Anavar/Liver Supplements Female here

ad

Hi all !
I am hoping someone can clear it up for me and even shoot me some more knowledge here . I started a anavar cycle , 10 mg a day and i plan on going 6wks . My question is , can someone lead me in the right direction on the supplements to take with ? I keep reading diff stuff such as Milk thistle counteracts muscle gain etc etc . Also that it passes through the kidneys not the liver therefore no liver supplements are necessary. So i am confused and want to make sure i am doing this as healthy for my body as possible ! I know there are information gurus in here to help --

I use Milk Thistle extract everyday and have done for quite a while now, it has many benefits including lowering cholesterol, helping the heart and helping promote muscle growth and reducing inflammation. I've never had it affect muscle growth or strength. Anavar tends to affect lipids more than it does the liver especially at the lower dose you are taking. Here is a good article on MT:

Oh wow ! Great read !! Thank you !!! Can you recommend a dosage on the milk thistle ?

I've read a lot of articles on the dose and the general advice for protection against oral steroids (not just general liver health for the average person) is 300 to 400mg of EXTRACT per day, you can take this up to 3 times daily but I tend to just do the once. Where many go wrong is they look at the seed mg value which is generally 20 times higher than extract value. So where you see things like 2000mg per capsule just ignore that and look up what the extract value is. This generally ranges 100 to 300mg per capsule :-)

At the doses you are taking it is really not that big of a deal and I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. Guys cranking 100mg/d, yeah they need to be more proactive with supps. With var I would be more concerned about cholesterol levels. May not be to hard on the liver but var will flip your cholesterol light a light switch. That would be the bigger issue for you. Keep up with your omegas/fish oil.

Okay see that is the stuff i need to hear ! I have been taking omega 3 twice daily as well as another fish oil serv and eating a diet that is more cholesterol friendly if you will . I am just un sure on if i need to take milk thistle or not . Any other supplements you think i should be taking on cycle ? I’ve also read that grapefruit juice w the var helps . Have you heard of that?

It's specifically white grapefruit juice that will increase the absorption/potency of any drug, but I don't recommend it. You must drink the juice (16-20oz) 45mins prior to taking an oral medication/or oral steroids and what it does is inhibits the CYP3A4 enzyme of the cytochrome P450 system in the intestinal mucosa, increasing the bioavailability of drugs with a high first pass metabolism. It will cause the drug to illicit more harm to your liver and body by doing this. If you're drinking regular ruby red grapefruit juice, you gotta drink like damn near the whole bottle, so calories wise isn't efficient, if you're trying to shred up with Var.

Grapefruit juice is supposed to help with bioavailabilty I believe. @Rustyhooker may know more about that. I wouldn't be to concerned about it though and would probably recommend against using it at this point. 10mg is a hefty dose for a female, especially if first run of it. I would start out at 5mg if personally recommended it to someone for first time. As far as what else to take with it, just eat a balanced diet and keep up with healthy fats. Nothing wrong with adding in a multi-vitamin or some NAC/milkthistle if you are losing sleep over your liver.

@Makwa they gotta be careful with grapefruit juice. And ole Rusty Hooker knows this. It pretty much deactivates an essential enzyme that's used for detoxification of drugs

Just safer not to mess around with grapefruit juice and orals.

100% agree

@Makwa Yea Ole Hooker Naringin is the flavonoid in grapefruit juice that's responsible for inhibition of CYP3A4 liver enzymes. Not good, not good

I use “Liver 52 DS” & “NAC”
After your cycle take 4/5 days off of training & go get bloods to check your liver enzymes. I always quit training a couple days before I do my blood test and it’s more accurate on the liver AST results.
