Nice job. Big weight. Conventional?

bolt781's picture

Yes conventional. No shaking nice and smooth.

brancobob's picture

My man... No offense to the sumo crowd but I love hearing people pulling big numbers conventional.

bolt781's picture

Thanks brother! Sumo stance sends sharp pains through my hip due to a huge get off back when I raced motocross. Fractured hip in 3 places. Could never do leg presses either, can squat and conventional dead no problem...go figure...knuckles brother!

brancobob's picture

I work some sumo in from time to time. It all depends on my programming really but I just don't like it. It's fun watching people like Dan Green do it but I'm not really a fan of it.

Good shit man! Way better than my PR...620 brother.

shawn0712's picture

There's a lot to be said for tequnique. I recently saw Larry pacifico's son lift. At 220's that dudes a beast. He's got his girlfriend squatting more than a lot of guys I know.
I've always hugged the boundaries between bodybuilding and powerlifting, but have never really chosen a side. Seeing a man break 2500 on a raw is just insane though. It made me feel kinda weak.

kodiakGRRL's picture

technique and form are everything ... I had some really bad habits benching and when i broke it down back to basic form and technique my weights dropped initially but I handled 225 like it was straw when I got back up there... unfortunately for me I m so big that my weights have to really be up there to compete with the smaller gals ...

DBG's picture

Right. That's all I do is adjust shit. Raised my bar position on my squat just for comfort and have only made 20lbs in my pr in a year.

And yes...it's so competitive. I have no chance at competing with some of these hitters totaling 2K...1800-1900+

shawn0712's picture

1800-1900 is some serious weight. That definitely qualifies as monster. If I ever hit that I'll be happy. It seems these days my abused body is working against that goal

DBG's picture

In about 5 years...I'll hopefully hit 1800. My coach thinks so. After my first meet, he said he can see me get an all time best above that

bolt781's picture

It ain't easy being a beast-lette!

kodiakGRRL's picture

lol.. no I live in yoga pants and have abandoned my jeans for purposes of riding the bike .. I m sure its a great show the fit .. well, is a bit off ... ;-) no one mentions it though ;-)

bolt781's picture

I lost focus after yoga pants.............................................................................................abandoned jeans................................................great show.............that's what I gathered lol

kodiakGRRL's picture

lmfao.... If I could post the first time I ever rode my bike ..lol...

bolt781's picture

You'd have to bring pics with that post....hahaha

shawn0712's picture

I definitely agree. I just recently realized my errors with squats and deads. It's made a pretty dramatic difference. I was keeping my legs too close together.
Right now I'm focusing on hitting the major compounds twice a week, once going to a 1rm and hitting the drop sets from there, and the next time doing 5 sets of 8 and focusing on form and contraction.
I'm really interested in some of the explosive exercises with bands, but haven't made that leap yet. Too many passions and not enough hours in the day.

bolt781's picture

Thank you brother! I think the both of us could walk a smart car around town lol

tattooguy13's picture

tattooguy13's picture
