Rugby Player to Body Building
ad
Hi Guys
I was a semi-pro rugby player. I have used gear in small doses for recovery on injury and to increase my strength on the off season. I am looking to do a bit of body building around the middle of next year and thinking of going on 3 cycles before entering the competition.

thanks for taking an interest. Maybe I wrote it down wrong. Now that rugby is over (which took a lot of dedication and training) I want to invest my time and energy into something that may be just as rewarding. I intend on taking it seriously but as you can see I don't have a real plan going forward. So the first step is to decide how long it will take to get to a competing space doing things properly...
if you are really serious about bodybuilding, i would look into a coach. they will be someone who lays out a game plan for you (diet, training and gear). it sounds like thats what your looking for.
there are varying opinions on the mater, some people think you should wait til you can be competitive to compete. i personally think that you should just pick a show and get your feet wet. see if you like the experience. your first show will be more of a learning experience than anything else. from there you can decide if its something you want to peruse, and you will have some more knowledge on exactly whats involved for a competition.
its one thing to watch inspirational videos about bodybuilding, its another to be in the trenches doing the work while you have no energy on tiny amounts of food.
too address your topic, in terms of steroids, just because your starting to get into bodybuilding doesnt mean you should be reckless with your gear use. i would recommend taking a conservative approach. starting with basic test cycles and slowly progressing AS NEEDED. steroids are just tools. without the fundamentals in place you they wont be utilized to their full effect. diet and training are the most important. a lot of guys try and use crazy doses or stacks to make up for the fact that they are lazy and dont train and diet properly, dont be one of those guys.
worry less about what steroids and how many cycles you need to do before your first show, and focus more on developing good habits and getting as much knowledge about bodybuilding as you can. i have been doing it for a good number of years now and i am still learning more all the time.
you dont just do "a bit of bodybuilding". its a lifestyle. if you take it seriously, it will effect just about every aspect of your life. things like diet and time to train are only the start of it, even then most people fail. i dont mean to talk you out of it, but prepare to do more than "a bit of bodybuilding". nothing sucks more than thinking you worked hard to get into shape, then stepping on stage and realizing that you are not even close to stage shape.
You are either all in or all out. The training and dieting are tough but putting yourself first before family/friends/job etc is the toughest part. You really need an understanding wife/girlfriend because it is really going to test your relationship when you are in the heat of a prep.
Yes +1 bro!!!
What is the question then? Like Dick said below, planning on doing three cycles by the middle of next year is pushing it... baby steps.
Time on + PCT = Time off... by the middle of next year adhering to this rule you should be looking to just start the second cycle. You don't just wake up one day and decide you'll be an amateur/professional bodybuilder within the next 6 months, it takes a lot of time and dedication, usually multiples of the timeframe you have proposed to be truly ready.
Richard.SimmonsStats, 3 cycles is also a lot....
