Posted this in gear pictures because I'm not posting it for karma

kidney results I got

ethylene glycol poisoning is antifreeze/coolant that goes in a car.

Doctor said a mouthful can kill, I drank about 400ml and another overdose in January with tablets. Happy with the results, I thought they might be damaged.

Wolfhound you just brought an awareness of a reality that is going on right now with a lot of people and needed to be brought to the forefront. Thank you for your honesty and sharing. There is no shame in it and dont ever feel like it is.

Cochise's picture

You got that right covid and everything else is messing with everyone in some way.
damn pumped is that you in the profile pic? Looks like your Putting in work!

Pumped_'s picture

The real me in in my pics. My older daughter was having fun with her app. Its only on my avatar so im not perpetrating. But its mostly me, im still putting in work. Got weights at home and i stay home like im on house arrest. Self isolation when you work in a nursing home has its pros and cons. You can focus on family and working out but boring as all.... lol

Pumped_'s picture

Wolf! In 2005-2007 i was in a toxic relationship and within 2 year period tried 3 times. My parents never gave up praying and im a new man today. They spent so much times on their knees, prayer requests in church, i was in a coma twice. Just didn't see any other way. But now with Jesus in my life, new wife and kids i dont see how i ever felt like leaving this world. I will continue to pray for you and you are here and alive as a testimony. Even if your story touches one person it is all for God!

May your blessing outnumber the shamrocks that grow
And may trouble avoid you wherever you go

♧IRISH BLESSINGS♧

IrishWOLFhound's picture

press1's picture

Was this an accident or intentional mate?

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Intentional pal. Was in a coma for about a week, couldn't walk for a few weeks or go to the toilet. Had to wear one of those bags. Had to use a wheelchair

press1's picture

Is your eye appointment soon mate?

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Was at the doctor in at 4pm mate, appointment for laser eye surgery. He's hopeful it'll work Smile

press1's picture

Any update on when the surgery will be bud?

press1's picture

That's Bloody brilliant mate :-) I'm extremely happy for you

Spark's picture

Thanks for being honest. People need to talk about mental health more. Instead of just telling everyone they are ok when they are not.
At times I would talk to people and hoping they could see in my face the mental anguish I was in. But they don't pick up on it.
I feel your pain brother. In a dark place now myself but trying to push on cause I've got young kids.
I hope you are in a better state of mind now.

Pumped_'s picture

And thats our problem we wont say anything thats why its up to us to be real attentive to those close to us so we see the signs they are subliminaly giving us. I was there. And having kids will not prevent us because we convince ourselves that our loved ones are better without us and we are doing it to help them so they can move on and have someone more deserving care for them. So be careful yourself and admitting right now that you are in a dark place is a great step out of it already. Depression tricks us.

press1's picture

You know I never looked at it like that bud, I always thought if I had children that they would make me want to stay but I guess yes - I can see how you would think they would be better off without you. Interesting perspective if you haven't been there yourself. It's like when others say why can't you just stop drinking for me - aren't I enough? But its not about that is it, its that you are too scared to stop and cannot mentally see a way out of it.

Pumped_'s picture

After my suicide attempts i was called " SELFISH" "SELF CENTERED" "WEAK" "TRYING TO JUST TAKE THE EASY ROAD OUT WHILE WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH LIFE". You get a lot of anger also from loved ones because they dont understand or thats their only way they know to cope with it either. They try tough love, soft love, section you, but its only when God is done pruning you. When you prune you cut off the dead limbs to grow a bigger healthier bush and i think thats what is happening with us survivors. The ones that dont make it i dont know what to say because there must be a greater purpose.

Christ Bud - You have to just say to yourself mate that although you may feel like utter hell mentally at the given moment there will come a point when it passes like now. And doing things like this you are only harming yourself and damaging things internally so when you are wanting to run gear and train again you are gonna really regret doing it, I know its easier said than done at the time. Its like when I was an alcoholic and I hated life and myself that much that I almost purposely let myself go including not brushing my teeth for days on end - now I'm paying the price for it as it caused a lot of decay prematurely which I'm having to get put right now. I permanently live in regret over it and cannot believe I did it. Don't do this kind of thing ever again bud!!!

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Yeah it's done damage internally, doctor said it's damaged my eyes, Ill lose my sight within 10 years so I won't see my kids grow up. I've only got 10% vision in my left eye and 60% in my right eye

. Will need a kidney transplant too in a few years, my family got tested and their not a match so I'll have to rely on getting a kidney from a stranger.

No damage at the moment but doctor said it's only a matter of time but oh well I'll just have to get on with it.
It's my own fault so I deserve everything that happens to me mate.

Yeah alcohols a killer, glad your doing better now buddy

press1's picture

When they look for a kidney donor what do they check - is it blood group?

IrishWOLFhound's picture

Bloods and some other stuff. My bloods came back OK so hopefully they'll keep coming back ok

Molinin302's picture

Damn my man, a lot of us have been through some pretty shitty times, life isn't always easy. I'm glad you're still here, obviously it wasn't your time to go. Don't be too hard on yourself, it was a learning lesson. Lessons aren't always kind. I work with the elderly and one thing I've learned, there's definitely something that's worse than not getting any younger, and that's not getting any older. Stick around a while man. Best wishes.

press1's picture

This is one of the most upsetting things I've ever read mate - ANYTIME you wanna chat you just send me a message day or night, I'm always here.

IrishWOLFhound's picture

There might be something they can do, I'm not sure yet.

I have an appointment next week, antifreeze damages every nerve in the body. I'll regret doing it for the rest of my life.

That's the first appointment since August even though I pay a fortune for it.

press1's picture

I'm guessing thats because of all the Covid stuff is it? My dental surgery has been closed for 4 months but finally they are seeing me on monday :-)), stuff we normally take for granted isn't it.

I was in Asda last night deciding which box of eggs to buy and all of a sudden I just thought - Isn't it funny 2 months ago I was stood here and most of the time they were completely out or if you were lucky you could get a 6 pack of mixed weight with a load of feathers and shit still stuck to 'em and that was like gold dust!! Lmao

press1's picture

Really sorry to hear that :(

If there something in it specifically that damages sight or just that it goes through all areas of your body?

I know people who have had monthly injections into their eyeball to delay blindness - I forget what the condition is called where I think it fills with fluid gradually over time.

Is there nothing that can be done at all given they know what is happening?
