water or milk with protien?

ad

Thinking about mixing water with protien so as to not feel so damn bloated as i do with all the milk. Will i just urinate the protien out with water or will water do the trick?

I think milk is heavily processed garbage. Its gross and I never drink it. Same goes for all dairy products (yes I know where whey comes from).

I agreee with breadbarry. Upon waking up and post workout, it would be better to take whey with water. Milk will slow down the absorption rate. For casein and gainers, it would be best to use milk. From a taste perspective, milk is a much better choice. Your goals should dictate which milk you choose, skim, whole, etc...

I never use milk, but only because the bulking diet gas has caused me serious marital problems.

If you aren't bothered by it, it is good for the last pre-sleep shake of the day

im not bothered by it but the wife is i guess haha

Depends when are you drinking them and what your goal is.

Pre/Post Workout - You want water. The fat and casein will slow down digestion - the last thing you want.

In addition to meals/before bed/middle of the night when bulking - You want milk. Mix it with casein (not whey) so your body has something to chew on all night. This is when you want the slower digestion.

So... you want to do both. Just time it appropriately.

Bulking right now is the name of the game. Ive been drinking it with vitamin d and 2% for the added calories. I wake up starving too no matter what I eat before bed. You suggest casein?

If you're still lean in your bulk and need to add extra cals, go with the milk + casein before bed. On my bulks I usually chug one before bed, then use the same shaker and make another one and throw it in the fridge. With how much fluids I take in, I get up at least once a night to go to the bathroom and down the prepped shake from the fridge. Try it out brother.

The casein itself will digest slow but it will not slow the digestion of the whey in the protein..it will only add an additional protein.

breadbarry's picture

True, but all the fat in that Vit D milk is going to kill any digestion rate.

He didn't say anything about vit d milk in original post (until his reply to your post) and neither did you, that's why I corrected you ;) regardless even the vitamin d milk fat won't slow down the digestion so much that he won't digest the whey protein fast enough.

They both do the trick but I like milk because it adds a casein protein to the whey protein I use
