Tricking the Stomach
Two ways to make your stomach feel full:
1) Sparkling Water
2) Fiber Water
Sparkling Water
According to former professional cyclist Tyler Hamilton, drinking sparking water is a trick that cyclists have used for decades to feel full. A glass of sparkling water with a meal does wonders. This low (or zero) calorie option has the double effect of replacing a high calorie drink.
Fiber Water
AKA "Metamucil" I've had some personal success a big glass drinking of metamucil 90 minutes after dinner. I do this in place of a late night snack. Not only does fiber make the stomach feel full, it keeps one regular, balances the blood sugar, etc. (he caveat here is that since metamucil type drinks are so good at bringing BMs and eliminating waste, often the intestines do not have time to fully absorb nutrients. The simple solution is a daily multi-vitamin.)

Thanks for the info. I will be trying the seltzer water
Bok Choy, that stuff isnt too bad and it has almost no calories, eating 40 calories of it is an unholy chore.
Also relatively high in calcium and fiber.
Great for stir fries as well.
Yes, that's another good one.
I like to drink a zero sugar low(zero) cal energy drink for the feeling of fulness if I'm trying to cut food intake for this reason.
What else is in your energy drink?
Some sugar substitutes have an interesting impact on insulin and glucose levels.
pretty sure the one your thinking of is maltodextrin which is higher in the GI than sugar, I drink the zero carb rockstars which to my knowledge dont have malto in them.
Anonproteins and fats have a funny way of doing this as well
Sparkling water: zero calories
Metamucil: 20 calories
Can a 20 calorie serving of proteins and fats make the stomach feel full?
Anoni think the approach you're suggesting would be in line with a weight loss goal using an induced feeling of satiety. although it can be very effective, and i have used that technique many times early in my bout to lose weight, i take a different approach these days.
i don't wanna accidentally jack your post, so i won't get into the details but studies have proven that spreading the meals out into more frequent meals yeilds a greater thermogenic affect and greater potential for assimilation and energy metabolism, rather than storage of body fat.
if you wanna get your karma up, let ppl know that the source comes thru by posting some pics of the gear you get when your packs come in.
Thanks for the tip. I'll post some pictures soon.
I agree with what you said about spreading the meals. But for many--myself included--the main problem is putting down the fork. My problem was late night snacking until I incorporated the post dinner metamucil.
Regarding satiety, there are other tricks like eating slowly.
But from my hazy recollection, there are three main bodily mechanisms that signal to the brain that we do not need more food: The first is a full stomach. Next is balanced glucose levels in the blood. The final mechanism has to do with intestinal absorption, and those details are where my memory fails.
My "tricks" would work on that first mechanism, fullness in the stomach (and the secondary benefit that fiber has on balancing blood levels). Your mention of proteins and fats would work on the second, balanced blood levels.
Of course you are correct in your approach. And a balanced, healthy diet is ideal. But my "tricks" are to help people lose weight by putting down the fork.
AnonGood job
Thanks again for the advice. I've gone ahead with some gear pics.
I don't know about 20 calories of proteins/fats but check out the caloric/nutritional value of 1 cup raw broccoli is. That's why I use this stuff daily. Good post btw.

Nice web site! +1
I eat most my veggies raw and that's the site I use when figuring out my portion sizes. Best thing about raw broccoli, 30 kcals/ 1 cup, two cups and you'll have trouble remembering what being hungry was like. hahaha.
Yes, I completely agree.
Thank you.
I have been relatively quiet on these boards but posted that about tricking the stomach with the hope of gaining some karma so I can review a source. I'm pretty new to eroids and not sure how everything works here.
and raw veggies i.e broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, kale.
