Mohammed Altaaf Sharif, 25, Who is an employee with the Queensland police department abused his position as an IT specialist by keeping tabs on criminal activity involving anabolic steroids so he could make sure he wasnt under investigation for the supplying them himself.

It has been reported that Sharif had ran his name 8 different times between 2009-2010. It was only revealed that he had been doing this when a police officer had intercepted a phone call with his friend where he had openly bragged about his insider knowledge.

The court had been told that Mohammed Altaaf Sharif had low self esteem, because he was no where near in shape as his "athletic father".

Sharif has plead guilty to one count of misconduct in public office, for checking the police database to see if they had any knowledge that he was supplying anabolic steroids. It was reported that his friends would buy steroids from Sharif.

After pleading guilty, Mohammed Altaaf Sharif, had been sentenced to 12 months probation and 100 hours total of community services, if completed then he will recieve a conditional discharge for the offence. This was a very light sentence considering this is not his first offence. Sharif had already recieved 18 months probation and $1000 fine for possessing steroids for the purpose of trafficking.
