2 new shoulders and ready to gear up again!

Coming off of a 8 month break for double acromion impingement surgery (one at a time). Any advice when dealing with shoulder issues? Thinking some water retention might do me good...., or am I way off?

You guy's are awesome! Good solid advice all around. Don't know why I didn't get plugged in to this forum from the start! The only problem I have with dumbbells is my solo workout days. Its really hard to get it up...the dumbbell that is! When I have a lifting partner he can hand me the weights and I can just go from there. When I am solo, especially in the decline position it's hard to lift the weights to the lifting position without putting a strain on my shitty shoulders. My gym is in a very rural area and we do not have those fancy retracting dumbbell benches. As far as the gear, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but when I get gear fever it's hard to not give in!
@arkansasmerica, brother, welcome back to the iron! The advice I'll add is the same as you already know in your brain. SLOW AND STEADY. It sounds like you've got a training partner that's also looking out for you. It only takes one moment of ego driven bragging to say, "yeah, just throw two quick plates on and I'll bang out a few quick reps" to do damage that'll last months (or longer!).
For me, I no longer use a barbell for any bench presses (flat, incline or decline). Dumbbells only. If a shoulder feels weird, I drop the weight to the floor quickly. Can't do that with a barbell. It has saved my shoulders from many over exertion injuries, many times. Dumbbells are magic, in my humble shoulder beaten opinion.
As for AAS, the boys in the comments below have you in good hands. Recover fully, and welcome back to the iron, brother!
I would just get back into the gym and train naturally for a few months and get all your muscle memory back first and think about doing just a simple cycle once you are comfortable moving weights back around again. Gains will come quick just from muscle memory, no need for anabolics during that time. Once you are back into the swing of things and starting to plateau then I would consider a cycle.
RustyhookerGreat to see you!
if your just getting back into it, and running gear is already a decision youve made, why not just run some test and get some rebound "newbie" gains again without going overboard on stacking? besides id be weary of running deca after shoulder surgery. the reason being say you are lifitng heavy and feel like your fine because the deca is soothing your joints when in fact you might be pushing your joints and tendon too much. i would want to be able to feel the warning signs if in fact i am putting strain on my recently healed shoulders before its too late and risk injury and further damage. deca only masks the pain doesnt prevent any strain. if stacking is a must id rather opt for EQ because of the endurance and collegen sunthesis it exudes. or even oxandrolone. those two could potentially help speed up any healing that still needs to happen
RustyhookerFully agree. And I wouldn't go big of test or the eq. Maybe a 500/500 with var. Avoid going heavy but work for the pump. Collagen boosters. Hgh even
Deca...agree too. Its a bandaid. Hides the joint pain til its too late.
+2
cheers rusty. i agree with you, no need to blast up too high being out of the gym and off gear for so long 500/500 would create drastic changes. hgh would be good if he can afford it, even looking into tb-500 might be worthwhile for the OP, or peg-mgf. i know peg-mgf makes my muscles recover in record time.
Yeah, I was thinking maybe a just running a typical newbie round of 750 a week of Test E and going from there. It's hard as crap to step back to this, but the last thing I want to do is take another 8 months off! It's also crazy how quickly your body "remembers" lifting. Starting off @ low weight and 185 lbs bench is comfortable for now. It's actually pretty cool watching the bar get heavier. Gonna set a realistic goal of 285 lbs max weight on bench. Just gonna take it easy and add 10 lbs a week to bench for 10 weeks and see how that goes. My training partner has promised to kick me in the balls if I try to add more lol.
haha well sounds like your mates lookin out for you. on a related but different topic have you thought about easing back and using more hammer strength type machine work, smith machine, ect rather than freeweight? so you can stimulate your pecs ect. without putting further strain on other joints? ...just a side note, personally i havent benched in almost a year and my chest has come up more than ever just using hammer strength presses, flys, pec dec, and dips. and im no where near straining my tendons as much as i used to when doing the big compound movements. whatever you do man be careful and lift smart. and dont let the AAS get to your head and make you too confident in the gym hahaha
There is only one benefit to working out on the hammer machines...you never have to wait your turn lol
I actually use them quite a bit, as normal dips tear my shoulders apart. I will hit up the hammer on chest and tri days to prevent injury. The problem I have is bench/push ups/ and pull ups are like crack for me and I can't kick the habit. The hammer is all I used in rehab so I am ready to get back into the pit!
haha to each their own. i benched for years and years always believing it was the best exercise to build a big chest and my chest was always my weakest area. then i finally stopped the habit and focused more on incline hammer, decline hammer, dips, and flys and my chest is now twice as big. but then again im a bodybuilder and could care less about having an impressive bench number. i rather have a chest that looks like i can bench 500lbs then actually do it lol and i found what works for me. but training is mostly about having fun and enjoying it so keep at it bro. enjoy getting back into the gym!
JoneDoeHappy to here you have recover and ready to get back at it. Keep your cycle simple it won't take much to get you back growing. Like chunky said and nice test and Deca cycle sound get you going.
It was a huge setback, but it's kinda cool getting to grow all over again!
JoneDoeTrust me your gone to blow up bro!!!
Test, deca, & high reps with controlled, smooth, perfect form. I would keep doses low to keep ego in check. Ease back slow and methodically. Don't let your desire to get back what you lost quickly get the best of those new shoulders. Best of wishes.
Thanks Man! I was thinking Deca would be the way to go. Yeah it's gonna be tough keeping the weight low and not trying to go big. Can't wait to get in there and get back to beast mode!
