This is what I remember about the Sarge! Always happy to help.
Hello: SGT thanks for your time.
HardBodEricmy knee's are in bad shape, whenever i jog or run my knees actually send me sharp sharp sharp pains, it really sucks and i'm not sure what it's doing down there, do i need surgery or is there anything i can do?
I used to be a great runner and played football, and also Hyperextended my left knee while running with the football, it's fine now, and then i started doing BMX and crashed very much, messed my knees up doing BMX quite a bit. My knees are fine now but it just hurts now, i can do squatting workouts just fine with no pain, But it sucks when i run.
Isn't there a surgery that LOTS of athletes get on the knees? it's common right?
streched my acl and done my cartilage in had surgery 7 week ago to fix cartilage and fix fat pad lol still rehabbing getting better tho legs have the thickness of a chicken leg lol.long story short was training for paras done knee in left it 2 month had sharp, sharp pain like you had could not walk up and down stairs without pain and feeling like it was locking.got back to doing squats and lite exercises running caused me pain and went from running 8 min 1.5 mile runs to taking me 12 plus mins to finish with lots of pain mri showed nothing but acl damage.had surgery turns out cartilage was fucked i allways did think a fucked ligament or cartilage would be super painfull but its not that bad and you could run on it and never know untill you get a year down the line and your knees fucked i think you should hit up a doctor get some scans it can not hurt but if there is a issue you could fuck it rite up if i had the knee fixed sooner cartilage would not have been injured as bad better to be safe than sorry.i also find now that 2000-3000 mg codliver oil helps and 1000 mg of vit c.
sgtstedankoSounds like "jumper's knee (patellar tendinitis) to me, brother. I have it (sharp pain right beneath the kneecap, occasionally & arthritis) if it hurts going up & down steps, I'll bet $ it is. Rest it, & Ice it 20 a couple times everyday, then massage it. Helps me. Make sure to stretch your hammies, & quads. Light weight leg extensions, pool running, followed by swimming, elliptical, lower impact stuff. I don't think there's much you can do but rest & ice. But, I'm no doc. If you've had it more than a few months, I'd get an xray, maybe mri. Remember to shorten your running stride, shuffle from the waist down on ruck runs. Buy a foam firm foam roller, quad & hip flexors rolls, mountain climbers, prisoner squats, & dumbbell lunges. They do sell patellar tendon straps, that helps support the tendon.
HardBodEricThat was Helpful and well thought out and well written advice, I just got back from my RUN, Knees always hurt at the beginning but it starts to feel good about 20 minutes into the run and then it feels good for the rest of the day.
Like sgt stated above doing low impact work will help. I do some triathlons from time to time and I have issue with shoulder that once it warms up it seems fine. Pool running is a fantastic workout ( need for pool often major problem), using roller and stretching good several times a week helps. If your leg is better after you run and does not bother you much the next day or later on except normal post run soreness you can try a couple of things pre run take about 400 mg ibuprofen or alieve about an hour pre run also get a good balm and apply pre-run. I have had good results with bio-freeze. I have not seen in stores but usually a physical therapist office has it to sell. I also would imagine amazon probably would to. Also may want to take something for joints and tendons. Not a doctor but sounds like you have some scar tissue that once it is broken up pain goes away or slight ligament strain. As long as you are no worse after the run it is something you can work through and hopefully doing some pre/post run care will get better
Nice! this will b great!!!
