ideas to quit smoking, need some!

ad

I want to quit smoking its coming Between me and training. Nothing like smoke after sex better yet after a good training session. But I'm tired of smelling like buts.also I know my average three miles before weight training would be more like five if i could put down the tobacco. Sometimes I feel so weak it's only a smoke? Anyone got ideas to quit smoking that may work?

Cold Turkey bro. Seriously. Throw them in trash and say fuck you tobacco. That's it. That's what I did after 7 years of a pack a day. I tried other shot but it didn't work. Just man the fuck up and quit. For real only you can beat the addiction. You gotta be bigger than the addiction.
Might not work for you but it worked for me.

Smoking is gross, I quit 11 years ago, but E Cigs are total douche baggery. They look retarded and still carry nicotinic to the blood stream witch causes vasodilation and STILL promotes cancer.

We try to live the lifestyle of health, strength, diet and exercise. Just do yourself a favor and give up the nicotine!

Good luck

No, nicotine does not cause cancer. Nicotine is about as harmful as caffeine. Your right tho it is a vasodilator, just as caffeine is. But it's harmless.

Dextermorganlv's picture

I'm not so sure. The jury is still out on whether nicotine causes cancer or not. It is definitely less harmful than all the other shit in cigarette. Here is an article saying that it does cause cell mutations

Although, one can find other articles say that it doesn't cause cancer.

At least we can have caffeine though, I have to have my morning java!

lol fuckk. Why does everything cause cancer. Well i guess this 60 dollar e cig i just bought was a waste of money. Idk though, i could probably find 100000 articles that say its harmless. But its best to just quit all tobacco and nicotine all together

vasodilation

Vasoconstriction is caused by nicotine. Agree with everything you said above though.

I quit cold turkey in 2007 after smoking a pack a day for about 6 years. I just decided I was done, wrote my top three reasons to quit on my mirror and that was that. I have smoked like one cigarette since then. When I smell it now I am shocked that I used to smell like that. Just set your mind to it and you will do it. Good luck

irongame427's picture

Im in the process right now bro, and its tough. Ive done it with the patch and it does work but you really have to want to do it. But I never seem to get off the patch. I just got prescribed chantix and I will be using that as soon as I do some more research on it. Good luck man

Yeah you got banned so move on fool.

You could always try the e-cig, and slowly taper your nicotine addiction. at least you wont smell like an ashtray. Its cheaper than smoking, depending on the state tax.

I am not saying this will work for everyone, but when I was much younger I chewed tobacco and I went and saw a hypnotist. Threw away my last tin on the way out and never touched it again.

The way I quit was when I wanted a smoke I went and did cardio. Want a smoke? Go run the block a few times until your out of breath.. Bet you dont want want one then.. LOL.. Just make sure after that first week you dont pick on up thinking its just one.... Youll be right back to going through a pack or 2 a day. COMMIT once your mind is made up!! Mental toughness is amazing!

Chantix bro or sheer will power.....or a lot of both. Chantix is good if you can get it on insurance if not it is worth the cost...it will help you get over the withdrawal......good luck....it can be done.

Chantix worked really well for me. Shit is expensive though. most insurance won't cover smoking cessation anymore. (which is total bullshit)

cold turkey is the best way i smoked for 8 years and one day i had enough and never looked back if you are truly ready and have had enough you will succeed .
Try chewing gum bring a pck with you where ever you go
good luck

CHANTIX...some insurance companies don't cover (crazy, right?). Chantix after day 3 will have killed ANY urge to smoke (15 year smoker here). The trick: don't stop taking after first thirty days. Your mind and wallet will want you to stop... DON'T! Take at least 60 days and Chantix will make your quit easy...the only negative side effect that I saw was Vivid dreams.

ericnonaya's picture

i actually loved my dreams from chantix and looked forward to sleeping every night because of the awesome dreams:) only one nightmare that i remember the rest were happy and exciting lol

Hate to say it but it is really a mental thing. Sure like drinking and other drugs there is a physical addiction aspect to it but it really boils down to the decisions that we make every day. Will I go to the gym? Will I eat that crap? Will I let that idiot piss me off? Will I do what is right when know one is looking? You and only you know what you need to do. Additionally think of the $$$ you will save, that shit is getting expensive.

This might provide some incentive. http://whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Benefits_Time_Table.html

I've only been off of the smokes for around a year and a half. What did it for me was my wife and I having a baby at the age of 39. I know that if I'm going to be able to keep up with him as we get older, I'll need to be in the best shape possible. The other things that helped me was quitting coffee and beer for the time being.

This is my opinion, patches, gum and meds may help initially, but ultimately aren't going to do it for you. You have to sincerely want to quit. It gets easier. I barely think about them any more. Also, you realize what you have been smelling like to other people who don't smoke lol. It's pretty bad.

Good luck, bro. Apply some of that dedication you use for the gym and you'll succeed.

I quit 12 years ago with nicoret gum. Quitting is hard bro, commit and quit... If you fail, quit again. I work healthcare and see people dying everyday from smoking. Terrible drug
