+ 7 Acne on the mend

ad

mjh36 posted these before pics a few months ago, so I compared it to now and didn't even realize how far I've come. This acne was one of the most painful, annoying, frustrating and depressing things I've gone through. I know people go through much worse issues, which I tried to keep in the back of my mind, but it really effected my daily life and even more so my self-esteem. I was wearing shitty clothes all the time because they would bleed through, didn't want to go out and do anything, had a hard time sleeping because moving around hurt like hell, couldn't back squat, lie on a bench for chest, etc. With an antibiotic, some topicals, and some more holistic approaches - this is the progress I've made so far. My confidence is finally coming back and I'm back to wearing tanks even though the PIH is still noticeable. SO grateful for how far I've come since that before picture.

This post really filled me with joy young lady! I am so happy you're feeling better physically and emotionally! You pulled through like the champion that you are! +1 for making really great progress and being the beautiful human being that you are - inside and out! Love this!

I suffered the same as a teen. The pain is unbelievable, my scars slowly faded and now don't look so harsh, as yours will too. A tan helps to hide them. +1.

I'm glad its working out for you!! I have some cystic acne on my back, hard rock lumps. So fucking annoying, cant wear white shirts, don't want girls to hug me and feel that. Worst part is it wasn't brought on by AAS, its just the way it is it seems. Derm prescribed me Accutane finally, doxy didn't do shit, retin a...clindamycin and benzy foam all did nothing... all prescription. I'm 26 now and its been coming and going since I'd say around 22. It just does what it wants basically. I'm hoping the Accutane fixes it. Even if it does though I know I'll have scars, really depressing. I'd like to compete one day but I definitely cant at this point. It's only on my back though too!! nowhere else really so I'm grateful for that.

I hope the accutane works well for you! I'm sure it will. Don't let it get you down though, especially the scars. By having the acne and scars, I've learned to really not give a fuck what other people think because I have the few people close to me that love me regardless of my skin or what I look like. It shouldn't determine your self-worth! And as for competing, I wouldn't let it stop you. A few of mine were open and deep when I competed, and I'm pretty sure the tan infected it and made it spread, but if they aren't active and it's just the coloration, the tan will just cover it up! Again, good luck with your treatment, I wish you the best!!

Thank you so much, this means a lot to me!! You're right though, I would have never made it through without mjh, and even with the scars and all he's helped me get my confidence up even higher than it was before. Thanks again for this comment and your support, it's greatly appreciated!

Really good to see! I was wondering how you were doing . Just stay positive and keep pushing through . I get pretty depressed at times for what seems like for nothing. Your doing great and looking good !! +2

I get pretty depressed at times for what seems like for nothing.

Acne is the only thing that has made me feel that way.. and it was a terrible feeling...

Wow, you've made amazing progress.. It takes courage to post a picture of such terrible affliction. I know I have it myself... Don't let it get you down sweetheart.. Happiness comes from within yourself, keep pushing yourself in the gym and in time your body will become a beautiful sculpture, and your self esteem will go through the roof. I'm about to begin some accutane myself right after the EBC, hopefully I can pass along some good news to you. +2 for your courage, commitment and progress... Keep smiling.

thank you so much!! i've definitely spent a lot of time working on within me in my time off... i know it will really help with working on the outside! good luck with the accutane. I've heard both good and bad obviously, just wanted that to be a last resort for me and luckily I've made good progress so far without it!

im glad you're doing better, that must've been a horrible thing to deal with.

kb007's picture

That's what I've been using for about 2-3 months or so, I love it and think it has really helped the progress!! Thanks!

I know first hand what you were going through... My acne started after I was off my cycle and I tried everything OTC to get rid of it for months... Finally went to the dermatologist and he prescribed 2 months of Minocycline and 12 months of Clindamycin gel... Two months later it finally started to clear up and after three months it was totally clear... Been acne free for 3 months now and the dark spots are almost totally gone... The tanning booth a couple times a week helps to dry them up and blend in the dark spots:)

My back broke out like yours. Look like a war zone. Hurt like Hell. Went to a dermatologist and prescribe IC Doxycycline Mono and cleared right up. I feel your pain.

kb007's picture

It's the worst!! My derm prescribed me cephalexin, then my primary switched it to doxy and then my derm switched me back to the ceph lol... Honestly since it's been healed I haven't even been taking it because I don't really like antibiotics, and I haven't gotten any new breakouts... Just focusing on the pigmentation now

Maxx's picture

I believe stress was factor in my break out. When I was young full of piss and vinegar being stress out would have a lot of acne.

kb007's picture

It was From the anabolics.. Had a bad reaction to some gear I was using for some reason. Everyone suggests accutane but I didn't really want to go that route and neither did my dermatologist. It's healed really well, just patiently waiting for the color to fade. If you have any suggestions for PIH I'll take it, just don't wanna use accutane

vhman's picture

I have gone out of my way to tell people about the very real and significant side effect, as related to Accutane, to folks here on Eroids. Most guys get a few zits and they think that Accutane is the answer.
That being said, Accutane is appropriate for your cystic acne. I'm surprised your dermatologist didn't direct you that way.
I'm very glad that you've made significant progress, but if it returns or you can't get rid of what you have, I would seriously consider accutane. It will clear you up, no question about that. Very best of luck to you with this issue and especially in the EBC.

kb007's picture

Yea I never understood why people with very mild acne took accutane! For some reason I think she stayed away from putting me on accutane because she knew the acne was from anabolics, I don't think she wanted me to deal with more sides from that med. I'm pleased with how it's come along though and I haven't had new breakouts so I can't complain, like I said just waiting on the color to fade... She also suggested some needling option later on to help with that

only1cat's picture

Don't take accutain, I do not like it as a last ditch effort my wife went on it and a month into it, it dried her joints out so bad she stopped it. The side effects are not worth the rewards of it. Among other side effects after stopping it.

+1 Acne sucks. We work so hard to look great, then we have to cover up because of the acne. Great progress.
