2 types of people - one who knows nothing about giving advice but has about 5 orders from every source with one pack of dbol or one bottle of test prop in it.
The other person is the guy who spends hours and hours daily giving quality advice and he just barely has 100 karma.
So what's wrong with this? Well there are tons of people with higher karma that aren't exactly experts or guru's and they could be giving out bad information that people believe because of their high karma.
Solution:
Make it so that after a certain number karma is harder to earn. For example once a member gets 50 karma, make it so that uploading pics no longer gives you a point automatically, only if a member gives a thumbs up to the pics.
Once a member get 50 karma they need 2 thumbs up from a member to gain a point. Once a person gets 250 make it so they need 3 thumbs up to gain a point, once they get 500 karma they need 4, 1000 needs 5 and so on.
Purpose: to increase the value of karma. Because if karma is too easy to get, then people with high karma are not as rare if everyone has a ton of karma. This makes people who have the advanced tag, expert tag or guru tag more valuable, because they worked EVEN HARDER to gain the karma than someone who has 100 or 200 karma for example. My solution also makes it so members with lower karma (<50) can still get karma. It just makes it harder for people who already have lots of karma to earn more.

Cool cool, I apologize for "making another karma post" even though I had no idea. I honestly didn't know people were complaining about karma lately.
The thought was random and I was under the impression that we were allowed to post whatever we wanted in this forum. Kind of shitty for getting so many disagreements just for making the post.
My post kind of goes out to people like rusty, people that give a lot of their time to help others. I don't know how many times I seen rusty respond to posts teaching beginners how to set up cycles or diets. We need more people like that who have the patience to deal with the same problems on a daily basis. People like rusty deserve high karma for making this site a safer place

interesting idea bro (and some of the other ideas mentioned seem good too).. just skimming through all the posts below I'm not going to read it all but apparently there's been a lot of 'karma posts' lately??.. with all that besides the point.. I like your idea, perhaps some tweeks to make with it... and it would definitely require someone with programing skills to modify the code to function like that.. sounds like a time consuming job. props to BFG if he manages to pull it off, he's done an awesome job with the site so far.
I like SRG's idea. Or just karma rationing. Depending on your level you get a certain amount of karma to distribute. The next week,month etc you get to restock. Just a thought.
i like that idea as well. I never said my "idea" was perfect, I just thought that with too much people getting karma from silly stuff like posting a pic of their wife's ass or obsessive amount of pic uploads kind of decreases the value of karma overall.

It's a proposed suggestion. Not everyone is going to agree, but I could really care less what others think lol. I strongly believe high karma is best for people who earned it mostly by giving out solid advie. Not someone who posts pics every day

I get where you're coming from, but there's some responsibility for the individual to do some due diligence on where the advice is coming from. I think we normally do caveat emptor or at least should practice it in other activities and interest, so why not practice it when it comes to AAS. I also agree with the Sgt...we can and should do some self policeing. If you think it looks like shit advice, point it out. It'll come out in the wash.

So Everytime you give somebody a thumbs up, it subtracts, in my case 3 points from my karma type of thing? I'd be all for that. I really do think, we should Do away w/karma completely. & Like I said. Points, tags, etc, voted on by adm, mods, & guru, only... 1 time every month...

Karma is hard to come by maybe not to some but thats what i feel and making it harder will meen low karma guys/newbs will get no where in the karma system apart from the odd guy.i see this all the time theres guys minus 10 karma and rite posts that are due karma and get shit all even when they should be 100 plus for the stuff they rite.
Yea maybe there will be a few guys who get high karma in 3-4 week but am telling you theres hundreds more guys on here who ain't finding it easy to get karma and are realy low you change this and no one will work there way up to 50 let alone 100-200 plus and the tags meen nothing then as you can never get them.

I'm not sure you understand what I meant in the post. My plan was to make it harder for HIGH KARMA MEMBERS to get more karma.
In other words, people below 50 karma can still get karma from pics and whatnot.
I just seen too many people with high karma simply because oh they weighed 300lbs and 50%bf now they weigh 260lbs and 30%bf and they get 30 +1's big woop they went from extreme obese to slightly obese and now they have nearly 30 karma just from one post!
Just saying sometimes it's too easy to get karma. and believe me once your karma gets higher, more people are more likely to give +1 to the high karma member because that's just what tends to happen. Have you ever noticed how someone with 300 karma posts a simple pic of their 5 bottles of test they bought and get 3-5 +1's? Another unknown person (or someone with less karma) can post a pic of 5 bottles of test and noone gives a plus 1.
Just saying once you get to a higher karma it gets easier to come by. So if you have been here for a year, don't stress it man your karma WILL come. But that's what I am trying to explain!! Someone who has been a member for a year or longer and gives out good advice should have higher karma. Not a new person who post a few pics and all the sudden have a ton of karma.
