Hopefully you have all watched the movie "Bigger Faster Stronger" by Chris Bell. If not, there is almost always a free version floating around on YouTube and you should watch it - great movie. Mark Bell has his own gym now, and good ole Louie Simmons has been around for decades. USE THEM. These guys know their shit and have helped me big time. Here's a quote from Louie on his squat team: "Our top 5 official squats average 1160 pounds and are constantly going up".

Anyone struggling with injury / pain from lifting and tired of bullshit remedies from well-meaning but often uninformed Doctors, USE this website - Kelly Starrett is a PhD Physical Therapist who works with Team Super Training and his treatments work. They often hurt like hell and are unconventional, but they work. This is a blog, free, with embedded YouTube videos showing the therapy - they can almost all be done at home. Sometimes you have to search around a bit for the particular injury you are dealing with - I used his compression techniques to eliminate most of my knee pain - and for the record I front squat 315 x 20 below parallel, and back-squat (normal squat) 465 x 20 below parallel. I have video proof if needed lol.
On Monday November 5th, world-renowned mobility expert Kelly Starrett will be conducting a half day clinic focused on mobility and optimizing performance for the strength athlete. No powerlifter, olympic lifter, strength athlete or coach should miss out on this special clinic! For more about Kelly check out his website www.MobilityWod.com or go to his website at www.sanfranciscocrossfit.com. More seminar details here (or click the Seminars tab). Sigh, I know - CrossFit - lol. But this guy knows his shit.
Not sure if you guys have experimented with some of the different therapies - MSM is very effective, and is also dirt cheap. You guys will like that race-horse owners / Vets use MSM on their horses because it strengthens connective tissue so well - both tendons and joints. NOW makes the highest quality one I've found yet, and this compound works best when used as a topical - NOW makes a great one that is combined with Glucosamine and Celadrin. I've used this to come back from my last 3 surgeries, and it's a must to stay pain-free in the gym.

Stalion_WThanks for good info
LaTTTimer99This blog is intended as a jump off point for athletes to systematically begin to address their nasty tissues and grody joint mobility. Use at your own risk and stop if you think it's gonna hurt you, your spine is going to come out your throat, or your face goes numb. But, understand that you should be responsible for your own business. Don't wait until you need a new knee. Pony up.

Good stuff. LOL about crossfit, but some of the dudes at my have been pretty cool showed me useful techniques in stretching.
LaTTTimer99I hear you buddy, and I would be skeptical too - until Team Super Training and Jesse Burdick started using Kelly for injury treatment - it's been interesting man, ever since word has gotten out about this guy, Westside Barbell (routinely puts some of the strongest records up - hopefully you know of the gym and how they draw top athletes worldwide who come to them to get stronger) and Team Super Training are now collaborating with him.
The idea that such different methods of training can unite on combining what works best in each discipline and then advocating those methods in their circles (which tend to be pretty inclusive and not open to new ideas) - says alot.
Plus, Mark Bell is fucking hilarious. You gotta watch some of his videos - you heard of big Stan Efferding? World's Strongest Bodybuilder? Guy kills it bro at sub - 6% bodyfat with no belt or kneewraps (lifts "raw") has a 2,303 total. Watch this clip bro:

I guess when it comes down to it, you just have to keep an open mind when it comes to training and use what works for you. Yea...I've heard of Stan Efferding. This dude is pretty awesome. As far as the vid is concerned, I'm always in awe of powerlifters knowing it's not only a tremendous amt of weight, but also they can do something like that without injury. I know when I try to do a deadlift or squat, that's something that's something that's always on the back of my mind when trying to get a PR until it gets started.
angusThere's a lot of good info in there bro, I'm gonna try some of it. I think that as we age and get more prone to injury we need to be a little more aggressive in our rehab, and any new technique might just be the thing that we've all been missing. You don't have to be a powerlifter to find this useful. +1
LaTTTimer99Man, someone like you who will actually go and research these techniques - you'll glean some good stuff from these links. Big time.
