Vegetarianism is a very interesting concept. I am still not sold though, I think we are omnivores. That and I just love steak too much to ever give it up.
Still though this movie was interesting and brings up some valid points. It creates a good dialogue.

Broc0sFor sure our food had a great influence over our health. Lost of diseases are caused by bad eating habits.
Vegetables are wonderful no doubt, and they could provide you with everything you need to survive and thrive, providing you could eat enough of it. Meat is not our enemy though, the reason we are taught to believe it is because of the overwhelming amount of modern diseases we are getting from the foods we're eating. The food we are eating causes so many diseases not because its meat, but because its processed in more ways in we could imagine. Our conventional steaks are processed due to the fact its not fed its natural diet of grass rich in vitamins and minerals; but instead fed genetically modified corn sprayed with pesticides which could completely compromise the health of the animals all on its own. But they don't stop there, the cattle are fed a daily course of antibiotics which wrecks havoc on their beneficial microflora, injected with vaccines with preservatives like mercury and aluminium that supposedly helps their immunity(some are also fat soluble meaning it'll stay in the fat cells even after death).
If we ate foods that our ancestors ate, which would vary depending on region, we would be completely healthy and strong. Our dental arches would be wide and our teeth straight, our nose bridges would also be wide as well as the spaces between our eyes. The food of indigenous tribes were the best. Weston A. Price has a wonderful book "Nutritional and Physical Degeneration" and is a must read for those interested in nutrition. To summarize some of the points he observed, even with a diet of high in fat and nearly no vegetables, the eskimos were completely healthy in their environment. The Swiss indigenous tribes ate mostly diary, meat, cheese with hardly any vegetables. Again... perfect health, no modern diseases like heart disease, or cancer. Why? because they ate not only animal flesh, but the organs. Animal entrails are the most concentrated source of fat soluble vitamins.
Dr. Price found NO vegetarian or vegan tribes whatsoever. It's not to say that vegetarianism is wrong, it's just being an omnivore is what we are bred to be, humans have been eating meat for thousands of years, our bodies just aren't used to consuming the literally poisoned animals.
ps- The RDA requirements for vitamins and minerals are complete BS. Any questions?
I'm studying nutritional medicine and generally advocate a plant based diet. but never a plant ONLY diet. But then again... if you can't access good meat, you shouldn't eat a lot of it. But if you DO have access to good meat, feel free the splurge not only on the flesh but mainly the organ meats, you'll get a supercharged nutritious diet =]
AnonThanks for the insight. This is a great reply and exactly what I was looking for when I posted this.

Vegetarians ..are the Taliban of the Kitchen....
I could get by on meat,milk,veggies and i would be fine..( 70/15/15 % )
LOL, great quote:):) - Vegetarians ..are the Taliban of the Kitchen....
Anonthey do get a little self righteous, dont they.
vegitarian?.. I didn't know there was another name for p*$sy
Vegetarianism destroys everything "balanced". It's a one sided all or nothing concept that only people with a predisposition to eating extremely low protein can tolerate let alone prosper. Just the lack of enzymes that meat provide in a diet is enough reason to eat at least some meat.
Show me 100 Vegetarians and I'll show you 99 of them are puny, frail and look on their death bed. If you want to argue this, you simply haven't seen anyone on a long term Veg Diet. My sister was told by her Doctor: eat some meat or you are going die.
Yes she made cancer patients looked jacked (idiot).

Gorilla's are vegeaterian's and they don't look frail or puny to me. Still, I prefer chicken and fish over meat. It takes to long to digest meat.
AnonWell show me 100 Americans, and 99 of them are fat out of shape and couldnt run a mile without clasping at their chest as it nearly explodes.
I'll agree the people shopping at health food stores are the sicklyest bunch you'll ever see.
And I have already proclaimed my thoughts on meat, however if you actually took the time to watch the movie and put your pre concieved notions aside, you might find like everything else in life there is some truth and validity to it.

Anonpretty bad ass ! That is some sick strength , deffinitely not your typical idea of a vegan
56tooI think Netflix has this documentary and although I find it very interesting I too will probably never be sold on it. Meat has too many nutrients you really cant get with just plants
AnonI often feel weak if I have not had enough meat in my food intake. Also I dont find steak heavy at all if its eaten with the right foods.
56tooI tried quiting meat for a while cause I dont like the way they treat animals, yes even if they're gonna die, I dont like it at all, but after Ive gone a while without it I start to forget the cruelty LOL
AnonAgreed, we need to have a more respectful attitude towards the creatures that keep us fed.
56tooYeah, thats a nice way to put it lol
