+ 3 Hardgainer? Or just Misinformed?
Couple days back had a discussion with a guy that imo should not be doing steroids yet. Tall and skinny declaring hes a hardgainer and this was his only option. Got into the discussion and it came down to calories. His argument is he cant ever get above 5000 and I just dont know what its like because Im already thick as hell. Hmmm? So lets look at reality first and how to repair it after. Reality is that in my best condition I was 205 and 8% bf...just in March this year. BUT...I started lifting my ass off the "old school" way 27 years ago. Old school...all iron and sweat. Yes, I too was a hardgainer. How many reading this right now remember their first cycle and it blasted them over 200 the first time? Point made. So now the cure for hardgainers is now and alwasy has been food. Boring old food. If you dont have your food and body figured out the fact is that you will LOSE all your gains regardless of the gym. When I was younger I studied old principles of Parillo and Poloquin(google em). Best power trainers there is imo. I jusmped to 8000 calories per day. So now back to the example of the 5000 calorie guy the other day. He eats everything but cant get over that 5000 mark. Go to the local health store and get the 1200 calorie carb/protein drinks. Read the label and know your carbs!! Getting most of the carbs from medium and long chain sugars is key. Now, add that to the principle that was noted as "Eat like a king, a prince, and a pauper". Morning meal should be your big boy bfast of your eggs, oats etc PLUS your 1200 cal drink. Same with noon meal of chicken, yams or brown rice. Right there is 2400 extra calories!! Now Mr 5000 just quickly got to 7400. The principle of king prince pauper fits in like this; Morning you eat BIG like a king. mid morning you have your chicken and red potatoes. Lunch is your Prince meal. Leaner in the fats with chicken breast and brown rice plus your calorie drink. Midday is lean chicken or fish snack with a fruit. Dinner is your pauper meal. LEAN and NO CARBS. That way your going into the gym carb loaded yet will burn the excess and stay somewhat lean easily. Working out NATTY..No roids...modified meal for two months and you should see both mass and weight gain. If not then midday snack time you add in that third calorie shake for another 1200 cals. You're a hardgainer, so typically if your exercise stays hardcore you shouldn't see much fat added. If you get the pinch an inch then keep calories at that current level and add in 20 mins bike or treadmill after workout. Not enough to steal calories from your weight/mass/muscles but just enough to keep the gains real. Lifting hard with compound movements is the best way to pump on the MASS your wanting. Think about how thick powerlifters get. Solid and dense muscle only comes from those hard solid lifts. Marius P worlds strongest man is the best visual for a solid powerlifter imo. To end, this world of bodybuilding is a lifetime goal. Not just short term. Learning your body and your bodies action leads everything you do and builds who you are. Don't lose those goals simply because of food. Thank You!

There's a real misconception out there that cardio is only used for losing weight. My best advice for a hard gainer is eat more and do cardio three times a week it will help absorb all the extra food!
RustyhookerBoom
I skipped the clean part of my bulk diet before and think I was getting too much sodium because my legs ankles and feet swelled up. (water retention).
Cluck on my name....check my forums. Salt is easy to get bloated on. During cycles it can be harmful or cause death.
one thing I learned on my first cycle: it's seriously hard work to eat that much clean. Sure if I was eating dirty I could eat a lot more cals. but eating clean and eating like 5k+ is like woah. granted, I'm on vacation now so all I do pretty much is eat so its easy. going back to work monday it's gonna be a little bit more of a challenge
Work is a lil tougher! Tupperware your blends and shaker it up. I get to work with 3-5 tupperwares with snacks, whey, and meals. My metabolism has slowed with age but we all know that hungry muscles catabolize. Many meals even out your plasma levels in nutrients
AnonYou are so true, but this guy might have some type of deficiency that he doesnt know about and needs AAS to keep him looking normal or could just not eat enough. My brother-in-law has Crohns disease, so his caloric intake can only be so much without getting sick. His genetic metabolism is so fast that he burns off everything he eats almost as soon as he eats it. His only option is AAS, and when on cycle he never has a Crohns outbreak, which I find is weird. He looks and acts healthy when on cycle, but the disease fucks him when he comes off.
AnonBy the way Fast, I see you brought this post back.. Ill help ya!
Found this post on a link located on the other post you recently auhtored regarding diet. Great info Bro! After getting the right gear figured out - poking darts in the ass is the easy part. Enjoyable too if you ask me. Diet is somewhat complicated for sure. Appreciate the knowledge and the road map fast48. Cheers, '48'
From one 48 to another...high five! We already know that if food is correct we easily grow even on underdosed gear as well as while natty. Dialing in foods in a way that you respond to is a big chore of learning.
good info brother, I can attest to how hard it is to gain weight but it can be done. just takes dedication and the "want to"
Agree!! I was the hardgainer til i figured out how to add big calories. Now that I'm older i have to work more cardio but that'd the joy of this. Its for life.....
Love this. In the end this is a lifetime commitment. It's your permanent way of diet and eating. IF everyone could gain muscle from working out twice a week and eating jelly donuts and double whoppers the world as we know it would look different. If your diet is not on point regardless of body type no matter what you inject into yourself you will not see results. and if you get lucky and do see results you won't keep them.
Exactly! Then frustration sets in an the "lifestyle" is crushed.
I just shake my head when I run into these guys. "I'm trying to bulk, but I just can't gain weight..." blah, blah, blah. I started lifting seven years ago at 165-170 LB and got to 250 completely natty, granted I wasn't 8% bf, but I was damn far from being a fatty also. Eat!!!
It takes that powerliftet bulk to build raw muscle thickness. Big food and big volume movements.
I agree with you man, except lets be real here, food is not fucking BORING, especially when your bulking I love food, who the hell doesnt?
I stand corrected. Boring is as good or bad as the person cooking/prep. Taking extra time in food creativity surely will help. Main idea i hope to spread is in the replues below. The young hardgainer can easily get to 8000 cals if needed and with easy good foods or additives(oil, pb,, etc)
I wish I could find protein drinks that high in calories I usually take 2 scoops of whey 1 whole banana 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and a tablespoon of EVOO fir my protien shake.
Get the brand serious mass weight gainer it comes in 12 pound bags and that shit does work and blends supper smooth.
If your local store doesnt have it...check online for Mass Gainer. But like you noted the peanut butter/banana adds. Yams, brown rice etc. GS posted a tasty morning get up...Oatmeal, yogurt, 2 scoops whey, milk in blender. So tasty! On on the equipoise...it curbs the hunger nicely
PB banana and honey sandwiches are a staple when I BULK : )
On that multigrain bread? Big, thick n tasty!
i myself have been using gs's homemade shakes.they taste good, they work and it doesnt mess with my guts.and its far cheaper then buying weight gainer,i add waxy maize to my post workout shake.its cheap and its great carb's.
Being creative like that is tons easier/cost effective! Closer to the way the old football teams used to Pop in quick meals. Cant argue with decades of proof
eat breakfast lunch, deserts and dinner at McDonalds and i promise you will get more than 5000 calories
Supersize me brother!
All kinds of tricks to up the cals once you dial in you start getting creative
I add 2tblspns of olive oil to all of shakes, thats a quick and easy extra 200cals a pop!
thats what i use to best way to turn a 450cal meal into 650cal.w/o any more food,i am a true hard gainer.im fuckin almost forty and my doc. says metabolism is of a 20y/o.i fing that eating a 1/2 cup of peanuts or almonds between meals is a great way to bump up your cal intake.
Nice! All the lil tricks to boost the calories.
And I forgot not only the olive oil but tablespoon natty peanutbutter as well. All the lil tricks that definitly allow the natty builder to get the solid base First and have the ammo to keep those hard gains.
i add in avocados as well, 250 cal a pop. iv been crushing the natty peanutbutter too! i cant stay away from it. add whole milk to shakes. ive never had a problem with getting down food but gain fat easy
Different body type...so your goal it building up and how to trick body into your goals. Im older not so for me....o gotta hit bike/stairs :(. But still can eat big with carb manipulating.
nice post, but Eating that much comes down to time in my opinion, when you wake up at 7:00am eat your big breakfast then you get a 30 minute lunch at work then get home at 5:30 and can have 3 more small meals before 10:00 pm when i start settling down for bed, I get the job done but its still some what difficult in this day and age lol.
Its definitly time consuming. One more reason I reinforce using chicken tenderlings. No fat, very bland, and good slow burning protein. Chicken stays good for hours at room temp as well. Im always on the go so in my big jug I mix my protein with coffee. Constant supply of proteins and at break I can easily goble 3 chicken tenderlings and handfull of brown rice. Its the prep work that takes the extra time. But there is always a way around everything. Cook pounds of chickens and freeze or seal lock for the week. Powders are easily mixed. Basically, if you want it bad enough...theres always a way.
im actually doing what you recomend now with the chicken, works great all i eat is chicken these days im eating chicken in a wrap and rice as we speak .
Mexican style....add low sodium green salsa and lettuce etc. Sure adds variety/flavor!
