+ 1 How many fresh fruits/vegetables do you eat daily ?

ad

I was reading that it is advisable to eat at least 5 times a day fresh fruits/vegetables, since they are "live" food for the body. Me and my wifey are improving our diet and try to add them as supplement to each meal. How do you do it, what's your opinion about it ?

I've been making a smoothie every morning to take to work for a mid morning snack. 1 cup Kale greens, 1/2 cup parsley, 1 banana, 1 apple peeled and cored, 2 1/4 cups water. Blend it all up. A few variations I've tried: adding a lime, adding a kiwi, or doubling up on apples and bananas.
I also run a juicer a few times a week.
It's not as bad as it sounds and you won't turn all vegan or into a hippie if you drink it, lol. I still eat plenty of animals.

Vegetables are cake to add to the diet and you can cook them to your liking. Fruit on the other hand is scarce in my diet, which I should probably take care of. Currently have a big tupperware container of greek yogurt and strawberry's that fit into my diet perfectly.

Large 32oz tub, Non-fat Plain Chobani greek yogurt (92g protein - 36g carbs - 560 cals)
2-3 cups of chopped Stawberry's (12g carbs/3g fiber - 1g protein - 50 cals per cup)
Your favorite sweetener - Stevia if your health conscious about sweeteners or sugar if you can afford it in your diet.
Mix!

Split it into 4 serving, let it sit for a couple hours in the fridge, and you have a nice fruit snack that can also fit in for a quick breakfast. (24g protein - 21g carbs/3g fiber - 190 cals)

If you're feeling adventurous try slightly grilling pineapple slices next time you've got the bbq pit out.

Always good to think of a color palette when you shop!

Reds, Yellows, Orange, Purple, ...more color the better!! The more phytonutrients you will get..works great to energize your body and fight off all the free-radicals beating up your body!! lol

I was always a meat & potatoes kinda guy until a couple years ago... I still eat plenty of chicken and fish...less red meat...with plenty of beans/legumes for extra protein. Now I look and feel younger than 5 yrs ago after eating this way!

It's def worth it! would never go back!!!

I don't eat too many fruits right now, cutting. I usually sprikle a handful of raisins on my oatmeal each day and once or twice a week have an apple or banana pwo. If I'm trying to maintain wieght or gain, fruits are another great thing pre work out. They're a simple carb so they'll give you a good spike in energy before you get to the gym.

Veggies are easy, especially if cutting. They are low calories, nutrient dense so i always eat 2-3 big salads a day. I usually but the spinach spring mix and throw in my own brocholi crowns, carrots, chopped red onions and baby tomatoes. Chop up some chicken breast or some sliced turkey and you've got a hefty, healthy salad! just don't go overboard on salad dressing!
