Good genetic composition to start. You will transform if you "sweat" each time you are in the gym (I have). I , 6 years ago, was 285lbs, under 6 feet.

I am now 190, muscled and feel so much better. Great job Obit....lol..name

I would look at cutting first. I tried to develop big muscles AND lose all the weight by treadmilling and eating like a Spartan....clean unfried foods..

Read a doc say, "It is good to stay toned while cutting but trying to build and cut at same time is just too hard."

An old BB friend (67) told me a few years ago, just get rid of the "drapes" (fat) and you will be very happy at the muscle groupings you can see even without 3x week lifting. I have done that and am just now getting back to a bulking phase soon.

When I was 63, people (men and women) stopped on street to look at me. LOLOLOL.....63. One kid said, "You are EXACTLY what I want to look like AT YOUR AGE!" he could have left the last 3 words out...:)

Tweak the diet and stay consistent with the training and you should tighten up pretty good.

If you had the balls to put yourself here, you still have the motivation. Like said below, light weight and don't over do the reps, they will come. Stay focused but don't over think it. And stay hydrated. Do you. +

Just remember that Rome wasn’t built overnight and it’s the small victories everyday that will get you to your goal. In all honesty I would do more of a lower weight higher rep plan with cardio till I got the muscle memory down and so you don’t injur a joint or tendon. Then increase the weight by small increments as your body gets stronger. We are here to help if you have questions or concerns, my good friend Theo on here would be a tremendous help as he is older and in superb shape with a wealth of knowledge I would seek him for advice as well, he will be able to help or modify your plan to your age ( no put down intended lol) keep up the progress +2

Good luck. You adding cardio in there?

Obit's picture

yeah, not enough, was doing stationary bike, at least 10 miles a day, but have been working on bulking up, oh, and I wasn't sucking it in, big mistake, thanks.

You can still do a bit of cardio, even when bulking. I do about 15 minutes of medium cardio. It helps me to loose fat at a slow, but steady pace, while keeping my size.
