Insurance companys and TRT

I was at my Docs yesterday and he asked me if I was having any problems getting my insurance cover Testosterone. I told him I am not. He went on to tell me that recently he has heard more patients having problems getting them to cover the cost.
He said he does not understand why since blood tests confirm the need for it in the patients and the cost is low compared to many meds.

I think this is BS. It seems they would realize that it is helping people with low test just like replacing other things your body may lack. I just cant understand why they would be against it. Its gotta be just the evil undeserved rep of steroids

Many insurance companies are beginning to backpeddle on covering TRT. My Testim (gel) was covered by my old company, but my new company told me to fuck off. There was no way I was going to pay for Testim at $500 per box----and I use 2 boxes per month.
I told the doc..."fuck it, I'll just do steroids".....and I've been a happy, horny man ever since.

its funny they would cover 2 boxes of gel a month at $500 each .But 1 vial that costs about $60-$100 that will last way longer(in may case 20 weeks) they wont pay for

I didn't mention that my insurance seems to be fine with it ....for now. I pay $10 for a vial

It really depends on the policy. The insurance plan my company had last year covered it 80/20, but the new one covers the gel, but no injections. It's two different companies too, so that could explain it.

Just like anything when an Insurance company starts to see more people taking TRT--well they don't want to cover it all. They loose money so they either drop it or saying it only covers 50%...
