Your thoughts on protein shakes with clean eating? Allowed?
ad
I have a questions for my fellow eroids family. I have recently decided I was going to try to get a lot more lean and by doing this make my diet on point with eating clean.
With just one week of doing so I can see a hell of a difference already.
I have struggled with knowing if having a whey protein shake is considered clean or not????
I have not yet included it last week. I know the best source of protein is through foods, but when times I leave the gym and need it within that first half hour.. I been researching n I get a lot of mixed reviews so I knew I could make a forum here n ask the experts:) please tell me your thoughts?

In my opinion you should get protein from a few different sources daily. I try to have a coupe. Chicken or turkey meals, a couple egg meals , a fish meal and even a protein powder shake/ snack or two a day. If a couple shakes a day fits your macros and you are eating multiple other protein sources then by all means drink up
just make sure your protein is not loaded with fat, sugar and carbs. Read the label.
Very clean.. I am leaning out with a keto diet and I will have 1.5 tbsp of peanut butter with a 50g whey protein shake 2-3 times a day and the fat is melting off with no bloat or gas etc.. it makes life easier too just having my little jug of pb and some powder with a shaker on me
it depends on what type of protein powder you buy. l There are some leaner options then others i.e isolate. If by clean you mean strictly low glycemic carbs like oats, brown rice, good fasts like olive oil and natural peanut butter, and meats like chicken breast, tuna etc, then in order to have a clean whey protein you can't buy one that has any carbs and fats. This is because all the carbs in them are from some form of sugar which is not clean, and the fats are also from bad sources. So just look at the label when you buy your protein and find one that doesn't have any carbs or fats.
But honestly I wouldn't worry about clean to much, just hit your macros and keep it natural. Idk about you but I wanna eat steak, some whole eggs, I wanna be able to put some butter on my food, i love my fruit which isn't clean. If your really trying to eat clean these are you options. Protein- boneless skinless chicken breast, rainbow trout, salmon, turkey breast, tuna, egg whites. Carbs- oats, brown rice, yams, sweet potatoes, ezekiel bread ( not whole wheat, its hits the blood stream as fast as a snickers), quinoa, kidney beans, black beans, and for fats olive oil, natural peanut butter..... and thats it.
It sucks, I've been doing it for 8 weeks now. about to kill myself.
Yes as clean I mean low carbs. That's is exactly what I am doing, is eating brown rice, oats, lots of meats (no deli) and the whole nine yards. Natural peanut butter, olive oil, low n nonfat milk if needed, no butter, and limited fruits. Yes it is about to kill me. lol I bought sweet potatoes but still trying different things to try to make me like them. Thanks for the advice:)
Yes absolutely ,. As it's a low sugar low carb protein .. Optimum nutrition makes a good one.. Also helps you get your daily protein intake if your not a big meat eater. Just make sure you steer away from the ones full if sugar and additives .. My 2 cents
x2! on both ON and meat eating...Whey has saved my girls life now that shes been eating clean, she can bearly put down as much chicken it requires in a day to eat right, quick scoop of whey and she saves her self the stomach ache and still gets a meal in
bigwillyiv never been a fan of whey protein. it makes me dumpy like emmmm I cant explain it. iv been using the purified egg whites from GNC for the past few years. I can promise ya youll like the egg protein much better for staying lean. its about 40$ a tub and should last ya a few weeks. that plus your clean eating should do it for ya. NOW with that said you already look very athletic and fit so I cant imagine that you need to slim up any or get any leaner but hey, to each his own.
Thanks. I want lean look such as being able to see abs. I don't have that. Still need to lose more body fat first
