I always have a hard time telling if somethings in there when I do. I have to do it in front of the bathroom mirror and hike my leg up on something
They say, "60% of the time it works every time!"
But yes even in the glutes it best to aspirate. If too big get your girl to do it for you. As for me i can only reach my right glute and aspirate the left I have to have help.
Check out this video...its pretty much how I do it.

For me its a bit easier to do with one hand with the short 1" needles. If you have long fingers/large hand even better. I've always aspirated, done 8 cycles and only once when pinning my azz did I draw blood with a 1.5 needle. Having never drew blood it kinda gave a nice heart palpitation/skip for a sec. I place my index/middle/thumb on the flat parts of the syring, pulling my fingers up to my palm.... use those 3 fingers to then "push off" the flange with a kung fu grip on the stem. I only pull back about an 1/8".
Some people might disagree with me but you don't need to aspirate in the glutes. My buddy is a nurse practitioner and has said that it is an out dated technique and actually does more damage to the muscle.
He even told me that its not necessary to do in in the quads, but I still do there just to be safe.
Are you kidding? I only inject my quads and on a good day, at least once I pierce a vein. How can you be sure your pin doesn't sit on a vein and you inject your oils into it? Scary stuff.
so what if you were to have a sterile absences without a knot in your glute and without aspirating you just re-inject to the abscess? now if you woulda aspirated you would have know about the abscess due to the yellow fluids you got in your syringe post aspiration. i say aspirate every time. its better to be safe....blah blah blah you catch my drift .
I've done it a few times this week, not as easy as I remember it. I think the needle moves around in the muscle a bit much for my preference. Even deltoid with one hand and I have a little pip remaining from Sunday. Today I got over my fear of quads, it's like having two hands!
Yeah need to get ready for quads too running short esthers. Let me know how the pip is in your quad and what compound.
24 hours later, nothing, zero pip. If I mash on the injection site with my thumb I can notice it. It was only .4 of prop, using 23g until 25g arrive. From the source that is really busy. I've found 0.5 ED to be a bit strong and is not going with my goals. Adding primo today, so that would be 2ml total. If I remember to check back tomorrow I'll let you know if it is still zero, kind of doubting I'll be so lucky. Might go with the hip.
I'm not going to have to wait 24 hours till I can tell you there is going to be some pip, the primo was 200mg / ml. Did a 45 second count during the injection. Was fine for a couple hours, starting to notice a little sting.
not so bad, was expecting more
nothing as boring as a play by play on the pip, but after working on legs today - I won't be pinning that again in the quads. Maybe for small amounts of prop... Call me a wuss.
I pinned my glutes recently and it's not as awkward as you think but one hand is something to get use to lol.
Put your pointer and middle on te syringe and use your thumb and ring finger to pull back
I have done three cycles and have never aspirated, after being around here where it seems everyone does it got me a little worried I hadn't been.
What do you guys think of this : ??
In 15 years and many cycles I've never aspirated once and never hit a vein or had discomfort associated with pinning. Once I hit a nerve in my right delt and the muscle twitched/gyrated but that was all. If you want to aspirate, go right ahead. I won't say "Don't aspirate." I'm only giving my own personal experience that has included probably a thousand + injects and zero aspirations. Army pinned us in the delts and glutes and no aspiration took place. I have had two (2) long time family physicians (General Practitioners) - one says to aspirate and the other says it's not necessary. Go figure.
