Cooking appliances...what to get?
ad
So I'm in the military, which means I live in the barracks, so no kitchen for me. I'm wondering what would be some good appliances to buy. For sure getting a George Forman, but I also need something to boil water so I can make hard boiled eggs. Any ideas?

I have a steamer for brown rice and you can put chicken breasts and veggies above the brown rice and it cooks and steams simultaneously. Its digital so all you do is put food in and hit a button. The brand is Aroma maybe try and google it. just watch out for health and welfare inspections cause at least the barracks I was in we were not allowed cooking appliances other than Microwaves. Good Luck. Oh yeah and George Forman makes the big grill with a a flat stove top next to the orginal grill with adjustable heat control. I used to have one when I was in barracks too. That thing was good for eggs and stuff like that.
Anonwe weren't allowed ANYTHING we had to use the mircowave in the day room.. I had a single burner and a blender though.;-)
OMG I just looked up the Vitamix you talked about. Get out your savings card holy smokes!
Anonlol.. I said it was pricey but with a 10 yr warranty and the things you can do with that thing..omg.. it has already paid for itself..twice over.
not only that but if you are single and living in the barracks what else do you have to spend your money on? I know how much money I made ...pissed it all away too..

I have been in your place quite a few times. Single burner plates can be had from Amazon for less than $20 shipped. WalMart has them around that price also. Get an 8" or 10" pan to do omlets, fish, ground beef / turkey, etc. Get a pot to do your boiled eggs and beans in. Rice cookers are good if you eat rice. A dorm size fridge/ freezer. Craigslist is your friend. I do alot of TDY's so I keep a footlocker of this stuff ready to go if I have to stay in barracks or base lodging for any length of time.
Nevermind the bullet wont boil water.
A magic bullet but not the one for the wife.
Anonbreak out your check book.. and get yourself a vitamix.. it is a hefty cost but you can blend a full meal in that thing and never know it.. I LOVE it.. I posted a protein shake somewhere that covers the whole food spectrum and it tastes like chocolate malt...
I microwave eggs by cracking them and putting them in a bowl. There's a thing for backpackers called jet boil, if you really have to have hardboiled eggs maybe get tight with someone in the kitchen. They might boil a bunch for you. I take it you don't eat them raw lmao. If you got tight with someone in the mess hall they might hook you up with a lot of good stuff.
dansta123i cant live without my non stick pan..you could boil eggs with that or poach, fry, scramble make omelettes with them.
