Was in there for quite some time yeaterday. It was pretty apparant the antibiotics weren't doing anything at all which is why I headed to the ER. My fever got up to 101.6F by the time I got there, also had a little vomit session the parking lot on the way in.

Atomini you were correct I wouldnt have to wait, They sat me down, I told hem the situation, they tool my vitals and sent me straight to a room.

Doc asked some q's he then took my blood, urine and had me cough up some phlegm(sp?)

Within about 10mins I was layong there with an IV in me, HR monitor and what not ... side not, either all nurses are smokeshows or I was a little delusional .

Anyways I was there for about 12 hours as they wanted monitor me. I have to go back in on Tuesday, I guess they want to take some tests or something.

My arm is now hardly swollen, still some redness and the pain has become more of a dull annoyance.

Now the shitty part. Doc said my immune system is in the shitter and to not think about hitting the gym for at least 2 weeks. This doc was a really cool guy, id say late 30's to mid 40's , his enormous veiny arms strongly suggested something to me lol.

Now the really shitty part, dropping out of EBC. I dont like to be a quitter but it's a must.

Grimey, good to hear the improvements. In regards to the immune system, you should seriously run out to a supplement store and buy NAC (N-acetylcysteine) and take that with lots of time released vitamin C tablets. NAC is an extremely potent immunomodulator, so much so that it actually can be used to treat a myriad of conditions. I wrote an article on maintaining liver health during oral AAS use and included a detailed section on NAC here: http://forums.steroidal.com/educational-forum/54-liver-aas-induced-hepat...

If you supplement with NAC on a regular basis (I use 2,400mg/day), you should very rarely come down with a cold at all. It is incredible stuff and would assist your recovery not just in restoring your immune system, but also assisting recovery and healing in every other aspect as well. Definitely look into it!

GRIMEY's picture

Will do, already on top of the vit C, will grab some NAC.

Man I'm glad to hear you got in there and they got you feeling better. Real sorry to hear about your compromised immune system and EBC, but it's not as important as getting better. Let us know how it works out Tuesday. I guess I should take my own advise and drop out as well, my hernia is making workouts unbearable. I am going to schedule surgery for September so will see if I can hang in there.
Get better bro I'm pulling for ya.

GRIMEY's picture

Thanks bud, it sucks, but the weights will always be there, Im sure there will be plenty more EBCs in the future and health has to be #1 concern. Careful with that hernia and best of luck to ya!

Well .... its about 430am, can't sleep due to the pain. The redness/swelling has now made its way down to my elbow which is causing pain in my elbow now. Temp is slightly elevated at 100.1F , and feeling a little nauseous ( might just be from the pain and/or worrying ) ......

Headed to the ER, and its Friday so Im sure I will be waiting 4 hours in a room full of injured drunk folk lol.

Damn Grimey just saw this. I hope your doing better bro, any update? Get well my man praying for ya.

Atomini's picture

Yes, if your body temp is going up and you feel like shit (and the abscess hasn't improved), it's time to go to the ER. Don't worry, you won't be there for 4 hours. The ER never serves people on a first come first serve basis, they prioritize based on the severity of the person's problem, and an infected abscess is pretty severe, so you should get in very quickly. I'd say an hour or less (unless everyone there has multiple gunshot wounds with their guts hanging out).

Atomini's picture

How is it going Grimey? Any updates?

GRIMEY's picture

Not really any better. Went to the docs today. He decided he wanted to drain it a little to see what the fluid was like. So he buried what looked like a harpoon in there, he did not freeze the area first,
is that normal? cause straight up that was excrutiating, he then pulled out a few CCs of what look to me like nothing but blood but thats obviously speculation. He told me to continue with the antibiotics and Im going back tuesday. Since the needle it appears to be more swollen, its certainly more painful and more red.

Oh, then he lectured me regarding the stupidity of steroid use.

I was also informed that if I start to see any red or purple streaks, if it starts to form a prnounced "head" or if I become suddenly ill to go to the ER asap.

Go to a different doctor/ER. Sounds like he's not very compassionate and doesn't really know what he's doing. And the next time some idiot doctor lectures you about steroid use saying "this is what you get", tell him/them that this would never happen if anabolic steroids were legally available because you'd be able to get perfect pharmaceutical grade product instead of screwing around with underground stuff.

cmo25cent's picture

Damn brother. You caught it early so that helps a lot. I'm sure the antibiotics will help. I had a infection in my tricep and bicep from a pin in the delt an my whole arm turned red and hot and they gave me 10 antibiotics that were exspensive even with insurance but they worked. Did you get a injection of a antibiotic too? 2 days isnt a lot of time to give the oral antibiotics a chance to be affective unless you got a injection also.Sorry your dealing with this brother.

I agree! I was going to say earlier that if the abscess is left for too long or if it has developed too much very quickly, IV (intravenous) antibiotics should be administered alongside the oral antibiotics. For something like this, the hospital ER is a better place to go rather than the walk-in clinic.

Atomini's picture

Okay, Mega has brought this to my attention because I am known as being an extremely knowledgeable individual.

It is very possible that an individual can have an adverse reaction not to the hormone, but to the oil type or any of the solvents. Some people might be allergic to certain oils, or to various solvents, perhaps the benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, or ethyl oleate. These things are very rare, but they do exist.

This is obviously an abscess. Well, the question is whether or not it is a sterile abscess or an infected one. A sterile abscess could mean its merely an allergic reaction (or the person might have injected far too much than the muscle is capable of holding). Sterile abscesses can also occur from tissue irritation. You shot your triceps with oil based gear? That's a very sensitive risky area, and possibly something has been irritated (connective tissue, nerves, etc.).

Infected abscess is obviously due to bacteria entering the injection site, either through the person not performing proper injection procedure, or the gear itself wasn't properly sterilized (which I doubt, as Mega's stuff has always been okay as far as I know). Infected abscesses obviously come with a fever and a hot-to-the-touch injection site. How did your injection procedure look? I've known a lot of idiots in my time who won't swab the top of the vial with alcohol, AND they won't even swab themselves before injecting. Many get away with it, but some don't.

Also, after swabbing, you should let 30 seconds pass for the alcohol to evaporate. Too many people swab and then IMMEDIATELY stick the needle in. WRONG! Bacteria needs at least 30 seconds to start dying after alcohol is applied. The alcohol also needs time to evaporate from the skin. Dragging significant amounts of isopropyl alcohol deep into muscle tissue is not exactly a good thing.

There are so many factors that can contribute to an infected abscess. Even the smallest amount of bacteria can really screw someone up. To give you a good analogy, bacteria getting into an injection site is like the equivalent of throwing a sausage down a highway tunnel where cars and trucks drive into. Try to think back to your injection procedure. Did you allow the alcohol enough time to sterilize bacteria on the surface? Did the needle accidentally touch anything before injection? Anything at all?

GRIMEY's picture

Thanks for stopping by, I like reading your posts, you should make more here and less on that other site ;) anyways.

It is hot to the touch although I do not feel the slightest bit ill and my body temp is normal. The swelling appears to have gone down slightly but the red area appears to have spread a little. The area isn't mushy.

As stated below I'm pretty anal about my procedure being sterile and I certainly allow more than 30 seconds after swabbing the injection site before injection, If a needle ever comes in contact with anything it gets tossed and I start over.

It wasnt virgin muscle and it was only 1/2cc.

Just to make things clear I'm by no means pinning this on Mega's gear. As stated this was my 4th or 5th jab out of that vial.

What do you reccomend? should I continue warm compresses? I will obviously continue the anibiotics. When I see the doc tomorrow it will be at the 5 day mark, would you reccomend it being drained at that point? if it improves at all by tomorrow would I just continue with the antibiotics?

Thanks for the comments/remarks. I actually got banned from the other site because I became a fulltime writer for Steroidal.com, go check it out and join up on the forum!

Anyhow, that's a GOOD sign that your body temperature is normal. If you have a full blown fever, that's when it would become very concerning, as it means the bacteria has left the abscess/injection site and entered the rest of your body. Definitely keep the antibiotics up, continue warm compress, and give it a bit more time. It might have to be drained if it doesn't begin to subside after a week. If you've begun the antibiotics, do not ever stop. You need to run the full course of the antibiotics otherwise bacteria in your body (even if its not bacteria in your injection site) will grow resistant, grow stronger, and you can end up with some very serious bacterial infections (and i'm not talking about your abscess, i'm talking about elsewhere in the body). It's just like when you have a sore throat and the doc tells you to run the full course of antibiotics even well after the sore throat has gone away.

Keep a close eye, monitor it, see if there are signs of it subsiding (even the slightest sign is a good sign), but you also don't want to wait too long.

Have your doc check for MRSA. Amox won't do a thing if it is It's no joke. Lost limbs or death aren't uncommon. Don't wait, get it checked. It can kill you in less than a week

sarmanti's picture

One more question, do you have any suspicions on how you got it? Did you use an alcohol wipe on everything invovled?

GRIMEY's picture

I dont want to speculate.
I used a seperate alcohol wipe to prep the vials, prep the injection site as well as for the injection site post injection, heck I use a few wipes on the table thing I use to get everything ready. Always use hand sanitizer before starting the process. I'm pretty anal about being sterile to avoid situations such as this.

When I had a bad injection it took 3-4 days for the swelling to go down even on antibiotics. You might not need to get it drained just give your body more time than 48 hours

GRIMEY's picture

Yeah Im going back to the docs Friday evening after work, we will see what state it is in then and what the doc thinks at that point.

I've had one in my glutes about a year ago. Bad stuff!
Are you sure that's 72 hours? I've seen that development with at least 120 hours. I've let mine about 6-7 days and it had to be opened up.
They leave that bitch open, they don't stich it! It also leaves a nasty mark.

To everbody else: Don't leave yours, contact a doctor ASAP.

You should name the source that you got that crap from.

GRIMEY's picture

I would only bring the source into the situation if I knew for certain it was an issue with the oil, which if you read below where I replied to Angus, this was not the first shot out of the vial so it could very likely not be the oil, althought I am very sterile with my procedure it couls be something on my end.

Don't jump to conclusions.

Nasty dude, I feel for you. If antibiotic don't work just find an urgent care center if you have any in your area and get that shit drained, don't risk doing it yourself, a lot of guys have been doing it as of late and eventually someone's gonna fuck up and really make matters worse. Good luck.

GRIMEY's picture

yeah, ill just go back to the docs, not a chance in hell I'd do something like that myself.
