New face here, stopping in to say hello
Hello everyone, just stopping in to say hello. Just joined the site and looking forward to gaining knowledge in the future from some of those more experienced than myself (probably includes most) as well as sharing any experiences that I have had along my journey that may be of benefit to others.
A little about me, I am 38 years old, native Floridian. I have to be honest that most of my life I was fortunate to be thin and appear to be in very good physical condition. I have surfed my entire life so I am sure that helped a little. Although sadly I spent about 16 years of my life as a smoker, I finally successfully quit just over 4 years ago and have never even though of picking them back up.
3 years ago I met my now wife who is very much into working out both with cardio, weight lifting, as well as kick boxing, boot camps, you name it. She is intense with it almost to a point of it being a sickness!
So I finally I decided to get off my ass and get into the gym and boy it didn't take long to realize how wrong I was about my current state of fitness. I could not believe that while at 18 in high school and then 150 lbs, I could bench about my own body weight 10 times and I didn't even lift regularly, I could now not even get 150 off the rack. WTF!!!
Well I didn't accept defeat and squirm back to the sofa with my pringles tightly gripping my TV remote. I decided that from that moment I was going to push myself as hard as I could so that I would be able to feel what it was like to actually be in shape.
Well 2 years later and I guess you could say that I share in my wife's sickness. We are in the gym every single day. No sooner than a muscle group heals we are working it out again. Although in my mind I still have a long way to go, the gains that I have made, the strength that has increased since then are such a satisfying feeling but yet leave me with the desire to push even harder.
Feel free to say hello anytime.
