+ 1 Dry needling and Recovery
Hey everyone wanted to post this up as solid info & first hand feedback. I had a minor injury to my right shoulder; impacted the pavement. It was sore for maybe 3-5 days, but still mobile, I continued life & training. Now over a year later, I would have occasional "clicks & pops" only audible, no pain, or real discomfort. I see a masso-therepist every 3 weeks, he has mentioned the dry needling. After taking a few back pics after a work out, I was able to see a visual difference. I had my first appointment with a PT, they spent more time than I expected>. gave a good evaluation, after finding some weakness issues she advised adding banded scalpua depresses. now to the dry needling now.
Essentially the Pt described fibrous / scar tissue, explaining its similar idea "fine grit in a sliding door track". that the smooth bans of the muscles were dragging through & over some rough areas. im sure everyone is different to a degree, but after she pin pointed the areas she drove "needless" through the areas to create micro tears to reengage healing. after the treatment my shoulder was loose & comfy. I slept well, which I typically that shoulder was sore in mornings. im sure its not a cure all for everything of coarse, but imagine there are some guys that have an areas that this could help. She had 3 in, I was unaware I asked as she was putting the 4th, she said "4 now" . I'll include photos for reference

This is actually crazy to me. I tore something in my right shoulder over 8 years ago throwing a football side arm. After that, my shoulder was useless for certain things. Never had it looked at. Shit hurt at the time but nowadays it’s just clicks, pops, and snaps with no pain. I wonder if the same type of procedure could help whatever is going on in there.
I would have never have thought it was as “simple” as it is. I assumed the idea of acupuncture. After actually understanding and the “grit in the track” idea & I was game to try. I went to a local private practice was a nice place. I was impressed bc it was 100% 1on1, she had me their gym for eval. From your description of having the unpainful clicks and pops , I would say check Physical therepist office for “dry needling”. I found out from a masso therapist. maybe call some of the PT offices and masso offices for their recommendations. I would have never known or thought the place I found offered anything for me.
I definitely need to address it at some point. All those years, I never really cared. Now that I’m training often and taking health more seriously as well as putting way more weight up, it is something that has to be researched. I fear it could cause injury of some kind even though there is no pain right now. Definitely gonna visit some professionals in the near future.
You get the electrical stimulation on those needles, had some dry needling done for the first time myself recently. Partially tore my brachialis under my Bicep, really seemed to help for a couple days.
No electric pulse. PT said not to wait more than a week, said to schedule another 3 appointments within a week of each other. Idea is so continue to chip away and bring fresh blood. I am amazed as shoulder still feels 100% better than the last year, & I’m 24hr after needling and a heavy day at shop. I’ll update after time goes by, figured this kinda works as my log also
