This is a video of Piers Morgan in a debate with Ben Shapiro. Right off the bat Piers wants to ban assault rifles but not hand guns, even though hand guns kill more people.

I noticed the point about modifications to the AR15 being illegal as well as the fact that we have 12,000,000 illegal immigrants. Note we haven’t been able to stop illegal immigration.
Did you notice that Piers brought out the Sudafed and questioned why he could buy an assault weapon but there are laws in effect that prohibit him from getting all the Sudafed he wants? I can answer that question. It’s because lobbyist were willing to fight for guns but not Sudafed. Not as many people care about a meth lab as they do owning a gun. What’s laughable is that it hasn’t stopped meth!
Why not bring up the ‘Seat Belt Law’. If I get caught without it on, I get a ticket but I can ride a motorcycle wearing shorts, without a helmet. If you were going to be involved in an accident with another automobile, would you rather be in a car with an airbag and no seat belt or on a motorcycle without a helmet?
I wonder how piers would have reacted if Shapiro would have had a pallet of whiskey rolled in and made statistics of how many homicides, manslaughter and traffic fatalities involved alcohol. If you remember we had a prohibition of alcohol and it only caused more corruption. I would like to have asked piers how he thought that worked out.
I think that Piers is more concerned with himself and his ratings.

AnonUnfortunately all this gun debate and legislation is just a distraction from both sides against addressing what the real issue is.
The issue should not be whether someone wants to own a rifle or not, but rather what is leading society to be so violent in the first place. The whole thing is apples to oranges. There may or may not be a need for gun control, but what there undoubtedly is a need for ,is a to examine where our culture is headed , what responsibility parents have and what outside influences are impacting our children.
Typical that a tragedy occurs ,and just like eveything else in life everyone wants to treat the symptom but not examine the cause.

I don't think the comparison of sudafed to assault rifles was an honest comparison. thats when i would have rolled in the truck filled with enough alcohol to have a party after the prom so all the high school kids could have had car wrecks on the way home from the party. How many kids die from alcohol and get it easily?

Seat belts, well they do hurt other people when you dont wear them because it makes all of our insurance rates go up when you get injured . Motorcycles at least here in NY carry no personal injury protection on insurance so in this case we shouldnt have a hemet law but we do.

As far as Pierce Morgan is concerned, well he is conducting a discussion or interview just like any other tv show host. Its meerly a venue and he has no more or less right to have a discussion because hes Brittish.

I think if I was going to assault someone Id use a bat or my fists, so really to compare violent crime is very missleading. What should be compared is murder rate and gun crime rate only.
Piers Morgan should not even have a word in this discussion. All he does is say how great things are in England without guns. I think they are still pissed that we whipped their asses in the revolution.

There's so much I have to say on these issues, I'm at work and don't feel like going into it all, but I must say I completely agree with everything you said Destructos. Great points you brought up especially about the seatbelt shit... To me I always figured that was a way to generate more tickets and money for counties and states but who knows. They say its a "moral" law but it should be up to that individual, if I'm not wearing seatbelt that doesn't put anyone else in danger except for me

CleyonHe acts like an AR can be turned into a select fire rifle with barely any effort (which is NOT true), forget the fact that you would need very specific information, and a machine shop to do it.
I love that Shapiro makes the point over and over again that "The Second Amendment is not there so that people can hunt." It is there specifically to allow us to protect ourselves from the eventuality of the Government turning on the people. Let me be very blunt in saying that I do NOT believe that is currently happening, but I DO believe it's closer than it every has been.
Those are excellent comparisons, and viewpoints. I completely agree that guns should be legal to an extent, but should also be more regulated in ways that I'm sure the state governments could come up with. A person who owns a gun for safety, maybe two, is far different from a person who has 15-25 guns. What can a person do with 15-25 guns that relates to safety?
Regardless... It can happen that guns get outlawed, and I've heard many radio stations talk about it in the past week. Many people say they wouldn't be able to get all the guns, but then they also argued ways that are a sure-fire way to get all REGISTERED guns.
That is my opinion; Guns should not be outlawed, but should be regulated more than they currently are.
CleyonWhich way would you regulate firearms more than they currently are? We already can't have select-fire weapons built after 1989, and in order to get any NFA item we have to pay a $200 "Tax" to the governement, and wait months for them to do a background check.
As to an "Assault Rifle Ban" Which of these two would you ban and why?
We can't own machine guns made after April or May of 1986.All the laws and regulations in the world are not going to stop crazy people from doing crazy shit.
Neither, aside from appearance they are equally safe/dangerous, and shoot the same .223 round. The bottom one freaks out people that dont know shit about guns more though:-)
