Thanks bro I've been a member for awhile just never really had to talk to anyone I just read the forums..i just did that just wasn't sure sure if that's was the proper procedure..good look!
You're more than welcome, Mate.
Glad to be of help
it is done
So what's everyone's take on lifting when juicing light and for lots of reps or heavy for decent reps rich piana was talking about growing more on light weight for like 50 reps if your juicing and heavy low reps if natty I switch it up go light one week heavy the next personally
IN MY OPINION:
If you want to be a marathon runner, doing sprint training isn't going to do anything for you. If you want to be a pole vaulter, high jump training is only going to help you with your landings. If you want to build up your strength, sticking with the 5lb, 'Lady Weights', every workout isn't going to cut it for you either.
It all depends on what you would call yourself and what it is you want to achieve. Are you a Bodybuilder? Powerlifter? Crossfitter? Fitness Freak?
(Personally, I'd put myself in the category of Bodybuilder).
My workouts would consist of 60% my max weight for any particular exercise. I'd aim for between 10 - 12 reps, MAXIMUM of 15, depending on the exercise I am doing. IF I can do more than 15 reps per set, then I either need to up my poundages, or I'm not concentrating on doing the exercise correctly and I'm not squeezing/tensing the muscle I'm working on fully at the peak point of the exercise. I'll simply discard that particular workout set, (As a form of self punishment for being lazy), and do it again after a 30 second rest. Likewise, if I can't HONESTLY achieve 10 - 12 reps, MAYBE my poundages are too heavy, and I'll simply drop the weight a little to achieve my QUALITY sets.
You'll see many individuals at the gym, picking up the heavier weights and dumbbells, throwing the things around with absolutely no pausing in between each rep. What's the point? IT'S JUST AN EGO TRIP. All they're doing is moving the damn things and doing it all in a momentum swing. Granted, they MAY be able curl 45-55lb dumbbells in a piston like motion. But ask them to slow down, do a simple 12 Rep Set, with a basic 1 second count, stopping at the top AND at the bottom of the curl to tense/squeeze/contract the muscle, and they've got no chance.
They're just USING their own body momentum to move a weight and NOT working out the muscle.
Also, if I don't feel a full muscle ache within the entire muscle group that I've worked out on within 48 hours, then I feel that I've again cheated myself by not doing the exercise/s correctly and/or done enough to work that particular muscle group enough. I.E: If I've worked out my chest on a Sunday, I DON'T want to just have an ache in my upper pec on Tuesday. I want to be able feel aching across my entire pec area.
When I first started taking the Iron Lady serious, during a workout session I was struggling to complete, I was once told by Mr Paul Grant, Ex Mr Universe Champion, that if you're aching the day after you've worked out, you'll feel like you're dying 48 hours after, you'll be back to aching the next day, like the 2 days before and THEN you'll know you've worked the muscle group and NOT injured it.
I've maintained and kept that juicy piece of advice throughout my workout career.
This is just MY opinion of course.
Good advise brother that was something I could really take in thanks.
You're welcome, Mate
That was some really good advice. I incorprate about 90 percent of what Mate said into my own workouts. But keep in mind everybody is different. Things that work for one person don't always work for everybody else. For instance, I lift as heavy as I can for sets of about 6-8, taking 3-minute breaks in between. And I pound out way more sets than most people would do in a workout. If I did strictly lighter weight at high reps, I wouldn't grow at all. I know because I spent about 5 years trying that method with almost zero results. I mean, I was toned up and you could see striations everywhere, but I wasn't getting any bigger.
Also, I rep 75-pound dumbbells, and I don't swing or use my body momentum. My elbows stay stationary and I pause at the top and bottom. Some people just lift heavier. You need to find what works for you.
I agree with you, Mate.
As in anything within our game, finding what works for you, AS AN INDIVIDUAL, is the key.
As with our dosages and compounds, taking a particular dose that works for one person isn't necessarily going to work for another. (One reason why I NEVER give dosage/s advise). One particular gear compound MAY work wonders for someone, but could easily kill another. (I personally can no longer take EQ. One of my past favorites).
Within our own workouts, an area of poundages that works for me, won't work for another. (Another reason why I won't give poundage/s advise too). IF I was asked to recommend a workout routine, that's simple enough to do. BUT, IF I gave the same advice and I recommended a poundage that I used, but the individual taking the advise can/t use said poundage/s, or uses more weight than me, then I'm opening myself up to attack from two angles. "Your recommended workout routines are $hit and they don't work". Reason #1: "I can't lift the weights you're recommending". Reason #2: "I lift heavier weights than you recommended so I had to change it". (Therefore not taking my recommendations).
Our dietary needs also, advising someone to consume 7000+ calories a day and telling them, "This is what I do and I put on some awesome weight", isn't going to work for everyone too. (For obvious reasons). When I see a recipe posted up, I'll look at it, and I'll give credit if it looks like it's something I COULD be interested in. But if it contains Greens and Vegetables, it won't EVER hit a serving plate of mine. (I just don't eat/like vegetables).
MY OWN RULE OF THUMB: Take advise. Discover yourself.
The very best in this game discovered early on that it's down to the individual. You MUST find YOUR own Dosages, Poundage's AND Dietary needs to grow and advance to YOUR maximum potential.
Absolutely true.
Every time somebody asks about my diet, I tell them that I am a freak and that they should NOT do what I do. I'm that guy who eats 7,000 or more calories per day and doesnt gain any fat. That, obviously, isn't going to work for most people.
But listening to people who try different things with varying degrees of success is very helpful, I believe. You can try this, try that and then stick with what works for you.
Good read bro your absolutely right I only take 30 second rest sometimes 60 but I have always gone heavy I'm more into body building but I wanna cross to powerlifter also so I'm not only building muscle but strength also kinda like Arnold he started out as a power lifter so when he transitioned to body builder he wAs able to rip it up but also no matter how hard I work out and squeeze my body never hurts it only does if I stop working out for a while it pisses me off in growing like a animal but the only pain I feel is the crazy burn when I'm pumping I have tried lifting heavier lighter more reps less rest everything nothing makes me sore I started busting out crazy workouts in 45 mins to see of that made me sore nothing and I squeeze I don't swing my body when doing lat pull downs like half he guys I see our they swing there whole body to do a bicep curl I keep my elbows in place and I use my bicep and squeeze like you said still no pain it's weird my body just adjust so rapidly
MAYBE it's time for you to STOP your old routine, go back to the books to find some new exercises, put a new routine together, MAYBE with an advanced technique thrown in at the END of your workout and bust that final exercise out for your particular body part that you're working out.
Sort of, vamping things up another mode.
There are so many different techniques that have evolved since Arnold's days, that makes me sometimes wonder, IF he knew about them in his day, what would he have looked like if he'd used them.
Like for instance, Tricep Ladders, or Bicep Ladders, or Hail Mary Chest Benches, or Pyramid Pull Backs, or even the Five Hunnit' exercises that are being incorporated into regular routines.
Just an idea for you to think about, Mate.
It's all synonymous in reality...powerlifters do bodybuilding stuff too...and vice versa. You could even go so far as saying something like "cross-building"...which is like a workout I did last night. 100 pull-ups and 100 push presses followed it with lateral isolation work and a bicep exercise. But now Sunday is more of my power chest and back day
Yea man lately I been doing back chest and legs twice a week once heavy until I hit 1rm and once light for set of 20-25 reps very minimal rest and lately I been feeling more from the light weight it's weird maybe it's cause I'm not use too it but I do bis and tris once a week and same with delts I do abs every other workout
time and place for both brother, it's my experience like DBG said as well to mix things up. I'll work both ways in on a given training day and work in cycles as well, like go real heavy for 4 to 6 weeks then deload by lifting moderate-heavy with higher reps for 2-3 weeks. in so doing I believe your giving your joints and connective tissue a break and also confusing the muscle to illicit, stimulate growth. my first couple of years training I just stuck with heavy training and eventually I hit a wall, one I started pumping and flushing the muscle with blood by working in the higher rep range my growth took off. remember to slow it up and get a full stretch and contraction and SQUEEZE the hell out of the muscle. happy gains bro!
Yea I have been realizing that for he last five years I always tried to go heavy I actually took two years off so 3 consecutive years training but this last week going light has been kicking my ass the high rep range I feel like my muscles are gonna explode off my body they get so pumped like I was doing lat pull downs for 30 reps at a moderate weight
Jbrit121250% max high reps. When I go to heavy I start fucking up my joints
50% sounds good I'll try that out
I never really do the same workout twice, I have a framework to what would be called a "routine" but my weight poundage and rep scheme change every week.
Same I'll go heavy one week light the next but rich piana is a fucking monster so I have been lifting light for crazy reps and it burns like a bastard I feel like I been getting more out of it the last week instead of working up till my 1rm
Jbrit1212All hail the queen. Sup my lady?
My next cycle is going to be a bulking cycle. I'm looking to run Test and Decca with NPP as a kick start. Any suggestions on dosages? I've never ran Decca before.
I have more experience with testosterone and nandrolone than any other compounds. I've probably run 6 or 7 cycles with that stack, trying different things each time.
I would suggest keeping your test high to avoid problems with the libido. I typically run my test at about twice the weekly dosage as my nandrolone. Good gains that way, and you don't get deca dick.
And I kick start NPP for about four weeks, and I use it to taper down during the last four weeks of the cycle. Deca takes a long time to fully kick in, and then it takes a long time for it to get out of your system.
excellent advice OS... because of the water weight I carry on deca I only run it during the summer when it doesn't matter if I cant get my shoes on..
I also noticed that with deca i have issues with excess prolactin and it kills my libido .. and lasts a long time after I ve dropped it. I have some of the same issues with NPP but it doesn't seem to kill my libido like deca does
this summer I skipped the deca and am running npp/prop ... mad strength gains this cycle although my bench has peaked everything else is still going up. I hit the stack for ten reps at 255 on lat pull downs .. it was crazy .. I ve never done that before ;-)
“I hit the stack for ten reps at 255 on lat pull downs .. it was crazy .. I ve never done that before ;-)” So you may be the Queen but clearly you are also a Goddess - that's a most impressive lift. Thank you for the inspiration.
I want you on my team in a bar fight lol
With deca taking so long to kick in,how long did you run it for?
12-16 week cycles.
It takes about 10 weeks for Deca to reach full strength with me.
10-12 weeks with test for two weeks longer then the deca brother
I have run a few deca cycles. I found my sweet spot for bulking was 500 test and 400 deca per week. I've also ran deca at 100 per week with test, didn't notice the strength increase but my joints felt great. Last I've also tried deca at 600 a week with test at 400 and after a few weeks deca dick started setting in. Thank god for Cialis.
