+ 3 Gyno advice and surgery/insurance

ad

If you're reading this you likely already know what gyno is, proliferation of breast tissue due to a multitude of factors such as hormones like steroids or prohormones, drug use such as marijuana or heroin, anti depressant use and other commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals, tumors on glands such as pituitary or testicles, puberty/genetics etc.
I'm writing this to hopefully help someone, I've experienced many sleepless nights poking at my nips and Googleing stuff only to find that most people are only posting complaints and not solutions. And when I found possible solution they were misguided drug protocols made up by some bro scientist. I've literally seen people advice dangerous doses of SERMs and AIs trying to "reverse or shrink" gyno. Honestly raloxifene at a conservative dose is the only self medicating that would help...you need a doctor. But I've read hundreds of people saying "it's an elective surgery and insurance won't cover it and I need $5000 for a plastic surgeon" I myself went to 2 previous doctors who told me "tough shit it's an elective surgery"
"No one cares you don't like the way your chest hurts, you gotta deal with it till you have money for a plastic surgeon"(not an exact quote but it's what I heard)
No. You don't. The difference is PAIN. That changes everything. So I changed my tune.
Told them it hurts all-day, wake me up at night, interferes with work and my mobility and discharges if squeezed. Basically made it sound 10x worst than it is.
So I ended up getting an appointment and today I had my gyno removed under local anesthetic while awake and now I'm in the waiting room getting ready to go home!
If you have gyno....
Don't self medicate
Don't ignore it
Don't assume you won't get help because others didn't get help
Make sure you understand your insurance and what they cover
Don't mention steroids
Say it pubertal and never went away and is getting worst. Gynecomastia is a proliferating tissue and whether it's cancerous now or not cancer does run in your family and not having the mastectomy is medicalky irresponsible because the gland intact will increase your chance of getting breast cancer as a male.
For my insurance I had to stress and argue 4 points with my doctor that he could in turn explain to my insurance to get the coverage...
1.) It's a persistent condition years old (puberty was my claim)
2.) Lowers quality of life (interferes with work is important to them )
3.) Not treating it could lead to a worst problem (carcinoma)
4.) Its causing persistent pain even when not stimulated (they want it to be a type of pain you can't deal with)
I showed records of me complaining to 2 doctors and I went to the ER (you have to do this to show on paper that it's pain related-just complaining isn't good enough. They want see you bitch and moan about it. First 2 doctors told m it wasn't that bad and I should deal with it. Their mentality is that unless you come in with something broken or bleeding than they don't care much.
Eventually I need stumbled upon a good doc who cares and didn't care to see bloods or a mammogram, he said quote "if it hurts thats good enough for me" and he dealt with my insurance and helped me alot.
My advice, don't get discouraged, I know how you feel and what you're thinking and no you can't remove it yourself and yes you will find a helpful doctor as long as you are persistent and play the game right---complain alot, exaggerate alot, assume no responsibility for it just say it's puberty and them complin more. Eventually you'll either find a good doc or they'll get tired of seeing you complaining and evvvvvveeeeeeennnntuuuually they'll help you too.
Good luck.
And stop touching it you're making it worse.
Smile

I had one side removed at 18- obviously pubescent as didn't know steroids existed then- wish they had done the other side as have to have ai or nolva occasionally to keep it suppressed. Wore thick jumpers in summer on the beach to hide it- started training as I thought pecs would hide it. Good write up and welcome to Eroids +1

Edit: not stalking as you posted on my pic- just liked your straight talking and this was relevant to me lol

Where were you 20 years ago lol! Wish you'd been there when I had the op. I wish I'd insisted on both sides but they were adamant the other side would go with nolva- they didn't predict my future I guess! I'm UK based so lucky it was free. Plus use of steroids here is (currently) not a crime, selling is (they do count buying for a friend and giving it to them as dealing however). It's a good thing here as I can be honest- get a minor lecture from my GP, get treatment (even when rushed to a and e with an abscess) but it's not treated as a terrible thing so much here. That's why we so proudly support the NHS- free healthcare. Ruptured bicep? Operated on some 4/5 days later. Anyway, can see already you'll be a credit to the site. Good work!

Sounds like a huge pain in the ass, but worth it if you're suffering from it. Good post. Hopefully it helps someone. If I ever have an issue, it's sure helped me. +1

Oh and congrats on getting it taken care of. That's got to feel good knowing you're suffering is over.

I've never heard of marijuna giving people gyno if that was the case I'd have fucking triple d's lmao.

I've read that it can. Obviously a rare occuracne but I think it has something to do with potential down regulation of dopamine causing a rise in prolactin. Same with opiates.

yea I think the weed one is way more rare. just is a super slight possibility. the opiate one is still rare to my knowledge but more common. It's also why they kill your libido if you use them regularly (opiates I mean).
