50 and struggling to lose fat

ad

Ive just turned 50 and been a year long mission to recapture my glory days when i was pretty Jacked (LOL)

I've never really struggled to put on muscle and have made some fantastic gains over the year after a 3 year long break from training ( with the help of 2 x 12 week Test and deca cycle over the year, with proper pct)

I'm genetically very stocky 180cm and look quite good with some ab definition coming through, a good weight for me would be 100 to 105 kilos, with clear ab definition

Im really struggling to lose that last bits of fat ( Muffin top) my diet is absolutely on point on about 2100 calories maintenance is 2500 calories ( which I yo yo to try and fool the system). I don't drink and do 40 mins cardio every do on top of 6 days a week 1 body part a day weight routine, Im stuck on 110 kilos for the past 3 weeks.

I used Clen to help me get to 110 kilos from 125 (along with a good diet and cardio) and it worked well, I didn't get any bad sides or bad heart rhythms . I'm considering using it again but with T3 added..to shift the last bit......I have a very slow metabolism

Thoughts on mixing the 2 or best to stick with Clen

Ps If any one else is over 50 and thinking about doing a Test and deca cycle.. Its been a game changer for me, my joints dont hurt any more and the test has given me the pep and get up and go that we need as we get older.. The doctor checks my bloods .. he's not happy that I do it but understands..

Hey my man, I'm not sure if I'm the best person to answer your query or not, but have you ever tried the keto diet? During the pandemic, I fell into depression and got so out of shape around my stomach, it was absolutely disgusting. Just for the hell of it I tried keto, and within 3 months I lost 3 inches around my waist doing no gear and no exercise, (as we were in a long lockdown here in Ontario) it's scary to think what I could have achieved with gear and access to my gym.

The only hard part is that first month is living hell, no sugar, no carbs, but if you have the strength of will to get past that point, your body really does adapt. I wish you well either way, but I'd advise caution with any drugs that can affect your thyroid. Take care my friend.

Try out the rock diet. I SWEAR by it. Every morning for 2 weeks you eat a handful of rocks. By eating the rocks it begins to break out your teeth little by little suppressing your appetite.

If he jiggles when he walks, then it is loose fat.

Maybe the preposition "to" should be "with"

I know this may sound crazy, but have you ever had a sleep study?

I have central sleep apnea, so it's not snoring but I just stop breathing. Metabolism and fat have always been a problem, but they became much easier to deal with once I realized what I had and got treated. For reference, my morning Cortisol was like right around the max on the reference range and stayed like that until the evening. Now it's where it should be and the little things finally have effects like they should.

That might not be your case, but a friend's dad turned 56 a week ago and he found it all out. For your question, stick with the clen (maybe lengthen it with ketotifen) and ignore the T3 like Rustyhooker said. Take it steady, your body might be just working on deeper visceral fat that's less noticeable.

Thanks.. Ill look into this.. The wife thinks I have sleep apnea..

thanks.. done some research as you say.. you got to know what you are doing.. Ill stay away...

The clen does agree with me... Il give that another go as well as upping the cardio.

I don’t doubt that T3 abuse can cause problems with your thyroid but have you read a scientific study which proves this? I’ve never met anyone who has abused t3 and had lasting consequences. I had a quick look and couldn’t find one myself.

Factitious hyperthyroidism can also occur when someone takes too much thyroid hormone on purpose. This is very uncommon.

Although a list of pretty crap sides it doesn’t cite that there is a links between t3 abuse and ruining your thyroid function.

3 cases out of thousands. Not arguing that it’s a shit drug but I don’t see much proof in the posts you’ve shared mate. There’s been hundreds of deaths caused by drugs sold OTC so 3 reported ones due to T3 isn’t an insane amount.

This is where I’m scratching my head as most people will say t3 is a dangerous drug to use but I haven’t seen an actual scientific study on it.

I had read the same thing about thyroid drug abuse shutting down natural thyroid. I can't find any scientific studies confirming it though. I met a women once, years ago, who said she screwed up her thyroid from abusing medication and was now on thyroid meds permanently.

GrowMore's picture

When you say medication do you mean t3 etc or benzodiazepines etc? The latter I have heard can screw you t3 up and I believe one of Rusty’s links said similar.

It was so long ago I don't remember exactly what she was taking, but it was a thyroid medication that she claims screwed up her thyroid.

I’ve looked myself over the years and haven’t found anything. Yeah a pubmed study with plenty of evidence would be a win.

I think there are other things besides clen to lose fat. As we age it metabolism slows and diet and exercise become more important. When we were in our 20's it seems like we could do a lot of things we can not do as we age. I personally did not like clen due to jitters and heart felt out of whack. There are peptides, and other things available but depending on ones health you may have to search out the safest method with minimal harm, although there's always risk. There are a few guys on here that would probably better steer you in the right direction. Much Luck
