Forums are super fun but...
Forums don't add much value to eroids' primary mission, which is Source/Product Reviews.
That's why I've disabled user flagging in the forums and news. Point whoring is over! Not that I don't like your posts, there is more nasal spurted morning coffee stains on my keyboard than jizz - which is totally uncharacteristic for me, but i feel members with writing, artistic, poetic, storytelling, comedic?(how do u say that?) talents, are at this point, because of their high karma(ex rep) score wrongly presented to public as valued members that have been contributing reviews, experience and useful information.
This might be unfair to Steroids Q/A threads, but currently i don't know how to enable flagging only for certain threads.
Good karma points can still be earned in Source Reviews, Product Reviews and Picture sections.
Flagged "Helpful" will earn you 2pts
Flagged "Cool" will earn you 1pt
Flagged "Funny" will earn you 0pts (its here for statistical values)
Flagged "Rules" will take -3pts from your karma score.
Another thing I'm seeing regarding flagging, some users are downvoting (flagging "Rules") simply because they don't like the other person, or they don't agree with their statement.
IF YOU SIMPLY DON'T AGREE WITH SOMEBODY, YOU SHOULD NOT DOWNVOTE HIM! EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE!
YOU SHOULD ONLY DOWNVOTE DANGEROUS POSTS THAT VIOLATE RULES! IF YOU'VE NOT BOTHERED TO READ THE RULES, THAN YOU SHOULD NOT EVER PRESS THE RULES BUTTON!
Mods are able to see who downvoted what and whom, and will reset offender's score according to their best judgement!

sgtstedankoI've only been here a short while, but I honestly think that a lot of peeps are scared to share "their" sources with everyone. Good job on the points though. Also guys off cycle need something to do/read. Other than lust after other dudes gear/cycles, cry, & jerk off. But maybe it's just me:( Glad to see you fixed your keyboard bro. And I do believe you used comedic in the right context, spelled properly, etc. I think? I do think that a whole lot of very good information goes, or went unnoticed until it was too late to up it. IMO, prob due to the sheer volume of shit to read through... Keep up the good work. When I first came on board it seemed everyone was finding new and reputable sources and writing reviews; eroids primary function.
It was great to find a non-sponsored site. People got rep points for their reviews. But as Hollywood can attest to, there is just so much gear you can stockpile, so the reviews fall off.
Later people wrote reviews on the quality of the gear as their cycle started full swing. Then the reviews fall off because there is just so much gear you use per cycle.
Without the sophomoric banter in the off topic forum I doubt if there would be a community to ask a question of. So when there is a serious question, at least there is an active community ready to help. So the banter is a valuable component to eroids as well.
I agree that removing the option for giving points from the forum is a good idea. It seemed agonizingly slow to watch my rep points climb at first. Now they seem way too easy to come by. Hell I probably deserve only half of them.
tread-mYou have to remember though for every point you got and didn't deserve, you probably deserved a few more for things you did to help without mention...PM help, helping in forums, answering questions. The thing is, most of the people we help the most dont have the ability to vote, 90% of them most likely. It doesnt really matter at the end of the day, your reputation is built and word gets around so points are just points at some "point"...get my point? : )
i agree completely. i have asked many questions behind the sceens with people i checked out on here what they were saying and how they were writing on certain topics and then just pm them with my specific questions so ya tread is right the rep is ok but people will still get what they need is they really look for it here and people are earning their rep by what they put out there as well as what happens behind the sceens because i have actually had people here send me to toother people who had more knowledge than themselves.
tread-mAlright let me throw a serious one up...this morning was entirely appropriate. When you come and make fun of other guests such as asking greg if he uses his test for his tea because you dont want anyone but bodybuilders here or you scorn someone for being a female as though they have no business here or run pope in the dirt and basically tell him he is stupid....you desererve what you get and we will have to agree to disagree on that. Now keep in mind as I say this rep points do nt mean much to me but given this post the questiion I have begs to be asked. I have sent ab out 30 pm's today on cycle advise, thats so far...and do that every single day so I would ask where are my points for that? Some will put up a funny forum topic and drop 30 points into their rep in a week for thumbs ups and in that same week I helped people with the cycles with a couple hundred pm's for no points.....so as I like to say, if you want fair, join the rodeo, they travel with the fair......see I see everyones point here but there is always going to be unfair. Now keep in mind I wouldnt take anyones rep points away regardless of how they got them but if we are to look at where rep points come from then PM advise has to be considered as well and it cant be. Just want you all to know and many many people would tell you, I have ba lot of fun here but I bet I help just as much as anyone and just because you dont always see it doesnt mean its not happening. Dont take this wrong, I dont want any points but these tbhings should be known and wbhile I already see the argument, "why not put all that advise in a forum", heres the answer; first thiing I ask is age and stats along witbh goals.....these things are very specific to every individual and I'm not one that believes everyone gets the same cycle whether you are 21 or 61...just much easier in PM and not misleading to others who may be 21 and think they should be cruising year round following blast etc.....I see all your points and always respectfull of them but theres mine.

when I saw popes thread, i sad "here we go, brace for shitstorm" to myself, and never checked back in again. In general, i don't care for forums that much, not because i think forums are worthless, but i tend to do my own research, i actually enjoy the process. I got lots of time and even more hobbies, but no social network accounts or forum memberships.
But it's hard to do research on suppliers, when all the forums out there are payed for and biased and that's why I care about review sections, and i thought up the "user points ranking" system because when theres 10000s of ppl here, you have a hard time figuring out whos opinion you can trust and lean on, who is a noobie and things like that.
Forum's offtopic threads are making it hard to trust that user's points were earned for knowledge and experience. Points there are being delt based on who you know, like, or disagree with. Which is of 0 value to my ultimate evil goal in the above paragraph, and not only that, it has the potential of ruining it.
At this point i can honestly say I can trust the top scorers to actually be people with knowledge and experience that might help me make a better decision for myself regarding steroid usage or where to buy them. If there is anyone i'll trust if i decide to try HGH its gonna be you treadm! Not because your post are cracking me up, or cause u got lots of friends, but cause you seem to have experience with it like noone i know. And i trust you gained those points for the latter of qualities.
I agree with you, PM, steroid q/a, cycle help, and other areas should have "user ranking" system, but currently i have no clue how to implement them in the these specific hreads only.
So i turned the voting buttons off in all the forums, until i figure that out.
Oh and popes thread did not have anything to do with this decision. The events are coincidentally running parallel! What triggered this was i gained like 9pts for saying some trivial shit in the offtopic and feedback forums!

This is a source and product review board for steroids, so to think that some members may not be, uhhhm... "emotional"... is just, well, plain ignorant. And to allow "cliques" of ppl to continue upvoting each other merely for entertaining one another is, well, unacceptable. So, if you are a long standing, reputable member of EROIDS then ACT LIKE ONE!
As BFG has stated (and I strongly support) the "primary purpose" of EROIDS was being quickly tainted and was giving "some" members the "illusion" of being knowledgable thru misrepresented rep points. points don't mean a thing to me. until recently i was the stealth MOD who did most of my good works behind the scenes, but a recent development forced me to become more visible. So with that said, can we all just get back to the business at hand (which is NOT Face-roids) You all have ur little "social sections" so just keep ur chit-chat it in there and leave the rest of the Forum for those seeking and sharing information.

Ok, I've got to ask - where did this happen and how did I miss it?
I have to be honest here---While I thought spud was a little emotional this morning, I don't think he deserved to be lynched like that. Dogged, degraded, and scorned maybe...but not 60 points worth of downvoting. That was overkill.
I LOVE the forum, but it has morphed into a chat room. There used to be maybe 5-7 posts per week in the off topic.....now we get that many in a day, so I don't waste my time writing articles anymore, becasue they get overrun by stupid, pathetic, meaningless bullshit that gets 5 replies and then gets bumped off the page by the xext peice of trash. If it were up to me, posts would be ASSIGNED to certain catagories by BFG or another MOD. That way we could still have the anythin-goes-chit-chat, along with informative and opinionated writing.
BFG is not stupid--he knows the value of social interaction here. Without it, eroids would be far less populated. But we are still new...we need to figure out how to tweek the site to make it work in the best way possible.
