ad

I reckon we can flood source pages. Give GK more traffic lol. Get a thread started. From boxing to MMA, anything and everything in between and outside.

What's your favorite combat sport? Do you have GOATS? Favorite fighters? Dream match ups? Whatever the fuck ever? Discuss, argue, throw bows, pull hair, muff punch....

Man I honestly love MMA and Muay Thai more than anything. Boxing, although it's beautiful it's one dimensional for me. But to utilize all your weapons, mmmm gets me going (boner!).
Jones is GOAT, Saenchai GOAT. I like Tyson but not my GOAT lololol I have no arguments.
Gordon Ryan, greatest grappler of all time to date.

Have at it like this Bare knuckle Muay Thai.

I have a question, I won’t ask who’s number one, there’s way too many variables. Who is the top group for movie star martial artists? Not someone that won one title and made a shitty movie, I’m talking someone legit.

JakeKO's picture

Believe it or not, Steven Segal is supposed to be an incredible martial artist. God knows he’s a shitty actor, but I’v seen legit videos of him taking on about five guys at a time and having his way with all of them

I'd have to think about that. There are a bit who are legit martial artists but it's all subjective. Look at guys like Chuck Norris or Jean Claude they have a legit background. Even Rogan is legit, ever watch his training videos. Dude can throw some kicks.

Drexyl's picture

Dear god, I’ve had nightmares about those kicks to my ribs. Jake said Seagal, and I’m board with that, but Aikido is a strange one. Jeff Speakman, there’s a few to mention. The kickboxer that was on that 90’s tv show, Sasha? He was accomplished. I think he was a woman beater though. A lot of the extras Jackie Chan uses in his movies are legit too. Very legit.
Edit- Sasha Mitchell

Aikido is legit, to a point but that video he showed. Man....no way people are running at you like that. Like that shit looks planned. It only works in certain situations. There are a number of legit martial artists but you come in with a karate punch facing a legit Muay thai fighrer, you getting handled lol. Kung fu is legit but again to a point. I've seen those kung fu grand masters get stomped by MMA guys. A lot of the old school practitioners don't like MMA. Nothing wrong with purists but a lot of what's taught isn't really practical. I watched this video of the chick, fighting this guy welding a fake knife. The thing is he wasn't fighting back. He had to be around 230 lbs she was maybe a buck 30 at most. Looking like she was man handling him but again, he wasn't fighting back. He could have easily slammed her to the ground no problem but didn't. I think shit like that is deceiving and it's unfortunate. People get this idea in their head they can be invincible because they know a few moves but get surprised when they get smashed lol

Michael Jai White is another who comes to mind

Henry Cejudo making his return to the octagon this weekend! Many say he’s the greatest combat sports athlete of all time. 2 division mma champ and an Olympic gold. Thoughts on Saturdays fight?

ONESICK's picture

I hope he smashes Sterling. As cringy as Cejudo is, he's hilarious. I can't stand Sterling with his BS acting for that first fight with Yan.

Nope. That died out when The late great Kimbo Slice died.

@ONESICK who is your GOAT in boxing?

ONESICK's picture

Ya'll can give me flack lol. I hold a little bias because I have a family member related to Floyd Mayweather Jr. 50-0 but he is a master at not getting hit. Sure fighting Conor was a cash grab as we all knew he'd beat him but up until then still. It's hard to argue no matter how you feel. People say Pac wasn't in his prime but Floyd is almost 2 years older than him. That's just me, there's a lot of greats out there. I really have no dog in this fight lol

DeeMan's picture

I can't be a true boxing fan without giving Mayweather his credit. I may not like his style but the guy is a smart fighter period. Yes I'd rather see Manny P or Roy Jones because they were more exciting but all Floyd did was win. Now I just wish he would of fought a few hall of fame guys in their prime. He should of fought Manny when they both were in prime years before they actually fought. But yea I give Floyd credit. He would of definitely went toe to toe with Sugar Ray Leonard and those guys back then.

Lol it goes without saying what my passion sport is. Love all my combat sports.

Favorite dream matchup is of course Ali vs. Tyson!

Drexyl's picture

Kenpo was my passion, but I’ve been out for some time. Injuries in and out of the ring. Still love it, still love all combat sports, but I’m a spectator now at 47yo with ribs that have been fucked up way too many times. Great idea to start this thread bro, should make it a group.

Gym and Bikes_bro's picture

I started young, with taekwon-do, later as I grew up, fell in love With Muay Thai which I still actively train, yet slowly but steadily I'm heading towards a classic box, because I find it way less destructive for my aging joints and body in general Smile

MMA takes the cake for me. Something about all the disciplines of martial arts coming together makes it so dynamic. It’s the closest thing to gladiatorial combat. Anything can happen at any given time.

ONESICK's picture

Too bad Bruce Lee wasn't able to see MMA. His Jeet Kun Do took all the greatest aspects of various martial arts into one system. He was ahead of his time. He saw that why limit yourself to one fighting style. But so many old schoolers would shun you for this thinking.

DeeMan's picture

Bruce Lee was a straight legend period. He's to martial arts what Mohammed Ali is to boxing. In fact Bruce Lee and Ali admired each others style very much.
