Your thoughts on shocking methods/super sets...

ad

Afternoon all. Well, today I offically started my bulk (no gear til mid-Sept). Anyways, on my last bulk, I did A LOT of supersets/shocking methods, as well during my cut. More so during my cut, mainly supersets.

For my current bulk, I'm thinking of focusing on the standard 6-8reps, 4 sets per exercise, with heavy emphasis on compound lifts.

Just wondering what your guys/gals thoughts are on supersets and shocking methods.

Back to Basics is good! Be careful with too much of the advanced methods, Supersets, Statics, Giant Sets, Drop Sets..... Used sparingly will yield great results. Overused will lead to exhaustion (Physical and Central Nervous System) and overtraining! Switch it up every 4-6 weeks for the shock you need. Good luck!

They work great! Every six Weeks switch it up.

That's what I do...about every 4-6 weeks. Sometimes three if I just don't feel the routine is worth it, and back to the drawing board!!

Throwing in a good "funday" of anything at a whim is good too. Have to switch for monotony and growth. Lol

HAHA...yeah, sometimes I will throw a lil' something extra into the mix on occasion just for kicks. Like maybe bang out 7 sets of tricep pushdowns w/ minimal rest, about 30 sec. I guess that's along the lines of the FST-7 approach. Other times I will drop some plates and just bang out SUPER high reps for a burnout. FUNDAYS!!! lol

The 5 and 5 program is pretty damn good...look at the before and after pics of Thor "Chris Hensworth" http://stronglifts.com/strength-training-lessons-from-thor-chris-hemsworth/

Those before and after pics are 7 years apart. My son got better results than that between 8 and 15 years old and didn't do anything! LOL ;-P
But yes a 5x5 is good for new growth if you can handle the weight!
