Long time student of AAS, never a user
Hi all. I'm new to AAS and the forum but have been studying AAS for nearly as long as I've been lifting.
I'm 34 and started lifting 15 years ago. Been relatively consistent with steady progress, although I've certainly peaked at times.
I'm 6'1", 205# and 14% bodyfat.
One thing that brings me to the forum is the awareness that I'm working harder and eating cleaner than ever before, but finding my progress to be harder and harder to come by. Presumably, this is a result of my age. My T levels are within normal so no problems there for my age. It just sucks to know how much better my results were for the same effort 10 years ago.
The other thing that brings me to the forum is that I'll be getting a distal clavicle resection via arthroscopic Mumford procedure in 2 weeks. I've worked pretty darned hard to get where I am physically, with a lot of real sweat in the past 3 years especially. Now, the thought of having to take up to 12 weeks off of upper body lifting to recuperate after shoulder surgery has me depressed and looking for a way to maximize my return to form when I do resume training.
I've never really wanted to get that much bigger than I am, but certainly have wanted to get leaner. Have long considered a 6 week Anavar only cycle to preserve my muscle while I lean out. At times, I've gotten my bf down to 10-12% in 2 months of cardio and restricted calories, but it came at a real loss of strength and size.
At the moment, I'm not really sure what I need or want after my surgery regarding goals and AAS. I'm not averse to pinning, but I am uncomfortable with never really knowing how clean or sterile internet-bought AAS is.
I guess any thoughts would be helpful as to which direction I should be headed.
Thanks all.

I hope your surgery goes well. I had basically the same problem as you. Eight years ago, i broke my leg in six places. I let myself go after that. It is really good that you signed up to this forum. Just this step is light years beyond what I have done. Maybe you should start a blog. Keep yourself accountable to what happens. Also, many of us can follow you and keep your motivation up. Hopefully, after the surgery, you can work on a little cut during recovery. Once you are ok'd by the doctor. The test-e will be waiting.
Stalion_WI wish you a lot of health, welcome
Welcome ;) Sorry to hear of you upcoming surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery after. You have come to the right place to get sound advice from a lot of knowledgeable people here, some of who are recovering from previous surgery. Keep ya chin up buddy ;)
Thanks! I just read from a lot of experienced forum posters here that Anavar only cycles are terrible and useless. I'm embarrassed I even considered one. There are other sites out there that make it out to be a good 'starter cycle' and easy on the endogenous T production. Doesn't sound that way based on what I'm reading.
Guess I'll have to investigate a simple Test-E cycle.
