+ 24 Possibly competing again

ad

My wife is trying to talk me into doing another show in about 10 weeks. I just don't know yet. I'll be 47 years old by the time the show happens and donr know if i stand a chance. I guess I just need some encouragement since I told most of my friends and family that the show I did last August was my last one. I guess I'll see what i look like 4 weeks out and decide then.

I was all geared up and ready to step back on stage last August and i had to pull out due to a work related issue. What happened was, I put in for 2 days off for travel time and another guy at work had also put in for the same days off....no biggie. Then, he transferred to my division and they dont allow 2 guys to be off at the same time. His was a family situation and i didnt want to be an asshole and decided to call it off. Now I'm back at my old job driving a truck (which I've been doing for almost 24 years) and it keeps me away from home for about 5 days a week so I'm only able to hit the gym about 3-4 days a week. It's never kept me from competing since my diet is pretty good year around. Plus it's nice being introduced on stage for my posing routine as "the truck driver" which always confuses people. Who knows, i just turned 48 2 weeks ago and I'm thinking of doing one more show before I turn 50. If I throw my hat into the ring again I'll definitely post it on here because you guys always motivate my fat old ass to press on. Thanks for asking my friend!

Damn! Well keeps me motivated to look as good when I hit 50.
Live life with no regrets.
How do you keep your diet on point while on the road?

I get that question a lot. My wife, who is in better shape than i am at 44, does meal prep every Sunday. She sends me with 5 days worth of meals which is basically shredded chicken breast, sauted spinach and rice. I throw in apples and bananas with peanut butter every day as well. I also make up for sitting behind a steering wheel all day by doing a good amount of cardio after every work out. My metabolism hits the brakes mid week and I feel like a bloated turd by Friday when i come home....which is the main reason why I have an elliptical machine in my living room. Its a challemge but I've been doing it for over 2 decades and i seen to have a pretty good grip on it.

U actually look damn jacked and conditioned. Dont know what show your doing, but if you didnt walk around 280 ripped through your 20s, I can probably bet you can do it now. Well, 280 is a little out there but you know what I mean; it just seems that the old schoolers who make a come back struggle to put on that size Once More. May be to your advantage. I can say, although Ive never been a bodybuilder, was not a very good nor talented boxer, but conditioning was always there. I lost half cause I sucked really, but it just seemed that I was always competing with myself, and At least, at least I got in there and tried it. You know how a lot always talked about it but never grew the discipline nor balls to try it, or just do it.
It seems from here bro that your only Foe out of the dozen others on that stage, is you; Master that and ur gonna win or be humbled no matter what. You are just doing it. Ive learned a very hard lesson being temporarily hospitalized because of my lack of respect toward age. Im 43 now, and I can at least look back and say that I got in there and had some fun with it. I tried it and never got hurt, just a bit dumber and uglier, and flippin humble man. Everybody wants to be a pro fighter or bodybuilder but most will never put in the years of intense training and eating or get on a stage at least to try it, nor will 99% of guys whom desire to be a fighter or at least try it and have fun with it but will never get into a ring, and in front of thousands with the spotlight on you. Fuckin A man. Fuck in A, win, lose, who cares now, your fuckin doing it a shredded and jacked grown humble man just knocking it out having fun turning heads at the same time. Lolol. Fuckin love this post. Thanks for the motivation bro. Ur gonna be good. Best wishes on this. No luck is needed when this kind of hardwork is a priority. You got the genetics. Ill never match you.

47 really is young to pack the most muscle if you have not done it all ur life prior. Best wishes on this bro. I lost 15 of 28 amateur boxing matches and 2 of 5 pros, one of those losses was to a 45 yr old veteran Muy Tai who put an asswhooping for 4 rounds; I was 24 yrs. I lost a bunch because they were better than me, not because I was out of shape. Dont really know why I threw that in there but...im there in age and the post is encouraging

Liking the shape at your age, well done, looking crazy!!!
Wondering how am I going to look when I reach your age, thanks for motivation picture

want2bbigger's picture

I think just about anyone can look like this at my age. Its all about consistency and having the will power to stop stuffing shitty food in your face. Eating like a dumpster every once in a while is justifiable (maybe a meal of garbage once a week) but if you stick with a decent diet it's fairly easy to stay somewhat conditioned.

dextetherdog's picture

Yeah that makes lots of sense, really hope I can keep it up as long as you do

Big Tone36's picture

Look fkn great bro you should do the show. Considering your current condition it should go pretty good for u

want2bbigger's picture

Thanks man. I think I'm just going to maintain my current condition, then about 6 weeks out it'll be balls to the wall with training and nutrition.

Big Tone36's picture

Dame right age isnt nothing but a number hope u shut them young guys down on stage. Old man muscle maturity granite look

storminmark's picture

Damn I need your diet

want2bbigger's picture

I don't really have a specific "diet" that I follow religiously. To be honest, I eat oatmeal in the morning then about every 2-2 1/2 hours I eat a chicken breast with vegetables and usually more oatmeal sometime in the late afternoon. Then its steak and veggies or more boring ass chicken and veggies for dinner. Tons of water too. The leaning out part is thanks to cardio about 4 times a week. I can't jog/run due to constant shin splints and calf cramps so I just walk on a treadmill for 20 mins or so at a time. The only drawback to having 19" calves I guess. I do eat a cheat meal about once a week but it really isn't that dirty of a meal. Usually the wife and I take the crotch rockets to our favorite outside eatery and order up a few burgers without the bun and a big plate of fries. Maybe have a beer or 3. That's about it!

Dat tan

want2bbigger's picture

Hahaha. I lay in a tanning bed once every 2 to 3 weeks and get a good tan. Any more than that and I change races.

Makwa's picture

NIce. I would just do it. You are halfway there so no suffering for a 16 wk prep. lol

want2bbigger's picture

I'm not doing a grueling prep ever again. I went through that shit one tine and it was enough for me. I keep it very simple...the right food, train hard and a moderate amount of gear. Just keepin' it simple. Thanks for the kind words, sir.

Damn Bro, 47 no way. You look better(No Homo) than most of the 20 and 30yr olds on here. I'm about to hit 39 and shit you got me beat by a mile. If you can look that cut at 47 then there is no excuse for the rest of us to say we Can't. So what ever your doing keep it up because obviously its paying off. Your a true motivator and a inspiration to the community. You should for sure compete he'll even by chance you don't win you can represent all us old farts and show them we YOU can still bring it.. Good luck my friend. +1 all day.

Damn I'm 39 and just made me quit whining about being old. Thanks for motivating me! +1. Looking peeled!

You've got plenty of time left to grow my friend. And thank you for the comment.

Nobody competes because they kind of want to. It a passion bro. It’s why we see all these ex-pros trying to make comebacks. If your health is holding out I say chase the trophy till you’re six feet under or you truly don’t have the bug anymore. Sounds like you still do. Access to trt and hgh is building better masters divisions every year. It’s incredible, and you’re looking great brother. Just have fun and enjoy your passion.

want2bbigger's picture

I'm not saying that the desire to compete isn't there. Its just the timing and location that has me thinking that I should hold off. My yearly show that I've been doing was canceled and this show is around the same time but a few hours away as opposed to being local. I agree that as long as I can keep this old body looking like this I'm willing to step on stage and see how I hold up to the younger guys. Thanks for the kind words btw. It does keep the motivation going.

want2bbigger's picture

Honestly, a buddy of mine who has his pro card just saw me and said that I look like I'm 3 weeks out. I say maybe 5-6. Thanks for the comment btw.
