+ 2 Boxing politics once again huh? We are the suckers
ad
Well well well @Bill1976 here we go again with the politics of boxing. This is getting rediculous man. It's pure and simple..the BEST AREN'T FIGHTING THE BEST...PERIOD! Us pure boxing fans were supposed to have already seen Crawford vs. Spence along with many other top fights, now Usyk and Fury fight fell out. It's crazy man. I understand money plays a part but what about legacy? Even Roy Jones said nowadays this a a big problem. Back in the 80's and 90's the best fought the best regardless and the promoters didn't get in the way of that, hell in fact they encouraged it.

See Fury retired lads?!
Found it funny how he just did it through a IG post. Said essentially the same after he KO’d Whyte in 2022, but I don’t disagree with it. He’s had a great career and two consecutive losses to Usyk may have been his end.
What do you think about it?
Bitter sweet!
Great career, amazing really. In my opinion, the Usyk fights were too close to retire on... but he is at the end of the road, and he would need to go through AJ and Dubois before rounding back to Usyk. Even still, Usyk is likely to vacate, I'd say. Heavyweight takes too much out of him.
Good for Usyk tho, he beat the best!
@giardap and yes I heard he's retiring
100% agree with you that the Usyk fight was too close to retire on. In his mind he actually thought he won but he didn't win. Usyk is a one of a kind fighter no doubt. And Usky will eventually retire but not before he goes back down a division. Honestly at this point he has nothing to prove. The doubters, haters and naysayers look like some damn fools right about now lol. The guy has skills plain and simple. As far as Fury, I think he's closer to the end of the road than Usyk is at this point even though he's a few years younger. I do think before he retired he should of fought AJ and or Duboise.
Problem is when the demand for the fight is there these guys tend to wait it out and eventually suffer a loss or a few of them like Wilder did. Wilder and AJ should of fought years ago. Too late now. Well that demand isn't as high now that both lost.
Chad P you saw the Fury- Usyk 2 fight?
Good fight earlier between Fury and Usyk. Congrats to Usyk. He's a humble, hard working guy that deserves all the credit in the world. If if wins the rematch he will go down in history as one of the best boxers of all time. Already a future hall of famer for sure and I'm sure Usyk made his country of Ukraine proud.
its so good when you have a champ that models good ettiqeutte and behaviour- the nex generation looks at this and these celebs are what they look upto a lot of the time. what a great feat for usyk, he is not a definitive all time great with this victory and good on him. he's a likeable guy and humble and he's funny too
Yea Usyk has definitely made a name for himself and I agree he's a funny character
Great fight. Great champ. If he wins rematch and holds 2 wins over both Fury and Joshua, it cements his place at the top, although he’ll always have his detractors.
He's just a good dude that's trying to make his country proud and you won't see him acting a damn fool. He's already a hall of Famer but I agree if he wins next fight against Fury he should retire because his legacy will be cemented as one of the best. The rematch will be very tough to win though but if anyone can do it then it would be him. You picked Uysk from the start Chad P
Fury wins this fight easy if you actually came forward after landing some shots on uysk. He had uysk hurt multiple times and fell back instead of capitalizing and going forward I’m not sure what he was thinking. Great fight. Good on uysk. Hope to see rematch in October
@Gorillakingz I saw a comment you made about Usyk winning the fight because of that knock down and not because he won more rounds. A friend of mine said the same thing. So I went back and watched the fight and that just wasn't the case man. It was a good close fight no doubt but Usyk won that fight 100%. Both guys fought well but Usyk was the better man simply because he outboxed Fury. Fury will never walk through Usyk like folks thought, not going to happen lol. His best bet is a KO. Hope to see the rematch. 2 of the best of their era.
I had it 5-2 going into 8th and I gave fury the 12th so 6 rds a piece at very least once again I believe the KD won the fight and he won it fair and square
Some may or may not agree. Let's say that's the case though. Bottom line is Usyk looked like the better man that's all. He was serious while Fury was clowning around. Again good fight. Usyk deserved that win. He earned it. Stats seem to favor Usyk slightly
1 more to the collection..not counting Lineal Ring magazine title
Usyk almost outstruck Fury 2:1 in the 12th (18-10) and (14-7 power punches). How can you justify Fury taking that round?
It don’t matter. Why you arguing a fight that the right outcome happened ? That’s gay. The right fighter won I just don’t think it was some landslide. If you going by rds won buy more punches thrown then it’s 7-5 uysk
I’m not arguing anything. If someone asked me the same question I would give them an answer as to why I saw it that way lol. Debate doesn’t have to be negative bro.
Lol regardless what anyone may think the guy's resume speaks for itself. Great fight. Honestly after looking at the fight again he may have Fury's number which is common in boxing...Vernon Forest had Shane Mosley's number and Ricardo Mayorga had Vernon's number, yet Mosley beats Mayorga lol. Just examples.
Man that’s crazy. I always use those guys as an example when pointing that out. Good call.
O yea every boxer has that one guy that will always give them problems.
My hometown hero Bronco McKart was a dawg. Unfortunately for him, he fought Winky Wright 3 times. He was a slick southpaw who was a beast for the first 6/7 rounds most of his career. His kryptonite was tiring out late, but he was a top 10 guy for a while in a shark tank division (154). Also fought World Champs Verno Philips and Kelly The Ghost Pavlik.
I just commented to Gorrillakingz about Kelly too . Winky Wright was a tuff dude! He kept that high guard. Good defense.
What Winky did to the great Felix Trinidad will never be appreciated as it should. He made an undefeated World Champ look like an amateur. I believe Tito only landed 56 total punches over the 12 round duration. Also owns 2 wins over Mosley.
Man Winky was avoided and underrated in my opinion. Arguably he beat Bernard Hopkins.
I’m not being negative at all. I just watch boxing differently I don’t believe a rd is always decided by who lands more. But again like I said uysk absolutely won the fight I just think nit picking over rds takes away form what we witnessed. It was a great fight on the biggest stage possible. It was the first undisputed hw match up in 25 years both guys fought their hearts out. I’m glad it was a SD by the slimmest of Margins. It’s history so let’s embrace it and say it was close even if you see other wise. Good for fury for putting on that performance because I do think he’s washed and good for uysk for making history I don’t believe he’s all time HW but his mental toughness dedication and discipline is all time 100%
Bottom line Usyk seems to so far be the best heavyweight and cruiserweight of this era so that in itself says alot. Usyk is the best technician fighter around, bottom line. Certain folks just aren't giving the guy his respect that's all. I knew from the start, like alot of guys that this wasn't going to be a landslide by either fighter and to think so was rediculous lol. I think you and a few other guys thought landslide by Fury if he was on point and he was on point. The right man won and glad the judges got it right. Great fight
Bro you were all over my si saying fury eats him up if he’s on point..i can pull it up.you do this a lot try to control narrative to say you were right. It’s ok to be wrong. I was wrong I thought even last night version of fury would win he didn’tbut let’s be real Fury is washed man that’s not why uysk won but please don’t say that was prime fury
Fury lost and seem like you making all these excuses. Both are old. Like Chad P said if Fury lost then he lost. And yea at first I was going with Fury and then I said it would be a close fight unlike what you said about Fury getting a landslide victory if he showed up. So if anyone is trying to control the narrative it's you bro lol. Cmon man. I clearly told you it would be a close split decision and you said unanimous decision so those are the facts which we can verify. And no not a prime Fury but that wasn't a prime Usyk either so that makes no difference lol. Both are the best of this era.
Who do you have wilder zhang
Who do you have?
Meh I’ll go zhang because I think wilder is completely shot to shit. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he sleeps Zhang either
One more thing before I forget....you can make a case that in 9th round the fight should of been stopped...just saying. Some referees would of stopped fight.
Anyways that Wilder fight is trash. Zero technique fight. I have no idea who wins that fight. Both are past prime too
Yea that was a huge issue for me watching. Typically when I guy is chased around the ring getting clobbered it’s gonna be a ref stoppage, not saving him with a standing 8 count…..oh yea and it was inside the last 10 seconds of the round. So you can say he got saved 2x. One or 2 more big shots and he was done.
You don’t stop the first hw undisputed match in 25 years when the guy still on his feet. Don’t care how hurt he is
Agree. Let him fight til he falls.
Yea I agree.. but a few boxers actually died as a result of taking punches while on their feet on the ropes or corner. Look up Emile Griffith.
Not saying that was gonna be Fury"s case. Glad they fought on.
If he was trapped eating punches but he was moving all over the ring. But yes ultimately fighter safety is priority. Look at Gerald McClellan.
Yep Gerald.
Eventually I think Usyk would of trapped Fury. Only was a matter of time lol
If you remember, that fight was almost over early in the 1st round when McClellan knocked Benn out of the ring. Crazy the impact that had on the rest of their lives.
Yep it had a big impact. Even Roy Jones still talks about that
I agree and I'm glad it wasn't stopped. But just the thought the bell and referee would saved Fury. I would of never thought that would happen
Well frank warren just said he thinks fury retires n doesn’t take rematch. So maybe he’s a little more shot than we believed. But if that was his last fight good on him for going strong w an elite fighter. Sad Father Time gets us all. Fuck I remember Tyson quitting in his last fight against a tomato can and Holmes get a gift decision vs fuckin butter bean
Some guys like Frank are saying they felt Fury won but that's expected. There's gonna be ALOT of money on the table for rematch so we'll see. I'll say this, yea Fury lost a step or 2 but he still has some fight in him and he lost to a 37 old elite fighter that isn't in his prime either. So both fighters clearly aren't in their prime but they both are still ahead of the rest of the heavyweights...by how far ahead? Who knows.
Rematch will be close too.
If fury retires I wonder who uysk defends against. It can’t be Joshua again. Maybe Parker ?
I’m not saying uysk in his prime but I think he has another 1-2 years he is disciplined and dedicated I think he’s one that can push the age up there
You just never know with Furry's mental state. He can still fight. So if he retires then 3 fighters come to mind..Joshua, Parker and that Hachovic guy. I can't think of any other heavyweight. Not Wilder. Usyk can go a few more years I agree and Fury maybe another year.
I think Parker earned a shot
I always thought Parker was a good fighter even when he first won the WBO title years ago. He's gotten better though. Yea he deserves a shot as well as Joshua if Joshua keeps fighting well. Joshua and Parker should fight again in my opinion.
I think has gotten much better since hiring Andy Lee
