Want to start TRT

ad

I’m 25m with higher body fat (don’t know exact %). I’m looking to start Trt for a healthier lifestyle.

I’ve water fasted many times and my weight has fluctuated a lot. 230 to 160 to 260 to 200. I’ve done little research and really just seeking guidance on where I should begin and what I should start with. Any advice would be appreciated

TRT is replacing your natural testosterone with a medication, that you may not need. Bloodwork is key here. I’d suggest a reputable doctor to get your baseline and do a complete panel. If you’ve been, or are currently overweight, there’s issues that come along with that such as bad cholesterol levels, blood sugar problems, etc…, and exogenous testosterone could actually be dangerous until you get yourself in better general health. Let us know how it all works out, and best wishes.

Ah man the responses on this thread are stressing me out.

I'm 33. Have been lifting since high school, felt super sluggish, unmotivated, not at all myself, couldn't shed weight at all like I'd been able to in the past.

Got my levels checked and came in at 230. Got prescribed 200mg/week along with HCG. I'm 3 months in. Think it made sense in my case but these responses make me wonder if I got started too early.

33 is not ideal. It’s always best to wait as long as possible, but 33 might have been as long as possible for you. Your test levels being 230 which is very low, combined with you having symptoms of low T.,so it probably wasn’t a bad idea to start TRT.

200mg a week is a pretty high dose. Did your doctor do bloodwork around the 4-6 week mark to confirm the dosage is correct? Everyone is different but most people don’t need anywhere near 200mg to achieve levels at the high end of normal.

Not at 4-6 weeks. Told me to let him know if things don't improve (they did) and we'd re-evaluate every 6 months moving forward with bloodwork. Also recommended I donate blood 2-3x a year and check BP daily

That’s kind of up to you to manage then. Sort of a reckless recommendation in my opinion. Youre basically on a moderate cycle right now. Most people only need 80-120mg a week to maintain test levels at the high end of normal. So I’d recommend getting bloods and seeing where you’re at and adjusting your dose from there. We had a guy post yesterday on 200mg a week and he was at like 1750ng/dl. Optional range is 800-1000. The top end of the range depending on the lab is about 1100.

But if you’re interested in cycling at some point don’t tell your doctor you decreased your dose. Let him think 200mg is getting you to 800-1000. And save up all your extra.

Good call. I'll get bloodwork soon and see where I'm at. I did run out 2 weeks early but they're super strict on me refilling which was frustrating. I didn't overdo it on the dosage, think maybe I just had deadspace or something in the needle that ended up with me not quiting making it until the next order. That's really what brought me here was considering grabbing some spare T to bridge the gap if I run out again because after two weeks without, I feel it. Any chance you've ever ordered from osgear or any of the other ones here?

Lots of great sources here, but it’s against the site rules to discuss them in the open forums. So I would edit your last sentence of your comment. Just read reviews and the source discussions to figure out which you want to go with. You’ll be good with any of the top sources.

Trt is low dose testosterone. Why commit so young to shut yourself down and pin all the time for a measley 100-150mg testosterone a week?! I wouldnt even bother.

You are 25 years old man, go get your testosterone level checked its probably already pretty high. You can order the blood tests online. Since you say you have high body fat you will need to eat clean and get it down first. You can take retatrutide and get the fat down. Do some cardio and if jogging is too much start by walking a lot.

Why do you want to get on TRT? You mentioned nothing about your current test levels or that you’ve confirmed they’re low. TRT is a terrible idea at 25 unless you exhausted all options of raising your natural levels and are experiencing significant symptoms of low T. Many people believe symptoms they’re experiencing are due to low T only to find out once they’re on it that nothings better and low T was not the cause.

What’s your diet like, how long have you been consistently training, what kind of training are you doing, how much sleep are you getting and what are your stress levels like? All of these things significantly influence your test levels. High BF also decreases test levels.

TRT may be beneficial health wise if your levels are really low, and ideally you’re much older. But even that’s still debated. But the pros often outweigh the cons for folks that really need it. It’s most definitely not healthier if your test levels are anywhere in the normal range or you don’t have any symptoms of low T.

I wouldnt listen to anyone suggesting you get on TRT with normal test levels even if a clinic is willing to prescribe it.

You’re only 25, why are you looking to start TRT? I know you say for a healthier lifestyle, but it’s not just going to automatically make you healthy. If you don’t take the steps to create a healthy lifestyle now, jumping on TRT isn’t going to change that. It’s not a magic pill that will melt your body fat and make you healthy. Are you hypogonadal currently? What are your test levels?

Honestly, what you need is to clean up your lifestyle. Optimize the trinity of your training, diet, and recovery. Do this for a couple years and you’ll see incredible gains. Once you have everything optimized for an extended period of time and your body fat lower, then maybe look into running something, but there’s no reason to jump on TRT from where you are unless you have a very legitimate medical need. Test won’t fix a mindset.

To be fair. At my healthiest weight working out at the gym daily with cardio. I was about 150-160 abs started coming in slightly and v-line. Even then my test was like 360 . I felt pretty good and light, but test was still at a low number I feel.

Growtherino's picture

The number isn’t always the most important thing. Symptoms matter too. Sure 360 is the bottom of the range, but you’re saying yourself that you were able to be lean, have some muscle, and felt good. Everyone’s body is different some people are fine with 360 test some people will feel awful and have all the telltale symptoms of low T.

Not trying to come down harsh on you, but starting TrT is a big decision that will impact the rest of your life. Low test levels or not, before you jump on you would be doing yourself an absolute disservice if you don’t properly clean up your lifestyle and see the impact it has, first.

Medical exam and bloods tested by your dr first.

NeekzL7's picture

Will do. I know I probably won’t have luck getting a prescription through a dr so I was planning on sourcing here. Should I tell my dr That I plan to use trt?

smallsmoothballsack's picture

You'd be surprised at what levels Dr's will still start you on TRT.

But really man. First get your blood drawn and see what your levels are. If they are decent, don't start trt to just get the same level or just a bit higher. Try some long term lifestyle changes first.
