Pan seared ahi tuna steaks in an amazing spicy sweet citrus sauce!

ad
  • 2 big handfuls of fresh cilantro leave finely chopped
  • 1 large jalapeno sliced (add more or less depending on personal preference)
  • 1 rounded teaspoon grated fresh ginger (try to get organic)
  • 2 garlic cloves grated (try to get organic)
  • 2-3 limes juiced
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • pinch or organic cane sugar
  • 1/4 cup organic extra virgin olive oil
  • sea salt/ fresh ground pepper (for tuna steaks)
  • sushi quality tuna steaks
  • 1 ripe avocado, pitted and thinly sliced

*Feel free to sear tuna in a cheaper oil if you want but use organic in the dressing

In a mixing bowl combine: cilantro, jalapenos, ginger, garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, sugar and 3 table spoons of the olive oil. Mix until blended thoroughly. Season the tuna sides with sea salt and pepper to taste or have it plain. Place remaining oil in a skillet on medium-high heat and cook tuna for 1-2 min per side letting each side get a crusty look (time will depend on thickness of tuna steak). place avocado slices neatly on the bottom of the plate and then put the seared tuna steaks on top of them. Finally generously apply the sauce over the tuna steaks, serve with some steamed organic brown rice/sweet potatoes and a veggie of your choice and you have a super flavorful and healthy meal that everyone will enjoy. You can also use the sauce as a salad dressing. Be creative the stuff is amazing and is loaded with super foods. Try to get as much organic as you can and buy the tuna fresh.

Whats the macros?

Dr.Kivorkean's picture

Not really sure on the specific macros though its probably only a few hundred calories depending on how much you use per serving. There are some fats from the avocados and evoo but all healthy. Again really depends on how much you use and what you serve it with.

  • 1 avocado = 240 cal / 184 fat cal, 13g carbs, 10g fiber, 3g protein
  • extra virgin olive oil = 80 cal / 80 fat cal
  • 8oz tuna = 246 cal / 10 fat cal, 55.2g protein, Cholesterol 88mg
