+ 1 Costco egg whites cheaper than normal eggs.

ad

I'm sure everyone here is familiar with the ridiculous egg prices going around, but I found a workaround, at least temporarily.

The costco egg whites are currently way cheaper than the normal eggs. Heres how I did the math.

6 pack of 16oz egg whites = 96 oz is currently 13.99 or about .14c/oz

Cheapest pack of eggs I can find there is the 2 dozen for 9.49.

24 eggs * 2oz/egg = 48oz for 9.49, or about .40c/oz.

I would prefer whole egg myself, but the protein/cal ratio for egg whites is much better.

I just want my 2$ a dozen eggs back, hopefully this supply chain or bird flu shit goes away.

I'm getting 5-6 more chickens next month. Lost a couple over last year or so. Be back up to around 20. And I sell my extras to a few elderly couples in my rural area. I drive them to their home when I have time or they meet me. And I refuse to charge them any of these fucking outrageous prices. I give them away to them for $4 / 18 pack. 100% Farm raised.

Farmers will sell produce to you. It’s something I’m looking into

Here is a link to it. They aren’t paying the farmers https://twitter.com/ThatWelshFarmer/status/1591740763175542784?s=20

Back in the UK the price inflation is down to the supermarkets not wanting to pay the poor farmers the price they deserve DELIBERATELY creating a shortage. If they just paid those good salt of the earth men what they deserved they would be much cheaper.

The beginning of 2023 in seen them shoot up from 20 - 24 - 28$ in win co. Within two weeks.

Here in Houston TX at heb egg prices are coming down. My normal weekly 18 pack I buy for the fam is down to $5.00 and my Carton of egg whites is $4.74 but easier for me in the mornings than separating eggs and wasting yolks. I do 1/2 cup of whites and 1 whole egg.

Protein source prices are getting ridiculous in Europe too. The cheapest milk derived stuff like cottage cheese or quark has increased over 100% ! Even tough milk production has certainly not doubled in cost ! IMO they just want to make money out of the current situation with war going etc.

I just stick to whey most of the time since it’s still the cheapest alternative, here and there some eggs and beef that I buy in bulk.
