+ 9 Body stats beginning of new cycle and my 10mm project for the gun lovers!

ad

Went for my acupuncture appointment earlier and my man there got this contraption that you put your stats in then you stand on it and there was a few sensors put over different parts of my body and I had to hold these sensors in my hands. Anyways that was the printout. As I’ve said in other posts I spent the past few weeks in Eastern Europe it 10 days of it was the most difficult stressful scary days of my entire life. My stress was constantly maxed constant fight or flight extreme sleep deprivation and because of the circumstances I couldn’t even take my trt regularly and food had to be preserved so I was in a deficit the whole time. So now I got some proper stats on body fat percentage which came to 10.9. Last 5 days of the trip when I ended up in Poland all I did was eat and sleep. You’ll see it says how much of the 220 Im currently weighing is skeletal muscle mass, weights in both extracellular water and intracellular. Clearly shows legs are lagging but I have a nasty injury to my right knee. So I gotta find a way to start adding mass to my legs without fucking my knee up more. But every two weeks I will redo this and if you look at the bottom of the paper you will see it states body composition history. So it will show my progress. I thought this was pretty cool. Now if any of you are gun lovers the Xdm elite from Springfield Armory made in Croatia by HS product is in my honest opinion the best polymer framed striker fired handgun chambered in the gnarly and powerful 10mm. Out of the box it’s got the nicest trigger about a 4.5 pound trigger pull crisp break and all stock puts Glock triggers to shame. The xten from sig might seem nicer but at the end of the day, it is a P320 variant so if you wanna chance the gun going off on its own with a 10mm charge be my guest I’m not that fucking stupid. I got the 5.28 inch threaded match grade barrel from Springfield so it’s factory mainly to maximize the velocity of the round. Or to get a suppressor because the muzzle flash from a 10mm is insane. At night if I shot it in self defense in the dark I’d be blinded. But for home defense I use my Walther pdp pro sd instead. I added a heavier wolf recoil spring with an extra 2 pounds resistance to lessen stress on the frame since I’ll be mostly shooting full power 10mm loads not that watered down 40 short and weak nonsense. Adding the grip tape to the grip on the frame made a world of difference. I can get a much firmer grip on the firearm minimizing recoil further. I switched from the tlr1hl light to the new hl-x variant which took it from 1000 lumens to 1500 lumens since this is mostly a woods gun for when I go on trips to Alaska for bear defense. That Steiner mps red dot optic on it is worth every penny of the 500$ it costs. It’s fully enclosed again more appropriate for being outdoors in the wild. I have one last thing to do I’m taking this and my hk usp expert 45 right now to drop off to get their sights changed. For this 10mm build I got the XS Brand 3 dot tritium night sights in suppressor height so I can co witness thru that red dot optic. This is my personal hand cannon unless going with a revolver this is as powerful as it gets and don’t mention a dessert eagle because they may be fun but not reliable enough to risk my life on it. The HK USP expert being able to handle .45 super out of the box thru the 5.2 inch polygonal barrel id also consider a hand cannon but only if shooting .45 super or .450 smc out of it. Standard .45 acp or even +p don’t come close.

10mm is the best mm

I went with the Glock Model 40 in 10mm because it has that 6.02” barrel to get the most of a cartridge that is (supposed) to be magnum-level.

Worked up some hand loads with the hornady XTP but I still gotta chrono them and make sure they group well and hit point of aim point of impact with my bear loads.

Then it’s on to getting the correct lead mixture to cast some hard cast lead bullets so I can roll my own bear loads also haha.

Nice to see other firearm enthusiasts here! If I’m not gunsmithing on my workbench for my 9-5, I’m gunsmithing in the gym for my biological guns haha.

I had a xdm for a while. Buddy of mine bought it off me since I got back in the days when 40 was popular. 40 is still popular in competition shooting circles apparently

Did you have any issues with it at any point.
I’m dying for a 10mm Echelon Comp….

Nope only thing I didn't like is the grip safety. I missed it a couple of times but that's a training error. If it was more like a 1911 with the memory bump I'd be happy. But no issues only thing I changed was a flat trigger I can't remember dudes name I want say something like freedom Smith.

Samzilla's picture

I actually just ordered an extended grip safety and spring pack for the trigger I already love the elite trigger but the springs should lower the pull weight by about 1.5-2 pounds. Honestly, on a 10 mm I don’t mind an extra grip safety. Any extra precautions to help prevent an accidental discharge while I keep it loaded with underwood 155 grain XTP hornady Hollow points. That’s a 155 grand projectile traveling at over 1500 ft./s. You do not want an accidental discharge with a gun loaded with such a lethal round.

I don’t own any sigs. German made sigs or perhaps some of the legions. But I love German guns.
Walther PDP PRO SD has the nicest trigger of any striker fired gun it’s the closest thing to a lower entry 2011. I got the full size it was a bit snappy as they say stock. the VP9 from HK or the Echelon are definitely flatter shooting. However the PDP’s recoil spring is a bit oversprung it was a single flat wire recoil spring in it not a dual assembly I swapped it for a DPM recoil reduction system it looks like your normal robust dual recoil assembly but it actually even has a third spring. Then some brass backstrap and swapped the aluminum Magwell all to increase frame weight then adding a large light a stream light to the front rail all those changes made it extremely flat shooting now also put XS 3 dot tritium suppressor height sights on it got a aim point acro for it perfect setup. Listen I worked as an instructor for HQL and CCW classes as mainly thru my state but also worked at a range where I taught any of their pistol related classes. Working theee I got to shoot any of the rentals anytime I wanted for as long as I wanted but anytime I saw sometime shooting something special I always asked if I could put a mag thru it so many nice custom 2011’s like taran tactical pit viper or atlases staccatos I can’t afford anything that nice going up to 10 grand but they are fucking in world of their own. Point being I got a lot of guns and I’ve owned all the guns made as duty weapons. Glock 45 with the 4 pound Glock Perfomance Trigger which any of you who have glocks you’d be foolish not to get the Glock performance trigger they got a 5 pound and a 4 pound. Since it’s a factory part from Glock in court it can’t be used against you because in states like mine if you do ANYTHING aftermarket to your trigger. They will rape you in court for it, even if it was self-defense at least in the type of state I live in, unfortunately. You’ll be so much more accurate with that trigger swap on a Glock because their triggers stock are horrendous. The new HK VP9 variant they just released a few months ago calling it the VP9 A1 you all have to check that one out too but still I consider a Walther PDP with some of the changes I suggested but it has to be the pro model so when you buy it they will have installed their upgraded dynamic performance trigger. Even the stock PDP trigger is better than anything else in this category out of the box. Caniks have great triggers too because once the Walther p99 patent expired canik began developing their triggers as close to the Walthers as possible. The German special forces the Bundeswehr just adopted the Walther PDP to replace the an HK USP 9mm variant. So my number one recommendation to anyone for the best duty pistol it is the Walther PDP pro with the few upgrades it will be unmatched. Recklessly accurate and the best ergonomics and grip. Also did a brass mag extension for 23+1 capacity and boys I ONLY load G9 defense external hollow points in all my weapons for defensive use even have them for my 10mm and .45 BEST ammunition you can legally get your hands on. Just look at a photo and you’ll see how radically different they designed the bullet. Federal HSTs for best expansion and Hornady Critical Duty for Barriers that’s actually what the FBI chose but fuck them. The G9s are the best check them out. It performs better than anything else on the market thru barriers like drywall auto glass sheet rock heavy clothing car doors etc. but then still after going thru these barriers it keeps it keeps going straight to the target then causes more than twice the tissue damage and penetrates more than enough but still doesn’t over penetrate which you don’t want either in a self defense encounter god forbid with people around. If I’m not mistaken I believe the G9 EHP 9mm +p will penetrate level 3A body armor. Or my second recommendation would be an Echelon from Springfield especially the echelon comp with the ported barrel and integrated comp. It’s cheaper than the PDP but as a duty gun for actual self defense use or as a duty weapon for work those two and the new vp9 a1 you can’t beat those. They put Glock to shame. Although I still love my Glocks. I just realized I wrote a book this will be the last time i speak of firearms this is a bodybuilding site. But I love talking guns with people as much as steroids lol.

I was joking bubba bc how much crap sig is getting and rightfully so! I can definitely tell you have a passion for guns! Totally agree with your view on the government also given your bio... sad to see where the US is headed when no side can be trusted but that's a whole other conversation.

Thank you for your service btw.

I've been considering the Xdm elite 10mm for a while. I have a Glock 20 and I'm a huge 10mm fan.

Samzilla's picture

You can’t go wrong! besides the sig which I won’t touch with a 10 foot pole I’ve had the Glock 20, I was really exited about my FN 510 tactical but that gun at that price had too many issues with basic reliability. The Xdm elite 10mm had a torture test done and passed with flying colors. It’s never let me down not even once. But because I only shoot full power loads I replaced the recoil spring every 600 rounds just to keep stress on the frame and internals to a minimum. Out of all the polymer framed 10mms this one is the most accurate and the designed it so
Well it has minimal recoil. I’m considering ordering a DPM recoil reduction system for this as well. I wish HK made a USP expert in 10mm with an optic cut and modernized light rail. That would be the ultimate toughest most reliable 10mm ever in my
Opinion but that will almost certainly never happen.

That thing is a beauty, might have to add it to my list of what to add to the collection lol I would definitely be adding a suppressor, but probably worth waiting until January so you don't have to spend the extra $ on a tax stamp since that's going away

Samzilla's picture

Holy shit I didn’t know this been so out of the loop. Thanks for letting me know I’ll def wait.

It’s great that the $200 fee is going away, now if we could only get suppressors removed from the NFA. Have you go through the process recently? I’ve heard in the last year it’s been super quick, like 1 month. Last time I did years ago it took 14 months.

PrimoPantani's picture

The last two I applied for took less than 48 hrs plus one SBR transfer stamp that took ~48 hrs. Form 1 applications are taking about a month (waiting on one now) but they used to take like 12-18 months so I’m not complaining. Literally one of the few things the government has actually improved that I can think of

Growtherino's picture

Yeah it's too bad they didn't keep the same language in the bill as when it was in the House. I know there are some follow up lawsuits pending saying it creates an illegal registry so we'll see how those play out. I was an impulse away earlier this year, but I try to put off purchases over 500 as long as I can to be sure I want it. Once the bill passed I figured best to just wait to next year at this point. I did talk with some companies and they said the process was really smooth nowadays.
